PSA About New Yui Skin
Debated whether or not to resurrect The Thread, but I decided against it, better to let some things lie.
Onto the point though, the new Yui skin tanks FPS so be wary of it. It's especially bad on Killers that need to get close to land hits. Killers like Huntress seem fine, but Killers like Chucky or any of the M1's are having a bad time.
Swung at a Yui with it and instantly lost like 90% of my frames. So just a heads up, be prepared to deal with that.

Not guaranteed to happen at least. I've had zero issues when encountering the skin. My game runs all the same with no frame drop

It also blocks the screen while carrying
3 -
Are you on PC or console? It's likely hardware dependent. A powerful PC may not have this issue but a weaker one or a console may.

Console. I think it might be an issue more oriented towards lower end PC's or old gen consoles since I have the series X
1 -
Series X? That's current gen.

Also the tail from that new skin makes her hitbox bigger

I've only encountered one so far, but it didn't cause any noticeable performance issues (PS5) or significantly block my view while carrying.
I have seen screen shots of the blocked view, though, so I understand it can happen.

Oof…

I've not had it block my view but I do always get lower fps when getting close to a Yui in this skin, and when picking up. I'm on PC.

Also this. It's especially annoying when they've got a wiggle build, teammates sabotaging hooks, etc...

I have a 4070 Ti with a Ryzen 7 7700x and even when I try to M1 or land point blank hatchets on them it causes my game to stutter for a second.
2 -
Can cosmetics be killswitched? Examples like this + the stutters should be enough reasons to killswitch it until fixed.
2 -
BHVR aren't going to killswitch a new cosmetic you need to pay for.
0 -
That might be a different problem then man..
My specs are lower than that and I still run just fine regardless of whats on screen. I even used the skin myself and I didnt have any issues
0 -
Youre acting as if theyve never killswitched exclusively paid for content
0 -
It could be related to the graphic settings in some way.
0 -
Exclusively paid content they just released and are trying to tempt people into buying the battlepass with, though? That'd be a bit like killswitching Lara fresh off release.
I notice the tails already disappear when Yui goes into a locker - they need to make the same thing happen when the killer picks her up. The framerate, though, I'm not sure what to do with that except disable or dumb down the sparkle effect.

Yeah I've got a 4070 ti Super and a beefy CPU I can't recall off the top of my head. 64 GB of DDR 5 RAM.
It also happens on my Series X

Strange, I myself am running a 3070ti, Ryzen 7 5700x and 32gb of DDR4 at 3600mhz.
No clue whats happenin there, but if its affecting people who have even higher specs, at the very least Ill hold off on using the cosmetic.

Could be but I have everything on as high as possible, which atill doesnt make sense
Yeah fair enough
Also yeah the tails as killer is pretty annoying while carrying, def needs to be toned down a bit.

i9 13700K with DDR5 @ 6000 MHZ
Other than me disliking the skin, they should probably not release skins without testing them, tbh.

I didn't imply I had an old gen console. I'm having no issues at all but an older gen console is more suseptible to these issues
0 -
Never have any problems until the skin came in so idk

Sounds like it's time for me to dust off my Optimization Testing Hat (patent pending) and get to work.

So from what I've seen…
It's probably because it's transparent, which means it's Killer dependent. The less of the tail is visible, the fewer calculations the game needs to do, which means less lost FPS.
Basically, keep the tail out of view and you're good.

I've observed that I'm fine playing survivor next to kitsune Yuis and healing/doing gens with them, or chasing and M1ing them, and that level of closeness has yet to give me discernable framedrop. But when I pick them up and the tails get in my face, my FPS consistently tanks to the 10s.
