Penalty for giving up on hook, 1st stage
Now I get that this has been in discussion for a long time. But here are my 5 cents.
Playing this chaos event (and many other normal games), people just give up if they are found first and then downed, then hooked. The give up instantly. This ruins the game for both sides and fast. The amount of time I have found the first survivor, and had either a bad or good chase and hooked them they give up just because they are first or didn't like their chase. IDK why they give up honestly, but they do.
My suggestion is that BHVR implements some sort of timer, that if you give up on hook on the 1st stage withing 5 or maybe 10 minutes you get a penalty. And this is not a penalty for simply trying to unhook yourself, instead have a checker that checks if the survivor tried to unhook themselves 3 times and then let go on stage 2 within the next 5 or 10 minutes. This way it'll allow players to still try to unhook themselves if that's their build or whatever but penalize if you unhook just to try to die.
Now its only the first hook, because if you are 2stage or get tunnelled out, at that point the games the game I guess, no need to penalize that.
My 5 cents, anyone else feel free to add to this discussion or give suggestions

I just made this account so idk how to highlight and what not so ima just answer ur first quote then second.
1. DC ruins it for everyone I think, wether i play survivor of killer i get dcs and it sucks. Yes, next match is in about 2-5 mins away but I love the chases, having a good chase where you are juiced when you play as killer and then finally get them is so satisfying. Then I almost look forward to the second chase because I can improve and have fun, only to find out they give up on hook… It's a morale breaker for the survivor team too, to have a dc.
2. some survivors dc for the most unknown reasons. Literally they aren't first hook, they aren't the first in chase. They have a good chase when there are 2 gens left then they DC. I've seen this several times and that just confuses me. If people are so miserable playing this game that they have to DC. Just dont play, or at least finish the game, take a break and then come back.
I didnt mean this post to be so complainy. I love the bot implementation and it has helped a lot with the games, but the bots are… special. I just feel like we could've gotten a solution to this DCing but we haven't, the bots feel more like a bandage than anaything.0 -
.... What? I hate it when people give up on first hook. Oftentimes the game is extremely winnable and they give up because they got hit with an insta down perk or the killer outplayed them and they're tilted. It's dumb.
That being said I don't really have a problem with people giving up. I'd rather have them out of the game instead of actively sabotaging it.

Yet only killers complain?
Where did that even come from? I don't like it mostly, because I feel bad for other survivors.
I don't play with any survivor main who would not dislike when someone DC / suicide.
I can understand players, who never want to win, don't care, but otherwise? not really2 -
A lot of the reasons people give are not really good reasons to just give up right at the beginning.

Please, let me explain what it could happens in your next games if your suggestion is approved:
as soon as survivors have understand this 'new' Penalty system, they will attempt to reach the 2nd.stage after 3 unhook attempts, then as they certainly still want to die to go next, they will go into a corner and to do nothing during the next 5-10 minutes but avoiding the penalty in this way… bc "whatever, this match is lost, I don't care anymore'.
And as killer, you will probably be angrier to found more survivors doing nothing during all your matches, hiding on the edge of the map and so on…
After that, you probably will write another topic about this bad survivor's behaviour that requires more heavy penalties…1 -
It wouldn't ever happen, nor should it. People bring luck offerings and try to kobe sometimes and there's not a great way to differentiate people trying to leave without a DC from people who are trying to genuinely yeet themselves off.
I do think that something like the 'salt mines' from Friday the 13th would be helpful for disconnects though.

I agree with what you're saying and this is kinda a overarching problem. Where there kinda isn't a 'be all fix all' solution. I think in the end people that want to sabotage, ruin or throw the game will always find a way.
It's kinda how DBD is designed in a way.0
