BhVR's perception that Background Player is a park for survivors to escape from killers. Really?
After all this time, I am concerned that the management's perception of the proposed changes (proposed buffs) to Background Player is very different from the general perception of players.
Background Player is a perk to escape? Isn't this the exact opposite and designed as an offensive perk to approach a killer at high speed and get hit by palette stun, flashlight, or stun grenade? If used in such a way, the halved cooldime would make it very easy to use and stronger, since it would halve the time you need to earn in a chase, but was the management really envisioning this as a perk for running away from killers, really?

I think the english Dev Update is a more viable source.
So maybe its wrong translated.

Where did they write that?
And it is not a Buff for Background Player, it is a Nerf. You have to really twist it to say that Background Player got buffed.

I'm not sure why they'd interpret it as that since it activates when the killer picks up a downed team mate. Why would you need to escape a killer who is picking up a downed team mate? Common sense says it's used exactly as it was intended to be used

In japanese newsletter,BhVR explains the adjustment by clearly stating that the background player is a perk for survivors to escape from the killer.

you could technically say it’s a buff if you combined it with the increased speed of sabo toolboxes to break a hook and run off every 30 seconds, but even then that’s kinda stretching it

I mean, it helps a Survivor to escape from the Killer. The one who just got picked up.

Yes, where in English it is stated that it will shorten the distance to the killer, in Japanese it becomes "take distance." Also, in the second half of the sentence, where it is stated in English that it will make rescue more difficult, in Japanese it is stated that it will make it easier to escape.
