Slugging at 5 gens is unnecessary.
Love the Masquerade, but the matches have been miserable. I get people enjoy winning, but curb stomping and denying basic game play for your fellow players is not cool :(. Like, there were 3 gens, 2 people on hook both stage 2, 3rd player JUST got downed and instead of picking up and giving me at least a chance to unhook, they leave them slugged, teleport(Hag) and insta-down because of the Expose Tryk. I understand that is part of the game. I probably sound entitled. But truly, there are some instances where a little courtesy is nice. The matches end violently quick. Isn’t the point of a videogame to PLAY a game? I personally don’t see how ending a match that quick constitutes a fun gameplay experience. Did you even play at all? Everyone is entitled to play how they want. ALL PARTIES please consider that you are playing with other people that also want to play a game. Best wishes, the Dwight that can’t loop ❤️

The title is misleading. Should killers slug all 4 survs and either bleed them out or hook them last second, all while at 5 gens? Ideally not, though it isn’t illegal. Your situation is completely different. The killer was playing well, did nothing against the rules, had two people on hook, downed the third, knew where the 4th was, and you want him to back off because… why? You’re losing? He doesn’t owe you a comeback. A snowball can happen at 5 gens or no gens, their choices are equally valid either way.

I feel like part of why it's so frustrating to play against killers that speedrun the match during this event is because it's so much easier for killers to get cakes than survivors. Killers always have 2-4 cakes per bloodweb, where a survivor can go several bloodwebs without seeing one. This means that when you get booted out of a match near-immediately because the killer was playing comp or your teammates gave up, you're losing cake with your piddly 30k while the killer proceeds to blaze through ten more bloodwebs full of them with their 200k. It's… unpleasant.
Meanwhile, if I play killer and do Actually Nothing, I still walk out of the match with dosh. Like. I've had games where the survivors signaled at the start that they wanted to be friendly, I obliged them, and then they were rude and never let me hook them and I didn't press the issue, so I had 0 hooks and like… two or three hits. And I'd still score 15k with the event, and that'd multiply to a nice 80k. And then I'm 4x as likely to get cake as a survivor is. So even the most wasted game as killer pays dividends compared to survivor, where you individually have much less control over what happens in the game.
Though ultimately this does come down to value system dissonance. Some people's idea of fun is very incompatible with other people's idea of fun, and nothing you say or do is going to convince those people to behave otherwise. They're not even really wrong for enjoying a game in a way that's counter to how you enjoy it, as much as I agree with you. Best you can do is try to make your games pleasant for others when you have the winning hand and hope karma pays that back to you.

I mean, why should the hag drag the match much longer than it has to be?
2 people are deathhook if unhooked so you have 2 people that have to hide probably and aren't very efficient with that anyways, otherwise they're just dead.
So the killer could make the match a 3vs4 or even 2vs4 at which point the match is already over. Even if he doesn't the inefficient 2 survivors won't preassure enough to win probably so there's no reason to let that happen.
You may be right that you all would be able to play longer, but why would you like to play in a match that's already lost that's purely alive because the killer had mercy? xD

Sometimes I decide to play "nice" , 2-3 gens pop and in the end I have to twerk for 1 or 2 kills and get tbagged at the gate. Yeah I should've known at 5 gens they were good… I guess…
Nah thanks I'm playing to win just like my opponents, they don't follow my made up rules I won't follow theirs.

You have tools to deal with that situation. Aggressive knockdown is the only real way to stop the gen rush and some killer kits are so weak at this point that they can't do much else against an organized team.

I made an experiment recently, as a Nurse I intentionally spread hooks as wide as possible, even dropping chases with survivors who were dead on hook. And you know what happened? As soon as the gens were done, they start flashlight spamming and tbagging at the gates, as if they won because they are good, and not because I let them. The funniest thing is that during the actual trial not a single one of them dares to tbag the Nurse, but only when they are sure they can get away with it. So yeah, even if survivors don't BM you off the bat, doesn't mean they are decent people and won't do it when they win, so preventive tunnel and slug is always justified.

Says who? I've had four cakes in a single killer bloodweb multiple times this year. Survivors have four possible event items (toolbox, medkit, flashlight, cake) and therefore are not guaranteed a cake on their bloodweb, and can go multiple webs in a row getting other anniversary items but not cakes.

I dunno about you, but for like 50% of my Masquerade Games, I get suicidal lemming Survivors.
Just yesterday I had a game where 3 people facecamped me. The killer. They facecamped me and 2 of them always tried to blind me out of every pickup.
So I did what Killers do.
I downed one, hurt the others, hooked, downed the next, hooked and started a cycle that ended with 3Ks at 3 Gens, just to be told in post chat that I was toxic for not letting them do whatever they wanted to do.
And, sorry for generalizing, but I feel that's a lot of survivors.
Anything I can do to stop them from being toxic they consider toxic and I am evil for doing it.
Another game I had a Nancy that kept ignoring my Terror Radius so everytime I saw her I got like guaranteed hits.
When she was at 2 Hook states, I felt bad, only downed and hoped her mates would go and heal her, but she left not even 10 seconds after the down, which obviously was enough for the other 2 survivors to start t-bagging and trying to bait me into chases every single time.
So. What is there to do. What courtesy am I supposed to give people, when they repay it with being little shits?6 -

I'D be okay with gen-rushes if the repair times weren't as short as they are after the regression nerf.
I usually run Killers as "Adept +" meaning I pick up their personal perks and 1 Perk I like.
This limits me and makes me stomach it easier when I lose.
Huntress Perks suck ass.
So I run her with a different Build. Full Regression.
Pop, Oppression, Nowhere to Hide, Pain Res
It's weird to me, that only by using these perks have I realized how fast gens pop without them. It's like a completely different game compared to other Killers I like to play.3 -

Nah, I think we should fully shame anyone who treats the event named "Bag of Tryx" (tricks) event with the seriousness of a DBDLeague scrim. It's an embarrassing attitude to have in a game mode where everything from its mechanics to its name screams whimsy, and people who hypersweat in it deserve to feel that embarassment
By all means, play your scrims as sweaty as possible. I'll even grudgingly concede try harding in normal DBD is fine, particularly for this event. But if you're seriously going into the anniversary event with the mindset "according to my calculations, slugging here will boost my win probability from 98.8% to 99.4%" then that's just clownish and I will treat you as such

No, they can complain about gen rushing, but they wouldn't be like "How dare you survivors do this!" whereas killer strategies always get that treatment.

The moment I got into red ranks almost all of the event matches have been killers trolling or just doing everything they can to make the game miserable as possible for survivors.

The other side of the coin is that it might feel like the killer dragged the match on if he didn't just slug there... You will not win either and the gameplay would feel kind of meaningless, that's basically a lose lose situation for the killer, people will dislike whatever he does.

That's because the killers are in the driver's seat. They actively decide how the game is played, whether to tunnel, slug, camp, gen kick, whether to use an aura build, etc.
Survivors have perks to react to possible playing styles and to counter, as a passive part.

As someone else said, the killer is the driver of the gameplay.
But also, killers absolutely do this as well, it's just with different wording: 'This is unhealthy for gameplay', 'X is broken', 'this map is too strong'.
The devs have spent the past two years systematically changing the game, and a huge number of those changes appear to be by demand. Perks like dead hard, MfT, prove thyself, circle of healing, medkits and BNP completely reworked, corn maps, haddonfield (twice), reworking map logic and weakening pallets across the board, and there's a ton that I'm not listing to keep the list short.
All of that was changed after incessant complaining by the community. So yes, killers absolutely lose their minds and demand change as well. Unfortunately, they've been getting what they want enough that there's a huge trend of reinforcement to complain about anything in the game that's even perceived as a minor inconvenience at this point. And that trend is backed up by kill rate stats going steadily upward for those two years as well.

4 is possible at level 50 if you are very lucky. It's very rare I have P100 characters and most of the time I get only one or none per level...
On knight I got lucky here but I might not update him anymore as big nerfs are coming to him...

I remember reading funny comment regarding new haddonfield rework that is balanced around 50 hour baby trapper having good chance winning with using only m1. Some of the maps seem that way now with all the unsafe pallets. Now the situation is somewhat in control but if more and more maps get to changed to having only 5 unsafe pallets survivor becomes unplayable.
Some maps are now still survivor sided but I think it's fine killers have so many good maps as well. I just played in map (crotus prenn asylum) on killer which had window vault right besided shack window it was disgusting well I still outplayed survivors there with m1 killer. Best situation would be that most maps are evenly balanced.

He is on my rotation maybe with 10 other killers. I hsve liked him how he is now obviously probably not most fun killer to face but I like to chase with guards and not send them other side of the map.

Most normal killers, react to how survs are playing, if you're sabo and flashlighting then the killer is more likely to slug.
They may not have intended that when joining a game, but if you're trying to prevent hooks then isn't it the killer reacting?
If they're "gen rushing" the first surv is likely to get tunnelled, so other survs come to peel.
The game is about creating pressure, when one "side" is reacting to the other's pressure, then you're technically winning.

Id much rather have gameplay, even if I'll lose no matter what. Chase people, down them, hook them, repeat. Play the actual game, not main character simulator. How do people not understand the fun of the game. And no, it's not subjective. It's a game where 5 people want to play. Removing that ability for 4 people as quickly as possible isn't strategy, it's selfish egotism.
I'm not arguing if it's not technically BMing or considered reportable. I'm not arguing that it exists in the game so therefore it can be done. I'm arguing that it is objectively reprehensible to be that much of a jerk on purpose because your BP and score are the only thing that matter to you.
Playing to win doesn't equal being the only one allowed to have fun. People need to grow up a little.

If it is effective towards winning then it is a strategy... I don't think it is selfish to play to win. Also typically for the killer it is not fun to drag out the game for no reason..
I don't think that the killer has any obligation to provide you with a certain length of a match or the opportunity for you to enjoy the game, that is basically fully your responsibility...
I really don't see your point... If that was the most effective thing to do that moment to win, then why should it matter whether you guys has fun during it? He is just doing his job in that sense...
Also telling people to grow up while demanding they play the way you want them to because otherwise they are selfish is peak irony ;)

For the survivors, the ultimate global achievement (and the active) is to repair all generators.
Anything unrelated to this is indirectly related to creating/saving more time so that the main goal can be achieved and it becomes more difficult for the killer.
Hooking a survivor is the common killer action. Some counters are sabotage or flashlight saves, react to the action of hooking. The killer change this style of play with switch to slugging to prevent being countered.3 -
Hooking a survivor is mandatory, the game from a killer pov cannot be advanced without it. it's not a "common action" It's mandatory.
You can sabo a hook before someone is picked up, therefore the person may drop the player then just slug.

I dont see how you can read this post and come to the conclusion OP is saying "the killer didn't let me win"
They were complaining that in a scenario that the killer was already at a massive advantage, they were pressing for even more advantage in a way that is both miserable to he on the receiving end of, and actively works to deny Survivors BP.
There's a lot of people on this forum who could benefit from a reminder that there's a thick line between "letting the other side win" and "sweating when your victory is basically already assured".

It's not mandatory as survivors also die if they bleed out. If the killer wants to bleed all 4 survivors out it's not technically against the rules as they're still trying to win.
It's incredibly unfun, I fully agree, but BHVR endorse this playstyle by having perks like Knock Out in the game.

While not necessary, it's also never happening unless y'all are severely outmatched and the team plays badly enough to set him up for it. You typically don't just "decide" to slug, you do it from the opportunity presenting itself. IE them slugging at 5 gens is more a result of the survivor team playing bad than it is the killer choosing to do so. Meaning it wouldn't make sense to blame the killer for slugging at 5 gens. It would make more sense to blame either your team or yourself for making a lot of mistakes.
Like if the killers got 1 hook at 5 gens and then someone goes for the save but messes up and gets slugged in front of the hooked person I would expect him to proxy camp to some extent. I personally would just pick him up and be chill, but I wouldn't blame the killer for not doing so. Him slugging there would be a smart play capitalizing on our mistake.

As a survivor, your task is to repair generators, there is no way around it.
As a killer, your task is to kill survivors.
How they do it is their decision. If hooking is too difficult for several specific reasons/conditions, then slugging is an option.
Some killers are slugging intentionally from the start, which is their game plan, which brings us back to the thread topic.0 -

Realistically speaking, it only happens when there is a catastrophic skill gap between killers and survivors, hardly anything is needed as a countermeasure system or in term of game balance, you just needs better matchmaking

The killers I've faced have been fine mostly, just a few exceptions. Had one killer today who slugged, tunnelled, and camped (he brought a Survivor Pudding, so I assumed it was coming), and naturally someone DCd, and the two others let go on hook as soon as they were able, and I guess because I stuck it out he had me follow him to hatch. It was a weirdly wholesome end to a pretty aggressive game lol

Yep, some survivors become extremely cocky when a player is new to a certain killer or when they see a "strong" killer playing "badly." Even though the killer is probably playing chill on purpose, they're on an unfavourable map, or they just don't want to sweat.
It also says a lot about the mentality of a lot of players when both killers and survivors load in expecting the worse from the other side like killers run quad slowdown because they expect to be genrushed or they expect a flashlight squad, and survivors bring genrush because they expect to be slugged at five gens or the killer to hold a three-gen from the start.
There's a lot of unhealthiness in this game, and something needs to be done very, very soon.

You can't control SBMM and to be honest I think it takes a backseat to geographic location first. When the matchmaking is off and imbalanced most the time it is in the killers favor. Especially when it is the solo queue lobby. As a killer you can tell very quickly if you are playing solo queue or SWF. If you know people are in it to win it then play to win but if your playing to get blood points then have some fun and play out the game. I truly believe I can have a fun game and still not win. Wish the killer mentality understood that too

By the time you tell if you are fighting against SWF or not, it's generally too late to do anything meaningful
