Really sorry, but my god SM players make it so hard to empathize with them

Not saying I condone it at all, but when nearly every SM player I've come across has consistently played scummy then how is anyone surprised when people instantly DC/Suicide against her? When her drones are so easy to use to completely shut down an area and hold a 3 gen consistently, requiring communication in a game that mostly comprised of solo queuers to break, then is it any surprise when she has one of the highest Kill rates in the game?

Seriously, I've played SM and I'm seriously trying to view this Killer in a positive light in some way, but it's just not possible. This Killer does not work in the current state of DBD and no one should be faulted for hating her. It's not right to instantly DC or give up against her, or harass the players playing them obviously, but it is one hundred and twenty percent ok to despise this killer's power.

You don't need to empathize with them, its not like they should be ashamed of themselfs for playing a killer they like.

I think every killer probably has some kind of stereotype and then some player on the other side has some bias towards them (mostly negative than positive experience).

For example for me, Pyramid Heads pretty much 95% of the time just ALWAYS tunnel the first person that gets tormented (usualy first chase) and ALWAYS goes back to cages and instatly downs them and kills them. You could say in a way that PH players are scummy? Sure, but also its effective so I get why people play like this and in the end its not like they are breaking games rules or something, so it is also not scummy. Its just a view point. Also I am sure there are PH players who don't tunnel the first people out when they get the chance.

SM aren't some orginized crime group that have goal to bully Survivors and make them suffer. They are just regular players like you and me who just wants to play some character for many reasons. I also played againts few SM who played pretty fair and nice.

3-gen is no more. They can try delay it but they can't hold the game anymore so She can't rly have that. Also any killer can camp gens and someone like Knight can push people away from distance while SM can't.

all the facecamping bubba players switched over to skull merchant. I hate playing against her it’s boring and annoying. Plus they tend to hit on the hook alot

3 Genning is still a thing, just not infinite like it was before. Instead of infinite defense like before you can simply just rely on the complete opposite and play aggressively to hold down the 3 gen. When you have multiple gen regression perks going against you, drones surrounding the entire area preventing you from properly looping, and solo queue communication it's pretty easy to lock down an area, even more so if it's a small map, or more than likely a teammate already dead by then.

And as for the Knight, he's been bugged since last December making his AI absolutely pathetic, not even considering how bad his power is in the first place. And I know that too since he's one of my mains. There's the standard which is absolutely easy to get and the fact that sure, the AI may push them away from the area, but more than likely they just won't be able to do anything else besides that leading to a much more beatable scenario then SM.

Also depends on map RNG. I was saying in another thread I had a SM the other day lock down a 3 gen area with the help of the map. One gen was in a corner tile, with the large MacMillan wood pile blocking one side and creating a sort of corridor with another gen. Then to the left was a third gen but the only way to access it without going past SM was a small path between shack and a crappily placed hill. There were no tiles or pallets between the hill and edge map when running away, and the hill entrance was where she was standing, so she could just drop down and it was a guaranteed hit. So the corner gen was inaccessible, and the other two were right where she was. The whole corridor and couple of escape routes were just drones. I've been playing like 3.5 years and it was hands down top 5 worst games I've ever played. The 3 gen mechanic did nothing because if we managed to get to a gen through all that we'd just ended up exposed either going in or out, and she had haste . Everyone tried, to their credit, but once it had dragged on too long people just slowly went afk, myself included. I went and did the dishes. When I heard my survivor scream from being found and hooked, she stood there just hitting me. I wish I filmed the set up she had, there was no chance.

Part of this is a negative feedback loop.

The reason you tend to only see scummy SM players is because anyone who likes her and doesn't play scummy gets the same level of hate and harassment playing her as the players who do.

Believe or not, not all killers enjoy upsetting and annoying survivors, some just want to play and have fun in chases. However half of games players quit immediately just upon seeing you and immediately codemn/ruin the game, and those who don't tend to make a point of teabagging, flashlight clicking, and voicing their displeasure at you in the end game chat, no matter what you actually did or how you played. This means ofc the Skull Merchant's who don't play in scummy ways and want to have a fun game for all aren't gonna keep playing her, so the only ones left are the ones that like to make a point of annoying survivors.

She had a chance at a clean slate with the rework, but most people had already made their mind up before they even saw it, and don't try to think of anything to improve the experience. So she returned to the same place anyway as the pick for people who like to annoy with SM, cause despite the fact there are many ways to improve her, any thread about it gets shut down with "just delete her" nonsense.

At this point I'm absolutely convinced that although yes, Skull Merchant has issues, the toddler survivors who throw a paddy every time they see her, are by far the bigger issue.

    Eh.

I've met a lot of very nice SM players. I tend to be nice to them when most of the lobby DC's and they are pretty nice back for the most part, unless they want the match to end or practice chases on a living target.

Honestly, I like going against them more than Wraiths.
