Potential Energy bug; Not consuming a toolbox while the perk is active.

• Platform: PC, possibly every platform
• Description of the issue: Switching to a toolbox while Potential Energy is active (at least 1 Token) doesnt consume the toolbox even though it speeds up the Tokengain. After a short test in some custom games, this can save up to 15 seconds (no other perks used).
• Steps to reproduce (worked 4/4 times as of now):

-Start working on a gen without using the toolbox
-Activate Potential Energy and get at least 1 Token
-Immediatly stop repairing and switch to repairing with the tool box
-Repair until potential energy has 20 stacks (toolbox wont be consumed in the process)
-put in all 20 stacks
-immediatly switch back to repairing without the toolbox
-repeat

By using an Engineer's Toolbox with Socket Swivels and Clean Rag, you can get a gen done in roughly 66 seconds (not using other perks and being solo). Using the toolbox normally would require roughly 80 seconds to repair a gen.
• How often does this occur: Everytime you make use of it

Can confirm this is still an active bug; works with any toolbox.

I can't believe it hasn't been fixed yet. I've reported it multiple times and been told over and over that it's being watched and a duplicate topic, but how long are they going to let it go! I haven't been able to play it for weeks now, just like the epilepsy bug.

So this explains why that perk was suddenly used so much and why gens were finished so fast in games with it.

I've not played today because of how frustrating and stressful it has been.

Yeah, makes sense why gens are seemingly flying.

Yeah I had a few killer games with groups of survivors brought the perk and just spammed gens.

For real without buff it's just a bad perk, I bet it's usage has grown a lot…

The perk needs to be kill-switched until a fix is delivered.

I find it very distasteful you "brought attention to this" by basically advertising it in a Youtube video. That video seems to be unlisted now at least, but with it being a clearly unintended advantage in-game, it was strange you didn't consider your impact when teaching people how to use an exploit.

Why is this “under review” and not something that’s just immediately kill switched. This is actually ridiculous. It’s been a month.

It brings more attention to the exploit and puts more pressure on BHVR to actually take action.

Stop putting money into the game untill they fix it. I was about to buy some today but I'll simply not spend a buck untill its fixed.

I have had it with genrushers finishing gens insanely fast.

Thanks for the video, but for me the Scavenger is still better with such a toolbox, 65-70 seconds with the toolbox restored during repair, with the new engine at 120 fps it’s easy to hit great skill checks

They have killswitched garden of Joy now. How about adressing this that many people have been pointing out for over a month!

This bug allows people to basically use infinite toolboxes, I would suggest the perk, which isn't too widely used in the first place, be kill-switched until the problem is resolved.

Uhm, Scavenger is not better lol Like not even close. Your toolbox never goes down the entire time with this exploit and after recharging your toolbox with Scavenger you have a 50 percent repair speed reduction for 30 seconds. Plus an average player doesn't have to worry about great skill checks.

Also I didn't post that video for people to use the exploit. I was hesitant to post it here on the bug reporting but it really needs to be addressed and to show BHVR how it's being done and to also prove how broken it is.

can also confirm that this bug is still active

Hey BhVR!!! Why can't Unbreakable Pallet Map or Portal Energy be kill-switched! Why is it that normal gameplay is definitely being interfered with? Is it a problem because the survivors are getting away with it?

I hope everyone above that is crying out about the bug also did this during the merciless storm bug. Which removed progression with each skill check :)

Im sure they'll fix it as soon as they can

Encountered a whole team of survivors abusing this bug. 5 gens done I'm just a few short minutes.

Why is BHVR dragging their feet on kill switching this perk? It's crazy that we're gonna be heading into an anniversary stream with the game in this state.

Potential Energy should've been killswitched the moment this was posted, I don't understand why BHVR is so hesitant on using a feature that was specifically made to combat these kind of exploits/bugs.

They have left this for a month so basically report everyone using it and dont spend another dime on the game untill its fixed.

Im tunneling every survivor i see using it. Dont even care if I only get 1k.

Because it doesn’t break the game like spot in Garden of Joy where you can go behind the texture and hold the killer hostage, they just need to fix it in the next update and that’s it!

It breaks the games balance in an incredibly big way. Gens should take 90 seconds, with this unintended exploit it can be 45 seconds all the time. Given how otherwise niche it is as a perk, killswitching it would improve player experience greatly.

It's insane this bug isn't fixed yet or at least killswitched…

Although they say they are aware of it, they probably don't know how to fix it or do a kill switch. Or perhaps they have decided that there is no problem because the survivors have been able to escape. That's ridiculous. Until this issue is resolved, I can't even play Survivor because I don't want to get banned all together because I'm seen as a teammate with Survivor who abuses Glitch.

If BHVR is aware of the problem, then this ticket should say ACKNOWLEDGED, because that means BHVR confirmed there is a bug.

That's not true. Please don't spread misinformation. If you look at my video it takes 74 seconds to do a gen now instead of 90. It's not 45 seconds. It being 74 is still an issue but it's not as extreme as 45 seconds.

I was referring to its use with people running Prove Thyself and other perks, which as you mentioned in your post would speed the gen up more. I shouldn't have made the comparison to gens taking 90 seconds, as that's just with one individual instead of multiple. Not misinformation, but my mistake nonetheless.

When you have a team with 3-4 survivors all running the exploit together, then yes. it can be as extreme as 45 seconds.

I have been taking a break from the game since the last update, and honestly not sure when I will come back. I am a Pig main, and this bug oh, it's not game breaking according to BHVR apparently. Well, as more and more survivors decide if it's not killswitched its okay to exploit, more and more killers are going to quit the game… and then… will all those survivors be banned for exploiting a glitch? We'll see. I won't be holding my breath.

This btw. Not only advertising it but also defending it in the comments (which ofc cannot be seen anymore). Raising awareness and doing a video with a catchy title to advertise how insane the bug is are rly not the same thing. But at least its finally gone

  • jayoshi
    jayoshi Member Posts: 314

uhm you can get a gen done in 42.86 seconds with three people without any perks or items. This number is from the official wiki page.
