Does MFT not work with For The People?

I’ve been trying a new build with using MFT and For The People. The times I used it were to heal someone injured to healthy, not dying to injured. Does this combo not work on purpose? Or should this be working?

  MFT is only active when you're injured.

  FTP can only be used when you're healthy.

  By design, these perks can never be activated at the same time.

  So you only get the MFT Endurance when you heal someone while you yourself are injured?
