Thoughts on Boon: Dark Theory?
Hello all, I was wondering if you guys think Boon: Dark Theory is worth taking? Is it worth the time spent blessing to get that extra 2% ms? I've been using it and placing it around key areas like shack, main buildings or lots of connected jungle gyms and I feel like it gives me that tiny edge over the killers, especially Billy.
What do you guys think?

Dark theory in its current state is not worth it. It's the only Boon that only has 1 effect compared to others and need a buff.
Since in theory it's a chase perk and I'd like to keep that theme. my buff would be:
• give 2,5 haste ( survivors movement 4,1 m/s )
• give 10% vaulting speed
• show the auras of Windows and downed pallets in range of the totem
Now this perk would be decent.

We seen the damge that 3% could do so i wouldn't say it completely bad. It's just the radius is too short for 2% boon that can be remove quickly

2% is already a good effect, but unlike old MFT´s 3%, you need to set a boon, stay in the 24 meters radius, you can´t let the killer see the totem etc etc etc

This is a real cool idea, I didn't realise it only had the one bonus compared to the others that have 2+. I almost wish it was 1% more but I think giving it a secondary things would be more beneficial

They should buff to 5%

There's just not enough perk slots to even contemplate this perk. Alan's boon is way more useful and practical

I would make it an Invocation.

Bad perk design.
It will either be too weak or too strong.

Takes 120 seconds and after you've finished the Invocation, you die.
All other Survivors gain 2 % Haste for 10 seconds.

I think it’s definitely not worth it.
It’s a proactive mechanic with a very short range. It’s not often you want to chase in a specific area for long, and even in cases like shack, the perk is incentivising you to go to and loop strong tiles - making you more likely to waste good pallets rather than leave the tile and use less valuable ones. It’s good in very niche scenarios like placing it on a hard to reach location on the main building of a map but again, it incentives constant play around that main building, which will quickly be devoid of its resources if the other survivors are also actively taking advantage of the boon.
It also has a little bit of anti-synergy with exhaustion perks like Sprint Burst/Balanced Landing/Lithe as they provide you the distance to go to other tiles, and if you’re not using the perk to get TO the boon radius, instead using it within the radius, you either have to stick in the same area and potentially lose value of the haste, or leave and lose value of the boon.0 -
it sucks

Would like to see it reworked into a map-traversal perk.
Something like "sprint at 200% your normal run speed" when a killer is not within X meters.…though people seem so scared of Background Player right now that the synergy here would be too much for Killers to handle, despite seeming like two innocuous perks.

Rubbish boon and the worst 2nd boon after circle of garbage(top trash boon now). Your better off just using a exhaust perk. Even illmunation(which I think is underrated) is a much better option. shadow step/expo/illum are the only 3 worth it. Do not waste your time with the other 2.

Good idea except for the auras imo. We already have windows and it's pretty unfun to play against, I'd say your idea for the vaulting speed is perfect.

I agree.
I’m guessing the devs are taking into consideration all of the other Haste perks (Blood Pact, Hope, Teamwork: Power of Two, Made for This, etc.) stacking with DT, would make it difficult for a lot of killers to catch a good survivor, if DT was any higher than 2%. The only caveat is that they can’t get hit, and their Blood Pact/Teamwork: PoT partner has to be close by and can’t get hit either- but keep in mind they too will get the Haste Boost. We all know a coordinated SWF would be able to pull this off with two keeping the killer busy while the other two rush gens. So I guess 2% it is. Definitely not the best by itself for beginners and a lot of intermediate survivors.

It's a bit slept-on IMO and I think it's in a fine spot. The 2% Haste feels really good. I like placing Dark Theory in main buildings, that way the main building becomes even more powerful but still counterable since it's a boon.
