This is probably my least favorite tome rift and theme so far.
There's been cosmetics in similar vein as the latest rift cosmetics before in the past, however most of them at least felt somewhat grounded to something in line with what the characters would actually wear or own and at least they had elements of fabric tears, blood stains, dirt or mud on them to make them look worn and fit in with the game's themes and aesthetic.
These new rift cosmetics however just straight up feels like we're moving completely away from those aforementioned elements and is instead moving too far into DBD mobile/Fortnite/Identity V cosmetic territory where outfits are made just to look like eye-candy for the sake of just being eye-candy just to sell as much as possible with zero regards for the game's actual themes, aesthetics or characters and i'm quite honestly not a fan of that. (Especially with Survivors and Killers getting these additional details such as fox tails, floaty glowing bits from their Spirit animals, glowing hair and what not.)
I wish we'd move away from these fantastical and eye-candy looking cosmetics and instead go back towards more realistic and grounded looking cosmetics with more focus on the aforementioned elements mentioned in the first paragraph above to actually fits DBD's horror aesthetic and atmosphere.

Honestly, I like the new cosmetics. The Yui one especially is really cool.

I like new rift, but I agree with your point. I wish at least killers skins remains mostly scary and with horror atmosphere.

They could at least have given the new Killer skins blood and other elements to them, imo they're way too clean and factory new looking with how they currently are similar to how DBD Mobile's cosmetics look. (I'm looking specifically at you Clown)

The magical kitsune yui skin is awful and fits with nothing else in the game.
I guess this is where DBD jumps the shark and starts putting ostentatious glowing stuff on everything because that's what sells.

I agree the only thing I like from the rift are the recolors. Just simple cute outfits that you can easily mix n match with other pieces.

Can't wait for DBD to slowly turn into tf2 where everyone wears cosmetics with all sorts of flashy and ridiculous particle effects attached to them. /s
Also worst part is, i want to use the Kitsune mask from her outfit, however the glowing hair ruins it completely.

I like it too and have since the reveal of the banner but i feel like the tail has kind of ruined for me. Wouldn't the tail be a huge help for the killer when chasing you? I wish you could turn it off.

It's probably a disadvantage for stealthy situations but I don't really care about that, I like the tail too much.

Agreed. DbD Mobile was the first thing I thought when I saw the new rift, I'm not a fan of it. I don't like how colorful and unrealistic they are, I like DbD for it's horror aesthetic. I would love some more casual and realistic outfits. I think that's why the Iron Maiden shirts were so popular, it was just normal t-shirts that fit well with so many other cosmetics.
On a side note, I used to love combining and trying out outfits while waiting in queue, but with the new UI being so uncomfortable and the Customization tab straight up removed I don't even care for outfits much anymore, besides switching the presets I've already made.

DBD already has a lot of outlandish things.
- Dredge has a skin where he is literally just a giant toy (even has a Deep Rift variant).
- We have characters from non-horror IPs.
- Where have futuristic pop star outfits and a literal k-pop Killer.
- We have a lot of lore surrounding unnatural events and phenoms.
I think past a certain point, the "this doesnt fit" eventually starts to fit once it becomes the norm.

Just played with it.
It is very big and glowy. And it tanks fps.
I guess i won´t use it often, the mask is nice… but also the hair glows.
This is maybe gonna be a "chase me" outfit like Aces Hatmaker.

Just because we have some outlandish things already doesn't mean we need to push the envelope even further for even more outlandish and ridiculous things.
Dredge has a skin where he is literally just a giant toy (even has a Deep Rift variant).
Still in line with Dredge's character of being based on the boogeyman, as that covers everyone's fears of different things.
We have characters from non-horror IPs.
Which is it's own entire problem too and one i'm very much against as well.
Where have futuristic pop star outfits and a literal k-pop Killer.
Trickster still works as a horror character, the same way Norman Bates and Patrick Bateman does, the music genre chosen for him doesn't change that as any other music genre would have made no difference for his general character and horror.
Also not only are futuristic cosmetics at least grounded enough to be closer to normal clothing, but they also had elements of fabric tear, blood stains, dirt and mud to them to fit with the game's theme and aesthetic.
The new cosmetics from the rift are just DBD mobile levels of clean and has a bunch of particle effects attached to them like they're TF2 Unusual cosmetics.
We have a lot of lore surrounding unnatural events and phenoms.
Yes, but this is irrelevant to the lore and with the exception of those that are featured in tome cinematics, cosmetics in general aren't canon and neither are their descriptions canon events, that's why outside of the outfits that appears in the tome cinematics, most of those that do are default outfits only.
Most of the previous cosmetics wasn't pushing the envelope this hard and in fact looked like something that would naturally fit with other cosmetics when combined with them.
I think past a certain point, the "this doesnt fit" eventually starts to fit once it becomes the norm.
Except this is just going beyond the point of ''This doesn't fit'', this is straight up just going into DBD mobile/Fortnite territory, unlike most of the previous cosmetics we've had, these new cosmetics goes against the game's established theme and aesthetics completely with the inclusion of things like floating glowing fox tail and glowing hair for Survivors.

Agree to disagree on this?
I think this leans more towards an opinionated topic since I use to feel that way before but over time I have grown more use to this kind of stuff. Past a certain point I just kind of stopped caring since the game has changed a lot and so does the game's art direction, we are not in 2016 anymore.

As someone who really likes the rift and the outfits, I do have to agree that it marks a departure from both 'the outfits are something the character would construably wear' and diving straight into aesthetic bait. We've not had this kind of glowy floaty aesthetic before and it is pretty Fortnite-y.
Like, Trickster would wear a peacock/fairy outfit because his whole thing is elaborate k-pop stage costumes, and you can finagle Spirit's monstrous serpent look as a horrific manifestation of her wrath - she is an onryo, after all. But kitsune Yui and magic cat Elodie are pretty far from any kind of character consistency. And it'd be one thing to give Yui a kitsune mask, but wholly another to manifest magic glowing tails. Yeah, technically anything's possible in the Fog, but that isn't really the sort of magic or aesthetic we see in the Entity's Realm.

I mean sure, we can agree to disagre.
However i will say this: Even for the 2021 change in the artstyle, it at least still retained the elements of it's identity from the previous artstyle, this however completely removes that and if we keep going the direction the game is currently heading towards, DBD is gonna end up like tf2 eventually with unusual cosmetics and a completely disregarded theme, aesthetic and artstyle (if it hasn't already reached that stage at this point) and the new rift plus Tomb Raider just feels like they're heavily pushing towards that and i'm just tired of the game going in that direction.

I'd say the spirit one does. I feel like snakes are a pretty common animal to fear.

Yeah, can agree, spirit's one has this horror atmosphere.

I really don't like these cosmetics. I'd expect these from Fortnite, or Overwatch, or League of Legends. Not Dead by Daylight. Vittorio's is nice, Clown's is fine. All the others, no, especially Yui's and Elodie's. I never wanted to see Yui turn into a low-budget anime character.
