Kill Switch update: The issue affecting Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater has been fixed and the cosmetic has been reenabled in all queues with this update.

Hooking system flaw

So recently I have been going against a lot of deathslingers who have been abusing the newish hooking system and are able to still camp the hooks. They will stand just out of range of when the bar would be filling up and just be aiming at the hooked survivor and range camp it. that really needs to be fixed.

    it's anti-face camp, not anti-camp

This is how you know the system is completely useless.

There's no 'i have to consider this every game' or 'this system seems over tuned' or even 'is this the right solution' from people who want to defend it's current state.

There's literally zero discussion allowed about the AFC system. Because it's so easy to circumvent, or outright ignore as the killer, people don't even try to give reasons, all we get is this identical, parroted, and pedantic response to literally every single post that tries to talk about how the system does not appear to do anything functional.

To be fair, they advertised the system as "anti-facecamp" instead of "anti-camp".

I do definitely think there are flaws with the system that should be addressed though, but I do also think it should remain relative to the original intent, which is preventing facecamping or camping directly by the hook.

How do you think this can be a better solution?

We got perks for tunneling. Basekit upon unhooking plus speed. And facecamping isn't a gamestyle anymore.

Camping from the distance. The killer won't protect gens.

But the importaint question. Did you lose all of those matches with deathslinger camping from a distance? How many times did you experience this? Was it the same killer player doing this?

It's an anti-BM-on-hook mechanic. It has literally nothing to do with camping.

That being said: the devs have clarified that the mechanic is working exactly as intended and doing everyting it's supposed to do.

well no, because it’s performing the function that it was designed to: punish the most egregious form of camping, aka face camping

sure, some killers are still viable for proxy camping like deathslinger, t3 Myers, Billy, etc but for the most part, in my games, the system has given me better odds because no longer can someone effortlessly stand directly in front of me and ensure I die; worst case, I can self unhook at the last minute and waste his time

And yet, being able to stand at 11m and prevent an unhook, as op described, appears to be counter to the intended purpose.

So it seems incredibly likely that the mechanic is under tuned. The original ptb implementation was 16m instead of 11m, but it also worked if the killer was on another level/floor. Since they also severely limited the vertical distance (disabled if the killer is on stairs, for example) the 16m distance should also be fine to revert.
