The Forgotten Ruins has GREAT BALANCING ISSUES
Sorry to say this, but this map is trash.
The portals make infinities - you can't catch a survivor with an M1 killer if they "loop" going from one portal to another. Portals should have at least 3 seconds of "stun" when traversing through them because you can catch a smart survivor running from loop to loop.
If you don't have bamboozle, the survivor can vault the lower floor windows until they are entity blocked.
Really, how this map was approved to be implemented in the game?

If only BHVR had people who could test the game, a spare I don't know...95 people?

They could enlist players if they had to sign a NDA first a lot of game companies do this give them a incentive to find bugs and report them for a added bonus and people would hunt without question. Of course they would probably want their own in house team to double check and test themselves. I just think prefer to just push stuff live and let the player base find out whats broken and whats not working on a live test basis. It just tends to taint the waterhole so to speak when players find bugs on a live release and exploit it until its patched.

Garden of Joy at least has only 1 infinite. This new map has 3, with a "real infinite" being the portals.
Time to burn Garden Of Joy Offerings until this map stop being impulsed

Any proof?

Bare minimum should be that once you pass through one of the portals you can't use the other for like 30 seconds to a minute; give an 'arcane interference' debuff or something because yeah, those infinite's are infuriating and I have no idea how that got past testing.
You know there is no guarantee the 95 people let go were working on DbD right?

For those complaining about the map - did you play the PTB and provide feedback to the devs?
0 -
Yes, i did.
Most of us complained about the map - even in the PTB the bots were doing infinites. The devs gave no attetion to the map.
Really?
See with your own eyes.
Also, the portal infinites are not present in this clip. They are even worse than these god windows.

BHVR is well known for ignoring player feedback if they aren't told what they want to hear.

They chose to ignore feedback about how terrible updated Haddonfield is, so not sure why people are surprised

Yeah, multiple times. In fact this was mentioned a lot, including by some fog whisperers. I can't imagine this escaped the notice of the Consultants either, sooooooooo why is it still in the game?
They have to spend literal years revamping and reworking maps, it'd be better if they got it right the first time, especially when the issues with the map were known the moment the PtB released.

Some of the pallet placements seem like they shouldn't be there also. Like I've seen two pallets spawn so far that have a huge gap on one side that you can run through with both Killer and survivor once the pallet has been dropped. It's missing terrain in those areas like they forgot to put it in lol

I am a console player.

I don’t know if it’s just me but does anyone else feel like the map has virtually no vaults?
0 -
idk, just play on the map and see for yourself?

I mean it's the only thing working at the moment, there's a palette you can go through on the side if dropped and many palettes upstairs are just near worthless in general xD
But yeah it's ridiculous that you can run 3 times around the tower if the survivor has enough distance xD

So i literally just see a bad killer doing whatever instead of doing a serious chase. And not a single mention of an infinite, which i still highly doubt as noone ever saw such a thing during ptb.

Come on, the instructions to the Killer must have been "Can you chase me like a bot for a few minutes?". The video creator is running unsafe Pallets as if they are the most safe thing ever.

I was testing it yesterday and it's not literal Infinite, but you can easily get 2 minutes chase basically for nothing.
Main issue is teleporting instantly breaks chase, because of distance, so you will never get bloodlust.
I have tested it with Huntress.

I'm not even talking about the pallets. The windows on the "dungeon" can garantee three safe vaults against most of the killers if they don't have bamboozle. Unfortunately i could not find another video of someone looping in this on Youtube, but a friend of mine held the killer for minutes in these windows, specially since there is perfect checkspots in case the killer do a double back and try to mindgame.
Hens333 was commenting about the map these days in his live but i couldn't find the vod.0 -
This guy displayed it quite well in my opinion.

None of those 95 people were involved in such matter. They were in the marketing/PR department.

So did some testing with my friend to check on portal interactions.
Twins: Victor is not able to get through portal
Knight: Guards get stuck and just are running into wall
Deathslinger: as soon survivor starts animation, you can't shoot them
So have fun…0 -
This video is perfect to show all the issue this map has. Really, if only the god windows existed it would be a problem but having the portals to break chase and lose bloodlust and entity block make this MUCH WORSE.

So another thing to add to the pile, and something that BHVR should do soon and its a relatively quick add/fix.
In the Star room with the portal down in the basement, there is no TV or Xeno Tunnel within the room with the Generator, closest one for both is in the God Loop. Playing against a Sadako and Xeno, both struggled significantly, and if you leave that gen as one of the lasts, Idk how Xeno and Sadako play around it in the current state, and i do think they should move the one from the loop closer towards the room
