Nah, I have been playing since launch on console, haha. You just need to purchase auric cells and you get it.
Edit- it’s in my inventory right now. It definitely doesn't need to be for the first time.

In case you're confused, this means that you get it upon your first Auric Cell pack during this promotion. It's not referring to your first auric cell purchase period.

I have bought Auric Cells before and when I bought some for the new skins I got the badge. It's just your first purchase while this specific promotion is active.
