They know it's badly wanted by the community, but most of it is out of their control. They need to strike a deal with Sony and Microsoft that all parties can live with, and that hasn't happened yet.

A couple of surveys ago they asked us if we'd be interested in a partial limited kind of Cross Progression, where some things would transfer over but nothing bought without shards I think. So most levels, items, add-ons, and prestiges would go, but maybe not DLC's and many cosmetics etc.

this is gotta be the most braindead thing ever. if they truly cared about the games longevity and playerbase they would tell sony and whoever that they are adding cross progression. every other game has added cross progression their should be no reason they cant aswell. its not a problem with deals. if others games can do it without an issue they can too

It absolutely is a difficult problem. The smoothest deals are already in place when the game launches, but back in 2016 this game was out only on Steam. A year and a half or so later it was ported over to the consoles, without any Cross Progression agreement in place. For that you can blame the devs some, sure, but no one knew DBD would expand as quickly & as hugely as it did.

Since then they (in my belief) have honestly tried to hammer out a deal, and it hasn't happened, and the deal with Nintendo ran into technical problems. Sony and Microsoft both likely view players leaving their systems as potential monies lost, pure and simple, and aren't focusing on the customer aspect of it. And the devs can't make them either.

So what is most likely to happen if there ever is Cross Progression is a very limited one, where things like most perks and levels and items and add-ons are able to be transferred, but not a lot of cosmetics and DLC stuff. It would depend on how players got their stuff, through the store or through the console. A huge mess.
