Block function could use some improvement
What is the point of the block function if I'm going to be matched with and against people I've blocked? Is it solely to stop friend invitations? That seems useful, sure, but there's also the aspect of not wanting to play with that person. You can't see the killer in the pre-game lobby, and sometimes you don't always have the time to check every person on your team to see if they're someone you've previously had a bad experience with.
Is it not possible for the matchmaking to take care of this? Or perhaps give us an indication in the pre-game lobby that we are being matched with someone on our block list? There are valid reasons, I think, to want to avoid playing with certain people.
My game experience would certainly benefit from knowing if I'm going into a match with/against someone I don't like.

Yes it isn't possible, because it'll just make good players to be blocked.

How about the function makes it so you don't see their texts in chat anymore? That would actually be useful...

That would be nice, but there's also the issue of their gameplay…

I hadn't considered that, to be honest. Surely there is a way to prevent harassment or playing with/against players you have had bad experiences with.

I mean sure, but a. There should be enough players to not encounter the same one regularly and b. If you could influence matchmaking with the block function that what be super easy to abuse and block all decent players to only go against potatoes.

Blocking certain players could work if you can block only 2-3 players at the tops for week or two. You know, the same kind of mechanic like Overwatch uses.
This could also add some more leverage for BHVR to ban certain players along side of reporting. And might disincentivize some players to act like a-holes when you are being blocked by multiple players and can't find a match.
But that would also mean that BHVR would have to fix their SBMM and prioritize finding matches in the same MMR bracket rather than finding games fast (which, at the moment, puts lots of players against players that are way off of their own MMR). And we all know that isn't going to happen in a long time (if ever)…
There could also be something called "Reputation", or "Endorsing"-mechanic in this game. Since we have that "Thumbs Up"-option in the end game screen, why not utilize that for this. If you have more blocks than thumbs ups from other players, you'd be put at same pool with other "bad attitude" players and you'll be playing with them instead of players who have more thumbs ups than blocks… And I know that this could be abused by SWF's, but it could be circled around by giving SWF's only one vote (Thumbs up) for the whole team. They could vote someone from their own team or other player (killer or other survivor) Same with blocking system. If one from your team has blocked a certain player, your SWF wont go against that player as long as you stay as team (if you haven't also blocked that player).
I know, there are lots and lots of "if's" and "but's" and different variables for multiple situations, but something like this should be at least considered by the devs. This community is way too toxic for it's own good. Most players are fine and nice, but it's because of few bad apples that have ruined the enjoyment of this game for the most of us.

It is a difficult problem. There is certainly a risk of misuse.
One thing I can think of is that it would be okay if it were made difficult to match based on the total number of blocks, including those from other players. If a player is blocked enough to be affected, there's a good chance there's something wrong with them.At the very least, the current situation where the block function itself has no effect is strange, so I would like to see a function that at least displays whether the player has blocked the player.
