How to fix Singularity

Backmon Member Posts: 318

After patch 8.1.0 moves to the main game, the Singularity - already strong killer will receive huge buffs that no one asked for. Of course, in this state, he will be unbearable to play against. Therefore, for balance he needs to be weakened, in particular, the ability to control the map. And the best way for this is make his biopods limited, if survivors destroy it with EMP that means it gone forever. That means if survivor destroy all his biopods he became powerless m1 killer. This change fix 2 problems, make Singularity bearable to go against and give survivor huge reward for counter killer power

You forgot that EMP not only counter for biopods but also a good game delay, if survivors know that they can completly shut down singularity power they search for them. This means less people on gen. And Singularity already have enough biopods as base kit, this only can became a problem on closed maps. And also make Singularity place them not so obvious. The main reason for this change is nerf his insane map pressure

This change only punish players who place biopods in the most obvious spot and very close to each other (which i say it could be problem on small maps). This change only does not allowed Singularity brainlessly spam biopods and also make him work for 4k kills. He is already have enough biopods as base kit. And slipstream already one of the best chase mechanic he has (not many killers has even close to this), so it only being a nerf to his insane map pressure and gen defense and doesnt touch his chase potential

It depends on what to compare it with. If it means leave him as he is, s-tier killer with no counterplay and best ability to hold 3 gen (even than knight or skull merchant). My idea would probably be better.

    3. Not so many times, but this times are enough to know that buff this killer is not okay. The most miserable soloq game was against him

    1. On some maps hes not stronger but indeed worse to play against than nurse
    2. 3% haste as base kit and auto aim on biopods is a huge buff for already strong killer

He is low A, high B tier at best without those buffs and with them maybe mid A tier at best, you exaggerating by a large amount… Sure turning him into an absolutely useless killer with no power is surely better than him getting a bit of quality of life dude.

He is quite dependant on Family Photo, so making it partially basekit is a good move, he is not worse to play agains than nurse… He just like nurse suffers on indoor maps and sure he is strong in holding 3 gens, but the current anti 3 gen solution makes this not as strong anymore..

He is one of the hardest killersi n the game, those changes are meant to make him less addon depedant and more accessable for players…

Again hes not hard. Spamming biopods and know survivors location 24/7 is not something you need skill for. And for lazy people he has teleport right on survivors.

A bad soloQ game doesn't mean a character is broken lol. As long as your using your EMPs efficiently his power is basically just surveillance. Against good teams you basically have to slipstream midchase and I'd argue if the Singularity is good enough to consistently do that they deserve the downs.

He is one of the most demanding killers in the game, it seems to me that you just have no clue what you are talking about…

Yeah. You get about a minute or two extra, if you're lucky and the only cost is that you completely give up your power. Sounds like a good trade. After all, we know how well M1 killers do currently.

You get this game delay anyway and Singualrity is nowhere near overpowered at the moment. Adding the ability to permanently shut off its power is just overkill. There is no world in which that would be fine.

It also doesn't matter how obvious a biopod is placed. You see these things anyway and if you don't because they are placed around a corner, then that's a badly biopod because it can't see anything either, which removes all utility from it.

Pig lose her power after 4 chases cause no bear trap and she is far weaker than singularity. Again why killer so powerful as Singularity with insane map control and pressure, passive game delay and insane chase potential - slipstream does not have limite on it. For now biopods value is almost free and survivors cant do much about it. Imagine if pig can recover her bear traps - you get current Singularity

You're forgetting Pig has a dash ability. You're also forgetting that if survivors don't remove their reverse bear traps, their head pops and they die. The worst case scenario if you don't disable a biopod is he teleports, and a chase starts. He doesn't immediately down, he doesn't immediately kill you, it starts a chase. That's all.

I do like the idea of being able to completely remove a killers power when you're 2 minutes in the game though. I can already imagine a scenario where survivors just throw a brick through Sadako's TV's. Or maybe they can steal Wraiths bell, and then Wraith has to find it before he can cloak again. Would be absolutely hilarious.

Oh, or even better: what if survivors could use the perk Saboteur to permanently break Trappers traps, or even with toolbo… Wait a second… We've been here before haven't we? What is this déja vu? Where am I? Is this 2016? Am I stuck in the past?

On a serious note: being able to negate a killers power completely has been proven in the past to be a terrible idea.

I would just like the option to turn the auto aim feature off, I don't know why behavior does not include more user settings to adjust...

She loses a part of her power and it's an integral part of her kit. She was designed with this in mind. Singularity wasn't and Pig's traps are way more powerful and threatening than biopods can ever be. That's why the game limits Pig in other areas and only gives her 4 of them base kit. Pig is the only killer in the game that can kill you passively. That's a major difference.

Singularity doesn't get "insane map pressure" and "passive game delay" either but "insane map pressure" or "passive game delay". If you use the EMPs, then the map pressure is reduced greatly and if you don't use them, then there is no passive game delay. It's one or the other, not both. The biopod's value also isn't really free. I mean, what do you get out of a biopod? You slipstream a survivor and now you can teleport to them but you still play M1 killer, if the survivor just keeps on running because for each teleport they make a lot of distance on you that you will have to catch up again before you are a threat. In that time, the overclock duration has already expired.

Play Singularity yourself and actually try to get value out of the teleport (and in extend the complete power) in chase. That's pretty hard.

Also if you know what type of player always bleed all of your team at 5 gen (or hard tunnel at 5 gen) it is indeed singularity main

Its not a bait. I think singularity changes way too much and it need to be adressed. But if its a bait to you whatever

For your proposed changes I'll add 3 more.

    1. EMPs auto build stops at 30% have to manually push the button yourself for the other 70%.

    2. EMP chest are depleted for the rest of the game and cannot print another EMP.

    3. Killer can now just shoot you directly with its EMP gun and put a bio-pod on you.

Have you never played Singularity? No other killer demands its level of micromanagement just to be efficient.

Fun fact. If you work with your team and use EMP's he becomes a basic M1 killer. Usually this involves another survivor with an EMP needing to be involved with the chase which isn't a hard concept because this usually happens with beamers anyway and to be honest. More killers need to exist that involve survivors doing more mini games across the map. Hux fits that.

Even better when you EMP and disable his cameras and slipstreams while in chase he has to use more of his stock of cameras that are protecting gens which leaves them wide open. Basically in solos this becomes hard to accomplish because teams don't work together and becomes more accurate when it's against a SWF. So reality is it isn't a killer issue. It's a mindset of the survivors facing him issue.

TLDR He doesn't need to be weakened. People just don't encounter him enough to understand how to actually play against him because he's really not that hard to counter.

If you like using overpowered busted killer its okay you can have fun with it. But dont be surprised when singularity have skull merchant level of hatred and all your future matches would be against bot only

I would honestly make his power less complex and exhausting to play and then balance him, but that's just my opinion

I am not even sure that this change could work if you gave him a pool of 20 pods of which 8 could be active at the same time. Pods get EMPed so easily, even 20 pods would be eaten through fast enough, but 8 base? That would be gone before the match got any traction at all.
