I miss camping and hook grabs. Unhooking was so much more intense and trading wasn‘t as free. You also didn‘t feel like you couldn‘t do anything against someone running right passed you to the unhook. Then also there were a lot of fun things like Billy or buba sitting next to th hook with undetectable and waiting for the next person. Now the only way you can play killer literally is only tunneling or chasing someone. I liked that you could just wait for someone. I know many will disagree with me on that. I personally would like to get the anti camp removed or changed and hook grabs back.

Hook grabs were horrible, just because of how inconsistent they were, just like grabs in general. On your screen the unhook has finished, the survivor gets unhooked and then you get grabbed and other nonsense. The whole mechanic was infuriating for both sides, because it was just so random what will happen.
As for insidious stuff, that was rather unpleasant for the other side, so I'm fine with them gone, and so is probably the majority of people, but hey maybe you find other people that enjoy that stuff and you can make custom games or what not...

That‘s why I want hook grabs back and the anti camp gone. Hook grabs were also very important in endgame.

You can still do it; nothing is stopping you. The AFC mechanic only hurt facecamping. Proxy-camping is still completely viable.

Fun for you but obnoxious for everyone else in the match. I'm not sad this is gone and hope it never returns.

Even i don´t liked the grabs it is sad they took them out. Less and less variety.
I still don´t like the new wiggles. Old felt better.
In PTB you can´t cancel the unhook anymore. I think this is also pretty bad as a killer can now always predict the unhook.

The unhook mini game was stupid and I am really glad it is gone...

I liked the mindgame part of the hook grabs. Also you could buy a lot of time by just waiting for the hit. Now the killer just hits you and downs you immediately.
What was different about wiggles?
I hope they don’t bring the no longer unhook cancel to live.

You had to wiggle left and right with a+d or rotate the stick on controller.
It felt much better - like you are really wiggling. I hate these monoton Space clicks everywhere now.

It was dumb and completely random whether or not you would get grabbed... Simply because killer and survivor did not see the same thing... On the killers screen you were still unhooking, on your screen you already stopped... It was horrid, there was nothing fun about it... There are even some videos where people managed to get the unhook and still get grabbed... The whole thing was broken.

They should have just improved it. This didn‘t happen that often, at least for me it was mostly fair.

This happened constantly over years, which is why they removed the thing xD People complained about it a lot and it became basically a meme xD
Also how do you improve desync? It had nothing to do with the hook grab itself but with players not having the same thing on their screens.

They said they removed it, because of the mind game part, where you had to bait the killer into hitting you. I like this part, you could have waste a lot of time tho.
I‘m not a game developer, but I think I would make that the server checks the hits and whether they would be real hits. Like in every other game desync isn‘t really a problem.0 -
Hook grab can pretty much guarantee a win with facecamping, yeah it was pretty useful for adept but not sure if it was actually fair or anything

Have you seen hit validation when it existed? We had that and it was horrible, because on your screen you hit them and on their screen you didn't... So no, didn't work for hits, I doubt it worked better for grabs...

I think the AFC is fine but hook grabs should make a return (though that might need some more adjustments to the AFC to balance it out). It added a bit of risk and mind gaming to the otherwise very straight forward unhook mechanic. I get that face camping wasn't great but knowing that there's no way survivors can be punished for playing reckless in that situation, other than tunneling is not great.
You cannot punish the survivor that actually made the mistake but only the one coming off the hook, which just feels very wrong. This has led to many of my team mates unhooking me immeditaley right next to the killer and me getting tunneled as a consequence. In that situation even DS won't help, since the first half of the chase basically doesn't happen. Blame the killer all you like but in that situation, why wouldn't they tunnel? Preventing the unhook doesn't work and the killer is not obligated to let survivors get away with playing stupid. We don't expect survivors to stop doing gens because the killer went in the wrong direction either.

Agree with everything, but I still hope they will make the AFC a status effect and put it on every perk that has something to do with hooks like reassurance… This would make this mechanic actually fun and useful, instead of just saying don‘t camp and all those hook based perks would be more useful again. All this system did in my opinion was make good camping killers proxi camp (which is stronger than face camp) and everyone else just tunnels.

Camping should never be rewarded as it is essentially anti-gameplay. 1 player chooses to do absolutely nothing, 1 player physically can't do anything and the optimal play for 3 other players is to just do gens and let that 1 player die, unless the wish to engage in the world's most boring game of chicken which, depending on ping, can instantly lose them the game and give the win to a player that did absolutely nothing.

A killer should not have to play one certain way, that‘s just boring. Also camping was easy to counter. The only time you had to leave someone to die on hook was when buba was Face camping, which was not the end of the world. I‘m also not against the anti-camp, but not as base kit mechanic. It should be a part of all those hook based perks (reassurance…)

I didn’t really mind it and it didn’t happen very often. I remember one time where I was unhooking someone and got grabbed afterwards, but it was not the end of the world. The mechanic was more fun than just hook trading like now.

camping (regrettably) still works perfectly fine if you, for some reason, enjoy the thrilling gameplay that is standing still and doing nothing, you just can't face camp anymore

It happened constantly dude xD It was completely stupid... And hit validation was even worse... You saw blood after you someone and they stayed healthy because it got validated... So glad it isn't that bad anymore.

But it isn‘t fun anymore. I‘m also no one, who camps, but this game was more fun and interesting with it (sometimes more frustrating)
I had a game with pig, where I had the wall hack addon and I hooked someone. Then I saw the aura of a survivor one floor above me (on rpd) ready to jump down, but he was either on comms or had hacks and waited. Therefore I waited for him to jump down (as far away from the hook as I could while still seeing the aura) while the anti camp was filling up. In the end the guy unhooked himself and there was nothing what I did wrong or could do better. There was no way to get up there before he unhooks and the anti camp was also not paused by someone being directly above the hook.

you can still face-camp. in fact one of biggest memes in dbd right now is tombstone myer's face-camping. machine guns like huntress can still face-camp by re-downing the survivor quickly. all that mechanic does is give survivor the ability to unhook themselves instead of die to automatic regression. It is not enforcing you to do anything.

I know those killers can do that, but I don’t like playing those. I don‘t mean with camping waiting until someone dies more like wait for someone to come to the hook and chase him instead of searching for someone or get a quick down, but 1 it‘s not worth with anti camp 2 they can see it filling up and tell it their team.
Insidious basemnet buba is still a legend.

As far as I am aware after hit validation was introduced and was beyond frustrating they either disabled it again or tuned it down, I don't know which one. It is just that even the current desync is nothing compared to what hit validation did.

face-camping is reserved for bubba and machine-gun type killers. it shouldn't be universal strength.

Buba sadly can‘t facecamp effectively now and agree. No other killer could do it like buba did.

well just so you know, they're buffing facecamping in next update. One of the changes they're doing is that whenever a survivor innate an unhook action. the unhook action cannot be canceled.
What this means that you can run add-on's like iri head and iri-coin on deathslinger and just aim down sight. as soon as survivor begins unhooking, they are guaranteed to get hit by iri head or iri coin because they cannot stop unhooking action.

Poor survivors😂. I would prefer hook grabs and the anti camp being a status effect instead. This is an extremely dumb change honestly.
