Being forced into a Farming Scenario
I was just in a Nurse Match on Midwich. Not an Ideal scenario, but it was totally random (The map). But then in pops my teammates; I was solo queuing and noticed that they started unhooking in front of the Nurse and trading hooks.
At first, I thought they were just trying to die quickly and get the game over with (An irritatingly common event nowadays), but then I noticed the Nurse was actively avoiding hitting the unhooked so the Unhooking Survivor got full safe unhook points.
I am slightly miffed because despite the grueling nature of solo queue, I absolutely detest farming matches even more. They are b o r i n g, I am playing for a scary chase, for monster vs human, but I just rolled my eyes and worked on my gen.
I was playing adept Laurie with We'll Make It, my usual playstyle, so The Nurse at some point noticed my Aura and started making her way over. I snuck away, strategically hid my Aura just before the 30 second mark of Object Of Obsession's Proc, and was in the clear... until Sable rounds the corner, body blocks me, and clicks her light at me several times to get the Nurse's Attention.
I immediately ran past her but it was too late. The Nurse Noticed and gave chase, and my Object soon proc'd again, making evasion incredibly slim. I got hit and tried running to the Library "Ceiling stairwell" to maybe trick the Nurse into blinking above... when my other "Teammates" arrived and body-blocked the passage, the long side of the pallet loop, and the door behind me like some kind of coup.
I was livid. Because I ACTIVELY was showing I DO NOT want to be part of farming simulator, yet these "teammates" literally became Obstacles. Nurse downs me, and I am farmed once. I run off, but I get downed again, farmed again by the other survivors swarming like mosquitos.
The Nurse didn't kill anyone. And I left asap.
And so many people are prolly gonna say "Suck it up its free BP during an event where everyone's being sweaty blah blah"
THE POINT is that my agency meant nothing; My team literally forced me into compliance. Has anyone else been in that sort of situation? It was incredibly frustrating, and it's happened before, but this was blatantly the most severe version that's happened to me outside of a Killer and Survivor working together to undermine everyone else.

Just to clarify, forcing to farm is against the rules and you can report them for it by recording your match, reporting in-game and opening a ticket here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/categories/6713776396180-Dead-by-Daylight

Forcing to farm is against the rules they say. But when I do report that with video evidence, they never inform me if an action is taken.....ever. lol Love dbd

Yeah I wish I had recorded it /: By the time it was over, I was mostly by myself on a gen and out the exit. Next time I notice this sort of interaction occurring, I will definitely record.

Yeah I was super pissed. I don't like being closed in-on like that unless it's a Killer Vs Survivor interaction that is intended by the game's design, not a forced weird farming compliance.
Primarily why I usually run OBS nowadays. I don't stream for views, just to have a record of any sneaky bullcrap that's easy to link.

I mean, not many people will report forced farming. First of all, farming in general is very rare nowadays. But even if it happens, most of the time everyone is involved. And for the rare occasions where people dont want to farm, they will probably just not report it. So it is highly unlikely that the person you reported will have gotten many reports and so they are probably not doing an action.
When I see a farming Killer when I play Survivor, I just try to play the game normally and thats it. I dont think about reporting them or anything.

Yea that figures. It's honestly why I just stop reporting regardless since rarely anything happens. Oh well. Dbd is dbd and that will never change. But at least I have fun in other matches tho.

It is ridiculous that we as players have to record matches for such stuff to be reported... I cannot think of any other game where this required.
0 -
Not to be disrespectful but the fact that I as a normal play need to have a recording software setup just for the case I might encounter a cheater or something else worthy of a report makes the whole report system worthless.
5 -
While I do understand the inconvenience of this requirement, I can see why they have it in place. Otherwise, there'd be false reports everywhere. I, in particular, have a very strong pet peeve against people who accuse me of things I didn't actually do.
0 -
That is not the point... The point is every other game manages to either have a replay system or something else to make sure no false reports become successful... This is the developers responsibility, by requiring users to provide video material you are basically getting rid of a part of this responsibility. And this is just not adaquate.
1 -
A replay system needs to be integrated into the game itself as its being made. Back in 2016 i assume bhvr lacked the means and the abiliy to do this. So they missed their window to design the game with it in mind. To put it in this late would be a giant undertaking.
1 -
Well that is on them then, it is still not adaquate to dump that responsibility on the community, especially because it does not work as well as a build in feature... When something happens and you didn't record yet, because why should you record every game you play, and then the guy does not cheat again you have nothing...
If the basic construct of the game has such limitations, especially in combination with the spaghetti code issue that breaks stuff randomly almost every patch they should seriously think about re-writing the whole thing or switching to implement necessary things that are currently not possible because of the limitations.
If you game structure is not fit for modern purposes you need to somehow adapt to it and if that is not possible with the current construct then it is your responsibility to figure out a solution and not require your community to find ways to play around it...

As much as I just cant be bothered farming, I get some people do and personally I would NEVER report people for doing this.
With all the toxic and unpleasant things going on in DBD a bit of farming is probably the least harmful, I will try to just get out of the match as fast as possible though but no way on Earth I would report anyone for this.
The only farming I ever reported was the AFK bot killers that thankfully no longer exist due to AFK penalties
2 -
Exactly. I don't understand why farming bothers people so much, when there are many way worse behaviors running far more rampant. I wouldn't want farming every single game, but they're actually rare, and I see it as a breath of fresh air.

As for recording evidence, I dunno about other consoles or PC, but on PS5 you can record footage from, I think, what happened 3 minutes before. Did so with a hacking Hillbilly today and reported him then.

yeah there is much much worse in dbd but if you really want a farming game get a group together. dont pull some rando in it that doesnt want to farm and in the example of op the people didnt even acepted the fact that they didnt want to take part in the farming they forced op to "have fun" and farm.
just get your group together and farm and if the killer shows that he does not want to farm and would rather play a normal match accept that too

Honestly, with how sweaty and unpleasant games have been lately, even I would probably tolerate a farming match just to take a break from the toxicity lol
As I said, I really don't want to farm as I want to play the game but I can't understand why anyone would report such a harmless thing in DBD

I play the game to actually play the game, Iβd rather not waste 10+ minutes doing nothing in the limited time I have to play.
1 -
It's the fact I was forced into it. I had no agency, and my teammates entrapped me to make me an easier down. That's why I have a problem. The Killer is meant to oppose and corral, not your team.
Exactly, just because your friends are okay with it, doesn't mean you can just hold someone else hostage in the situation.
It bothers me because I like the game as it is, I don't enjoy farming for BP, as it feels very unrewarding.
At times, yes, it can be nice when a Killer shows mercy or throws you a bone in a tough match, but to be unceremoniously hoisted by my teammates and forced to comply, it just sucked.
I only would report them because they forced me to be in it. They weren't just harmlessly playing with the killer, they actively body blocked me and forced me to be a part of it. It's not fun being used and forced to comply with something you didn't want to be a part of.
Maybe there's hope for some kind of third part creation they could implement, I have no idea how servers work, but I assume they could create something that tracks a match, positions of survivor/killer etc. Maybe someday.

Introducing Macro Doc
1 -
Well OP since it is technically against the rules you can report it but bruh... seriously... π
0 -
Nah, OP can be mad. They didn't unhook anyone, their teammates were (probably?) a 3-man SWF who should've left the solo alone if the solo wanted to be alone. As killer I get pissed at that stuff. If I'm being nice and survivors try to offer up someone who obviously doesn't want to participate, I leave that person alone. If they keep it up, I'll probably slug the one(s) trying to offer up an unwilling teammate as a way to say "No, stop that."
Now, if that person made an unhook, then it's only fair they get hooked. If I chase and catch the survivor through normal gameplay without the other survivors' interference, they'll probably get hooked. But don't offer up teammates who don't want to participate, I don't take kindly to that and other killers shouldn't either. Even if it weren't against the rules, it's just a crappy thing to do.
