Realistically, team chat in team based online games in solo queue is impractical. Most people don't use it and when people do it's often used negatively.
I like dbd solo queue being balanced around not having voice chat.1 -

I just don’t like when players only look at the bad side of it being a vc or a in game text chat. Not everyone is toxic and going to be a pos to you. It annoys me lol

I feel DBD Survivor is unique in that it's a mutliplayer game that doesn't require you to have to talk to other people. It offers a different kind of challenge that I enjoy. That being said I think the game should be flexible, allowing room for mistakes rather than expecting perfection from four seperate people without communication in order to win. I don't think that comms would be too strong for survivor, as we have evidence that disproves that, but I don't think it's necessary. I feel like the hud was a perfect way to add information without comms.

Thats a wild statement, communication and teamwork in coop games is key, the way you communicate is up for debate but to say chat (voice or text) is impractical is just factually wrong... To coordinate a gank or something in a moba you need to somehow let your team know what you are planning, same for when you get gsnked and need to ask for back up... At its very core communication is required when you play or work together with other people to be as efficient/effective as possible.
And people can decide for themselves whether to use it or not and block people that use it negatively.

Yes
No game requires you to communicate with other people, well maybe among us or mafia, but even then you can decide not to.. The point is that other games give you the option to communicate, if you want to then go for it, if not don't. It is rather simple. You are not required to do anything. Also being unique is not necessarily something good, dbd has one of the least user friendlier options menus, because you can barely change graphics options or customize hot keys and prevent double functions there, that is very unique for a modern game, but it is also not something good as it is a step in the wrong direction... Games from 20 years ago had better options for the user to customize, which is actually quite embarrassing for bhvr...
If you like the challenge great, nobody forces you to communicate, you can just mute everyone and continue playing as you want to.
I don't think adding voice chat leads to the assumption of players making no mistakes anymore? They don't suddenly become professional loppers or anything like that?

Yes
Yes, despite being a strong tool. For two reasons:
- Solo and Swf would be 100% equal. Anyone thinking theres more to the "solo-swf-gap" just wants massive survivor buffs.
- Comms as a game mechanic would be subject to or reason for balance changes, unlike the current situation of it being third party.

I believe it's impractical in solo queue. Strangers do not usually work well together. Just try overwatch and you'll see.
It doesn't have to be "key" and it's not key because they developers have not made it to be key.
And the problem with adding is that it means the game will then be balanced around having voice chat. Therefore if you don't use it you will be at a disadvantage. So it would affect all players so i would rather they not add it at all.1 -
Yes
Well if that is your position then we basically need seperat queues because otherwise the game cannot be balanced, I don't know I have seen quite a lot of cooperation in multi-player games, despite playing with Randoms, be it Dota or overwatch in the old days, the question is always how committed people are to win... And when somebody does not care they will end up in a bracket where people also don't necessarily try to win which is Allright.
The developers don't decide on what the key concept of a general type of game is... They decide on the type of game and the rest comes with it...
That is not an issue though, because it is a question of how much communication is expected to be done, nobody wants to base it around a clock system and comp callous, but you can at least assume players will share some form of information which is Allright.

As for the part of the devs don't decide that… When you decide to make a game of a certain type, there are typically rules that you cannot decide on, unless you take action to prevent them… RTS will eventually have build orders people do, multiplayer coop games typically get an advantage through communication, shooter games tend to revolve around accuracy and so on and so forth, and while the developer can decide on what he puts the focus of the game, that does not necessarily mean that other things that are not put in the spotlight are not key to the game…

I understand that most games offer options to mute chat, but I actually appreciate that DBD doesn't include this feature. In my opinion, it creates a more unique and challenging game experience. When it comes to being unique, I guess I just disagree with you because I think DBD has done very well over the past eight years. I agree tutorials are pretty garbage, and information needs to be made more attainable without needing to look up outside sources, but I think the dedicated playerbase and having newer players still coming in happesn because the game is unique and fun. While there's always room for improvement, that's part of the deal with any live-service game.
I understand why they don't allow graphic settings to be adjusted, as the dark ambiance is a crucial aspect of the game, and gameplay could suffer if things were made too bright. I agree customizable hotkeys would be nice, but I don't think the game is suffering without them, as it's not a game that requires many buttons to begin with.
My comment about players not making mistakes isn't about adding voice chat making them perfect. It's about considering the lack of communication when balancing the game. You can't expect four strangers who aren't in communication to play perfectly, and players shouldn't have to be flawless to have a decent chance at winning. Survival rates are right where BHVR wants them though, at a 40%, so I think the balancing already takes wiggle room into account, which I think is good.

I mean not adding those graphics setting does not prevent people from still doing so via filters or increasing the brightness of the monitor or other build in options, it just is not available for everyone. Same with the hotkeys, which is why people accidentally vault lockers when they want to vault windows, and even worse on console where picking up a survivor, dropping a pallet and god knows what is all the same hotkey, which is just stupid to keep it that way.
