DBD content on twitch and youtube

Recently a content creator made a video about the dbd comp scene. You might have heard about it because it included some well known names.

Now this video, whether people agree with the points made in it or not, has obvisouly made some people turn their heads.

What did this video call out? The behaviour some content creators show towards the general playerbase in public lobbies. What Ive heard now is, that they mostly do this for content and would never bm players when they are offline.

Now this got me curious about what the general DBD - viewer actually wants to see, when they tune in to their favourite streamer?

Do they want:

  • challenge runs
  • win streaks
  • meme gameplay
  • roleplay - stuff
  • normal gameplay of specific roles / killers
  • analystical gameplay and guides
  • bm'ing in public lobbies and lots of trash talk

What do you guys find entertaining?

I personally find it awful to make content of others feeling horrible. I get it, its a game. But do people really have to go out of their way to make others feel bad? Do people enjoy watching this?

What are your thoughts?

You might want to link the video when you are kind of talking about it ^^ for those of us who did not watch it yet, me included :D

Fully depends, why not a mixture of all of them? Maybe except for the role play part, at least for me. But usually what I am expecting of content fully depends on the creator… You're not going to watch JRM if you want Comp level plays or something like that.

The issue is that making the other side feel horrible is such an open term… There are people that feel horrible because they got t-bagged, or w/s 'ed and what not and I would say those things can be funny and entertaining.. For example the demogorgon portal humping is hillarious to look at, do I want to look at it every day for hours? No, but it is intertaining every once in a while.

And for making them feel bad by absolutely demolishing them, that is not really their fault is it, you cannot really expect people to play bad on purpose so the loss feels less bad for the other side or something like that. More a matchmaking fault than a player fault I guess.

    Sorry, my bad. Added it.

But people say that the pub stomping is just for content. This I dont get. Who wants to watch a comp player stomp people that play casually, bm them and trash talk them without any provocation?

    I certainly do not.

Those guys I genuinly enjoy watching as well. I dopnt get why some comp - content creators deem it necessary to make bm'ing their content.

Im gonna comment on why I like to see comp players play against pub players as content, and thats because they can do flashy plays.

For example a comp team will never get huntress/unknown/slinger sniped, because they know how to position themselves, but pub players will let you get snipes through all of the match, good players wont.

So you can essentially see a good player be able to pull off incredible plays that wont work against decent players.

Its like watching a speedrun, you are seeing what the best players can do in an uncontrolled environment.

Also comp players in pubs are more entertainining (and here I will side with comp players) because a large mayority of pub players believe they are gods at the game for using strong items/addons/offerings, and seeing an actual good player give them a reality check is amazing.

I dont have anything against comp players in pubs. I have something against people that have to make others feel as miserable as possible just to get a reaction. It just happens, that some of the comp people seem to enjoy making this kind oof conent on the expense of public players.

    • I follow different content creators, there is a lot of difference between surviving content and killer content. Survivor content is about fun (70% of the time the content creator dies). Killer content is all about wins, maybe with unusual perk/ combo/ addon, but still just wins. the mentality they spread is that survivor must have fun and try creative plays (of course, sometimes really annoying the poor killer), but it doesn't matter if he wins or dies… killer doesn't play to have fun, but to win.

    l take.

You do know that winning IS fun for some? Just because it isnt for you, it isnt for everyone.

So lets stop claiming players dont like fun just because they try to win.

Honestly this. I couldn't agree more, early dbd is so entertaining to go back to and watch. Comp DBD is an absolute snooze fest imo and proves why DBD can't be taken seriously in a competitive manner
