I wonder why the Male Bard isn't an Elf

I love this upcoming DnD chapter, it's so exicting! But I just wonder why the survivor male bard isn't an elf as well? That would've given a new option to choose between a female and male elf, even though it's just pointy ears, it at least makes the male bard a little more unique then every other male survivor.

My reckoning is that it goes back to the "choose your role" parts of DnD. Someone may wish to be an elven bard, whilst another may want a human bard, based on what skillsets they have. I believe this is simply for a "choose an adventurer" reason.

On the plus side, this brings in the second survivor who isn't a typical human! Gabriel bucked the trend by being a clone, which is still human but not in the traditional sense, and now this elven bard could well be the another sign of future survivors not being just regular humans. We could be seeing synths, mutants ... heck, if ever a Fallout chapter happened in future, "The Ghoul" could even be a survivor!

Very excited for all of this!

I was also slightly disappointed in the male bard. I was hoping he'd be an elf as well. He just seems like Temu Vittorio to me lol

They might add headpieces in the future that give the male survivor elf ears

Cheryl is a reincarnated split soul, Lisa is a lingering spirit given form, and Maria is a physical manifestation of a man's trauma and instability.

Ah yes, I forgot about my all-time favourite horror game series of all time!

    Bugger it!

A part of me still wants a sequel Alien chapter. I'd like one of the Colonial Marines to be playable, but now that you mention it, a playable Bishop would be great. But his blood would be a different color and that might be considered a balance/visual problem.

I like it because I don't like elves anyway.

Ideally, there would be cosmetics to change which class your character resembles and even choices for other races.

There's bound to be far more than just 2 cosmetics. The fact they've even shown more than one in the ptb is unprecedented, likely to show off the ability to swap cosmetics betwen different gender/rarce models.

I'd assume mostly because D&D tends to make a conscious effort to keep humans very present in the game (its also a good habit for DMs to ground your campaign). Most characters you encounter in your campaigns are human, as humans are very common.

As people we all have a need for uniqueness, and so naturally everyone wants to be a Dwarf or an Elf or a Dragonborne or an Orc or a Gnome... this is all great, but at the end of the day, humans are part of fantasy too... so you tend to see a lot of cool and important NPCs made human, just to keep humans relevant. (Humans also debately have the best starting bonuses for creating their character than any other race for the same reason).

So I would guess the reason for the human character is to not lean too far from what makes sense for DBD (an Orc Barbarian or a Dwarven Cleric might be a bit too out there), and also because as a reflection of the world of D&D, humans are the most common race.

Plus Bishop would feel no pain, so it would be a built-in "Calm Spirit". The Killer hooks him and he just impassively stares down at them, giving zero ######### to his new situation!
