Making the S-Tier Killers more bearable

The Nurse, Blight and Hillbilly can be considered the strongest killers against the average team. I want to change them fairly so that they are still strong but are more manageable. Skilled Killers should still make these Killers S-Tier. I also compensate them a little bit for their nerfs. I am open for discussion and disagreement. Are these Killers fine and not, how would you change them?

My problems with Nurse

  • The Nurse is uncounterable in some situations if the Killer is Skilled
  • The difference in Skill makes it hard to balance
  • Blinking to a wall with wallhacks can be very strong

My Problems with Blight

  • The Blight has both lethality and Map Traversal
  • You are not always forced to use his power (like a m1-killer)
  • They can get more value from Gen Perks than Weaker Killers.

My Problems with Hillbilly

  • The Hillbilly can both Insta-down and Get around the Map very fast
  • People with trouble hearing cannot react fast enough to a Chainsaw Sprint
  • There is no power Cooldown or management of his Overdrive.

My solutions

Nurse

  • [NERF] The Nurse is unable to Blink to a Target location she does not have direct line-of-sight to.
  • [NERF] While holding your Blink you have the Blindness Status Effect (to nerf aura reading nurse)
  • [NERF] reduced your Attack range by -30 %
  • [NERF] Reduced the maximum range of the Blink by -10 %
  • [BUFF] Increased Base Movement Speed to 4.2 m/s (was 3.85 m/s)

Blight

  • [NERF] Reduced the Base Movement Speed to 4.4 m/s (was 4.6 m/s)
  • [NERF] Decreased the number of available Power Tokens to 4 (was 5)
  • [BUFF] Increased your Movement speed during a Rush by 10%
  • [NERF] Stunning a Blight, resets your available Power Tokens (to add more counterplay)
  • [BUFF] Bad Add-ons should be buffed

Hillbilly

  • [NERF] Increased the Terror Radius to 40 meters (was 32)
  • [NERF] Best Add-ons should be nerfed
  • [NERF] Decreased the decay delay of Overdrive to 5 seconds (was 15)
  • [NERF] Removed the Cool-down time bonus of the Chainsaw while in Overdrive
  • [NERF] When reaching Overdrive your Chainsaw Sprint Stops, you can still use the chainsaw after (a better alternative to the Overheat Mechanic)
  • [BUFF] When reaching a Full Meter the meter is paused and you can press a button to enter Overdrive
  • [BUFF] While in Overdrive, increased the Turn Speed during a Chainsaw Sprint by 20%
  • [BUFF] While in Overdrive, breaking Pallets normally are increased to 30%
  • [BUFF] Bad Add-ons should be buffed

The Nurse, Blight and Hillbilly can be considered the strongest killers in the average game.

Nurse, Blight and Hillbilly are not the strongest killers in the average game. If you mention average, you need to look at a stat that shows the average. Here are some stats:

    • https://new.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1arg1o4/developer_update_stats/
    • https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/350586/stats-kill-rate-by-killer-and-mmr-september-2022#latest

Asides from Hillbilly, these killers have never been at the top of kill rates in an average match. In fact, Nurse has the lowest kill rate on average. These killers are only S tier when played by the best not the average player.

You're conflating winrate with strength and kill rates with balance. Straight numbers don't illustrate the picture accurately.

That being said OP's suggestions are nuts. No thank you

Billy needs a 5 second cooldown every chainsaw use so he can't spam it every time he misses an instadown. In return buff his overdrive duration a little bit.

I think Blight in perfect spot right now (let's forget some overnerfed addons and speed addons reliance against good survivors). Huge no to your suggestion.
Billy can be slightly too strong ONLY in hands of player who mastered him to god tier level and I'm completely okay with it, because all pubs Billy I played against more than manageable and bearable. 40m TR is only change I agree with, but not sure if I want it knowing how annoying Wesker on small maps with his constant TR.
Nurse is the only killer I think needs changes, and your suggestion is not bad, unlike Blight and Billy changes. But I believe, Nurse can see rework only after SWF nerf, so probably never. Also most Nurses in pubs are extremely fun to go against, because they are rarely any good, and your suggestion doesn't make her easier to pick up, probably even harder. And no way even best player will make her S tier with this change, she is probably low A, judging fluently, I think. But anyway, it could be not bad rework on a paper.
    Overall: no, thank you.

What's the whole picture that these stats aren't showing then?

Nurse has already been nerfed enough, and so has blight, without killers like them, coordinated efficient swf teams that know how to play would be absolutely uncounterable. Billy could use some slowing down after missing his sprint tho.

That's a horrible idea, Billy is fine. Indoor maps are brutal for him, windows are a nightmare without bamboozle. 95% of Billies can't curve that well. Literally one of the easiest killers to loop when using their power unless the Billy is cracked or you are caught in a deadzone. At the most give him a cooldown when he is by a hooked survivor.

Blight doesn't need any nerf. He is in a good spot right now. Without Hugtech survivors have much more options to play against him without getting tricked. His Addons are fair and no longer broken - in fact - some of his Add-Ons could get a buff but that's a different story. Yes, he is still a strong and powerful killer but no longer a killer that downs survivors in a bs way. He still has some good counterplays like crouching or faking direction to make him miss.

Nurse is a funny story because I see her like SWF. She is the strongest killer in the game same as good SWF are the strongest but they are rare but oppressive and really strong. In the same way, she is also hard to nerf without making her useless or removing the fun part. The best way to nerf her would be to add more line of sight blockers on the map but this would also nerf many other killers (Huntress, Trickster, Deathslinger) and with the buffed IW it would be even more a nerf for other killers. The devs would also never spend so much time and work into this - so never gonna happen. Giving her Blindness while charging a blink would not be the right step and good nurses wouldn't mind that too much but newer players would struggle even more.

Billy: The only nerf I can see is a change to his overdrive because it is a little bit akward that he gets rewarded for overusing his power even when used wrong or just for mobility - Imagen Trickster would get main event for missing his Knife or Nurse would get an extra blink just because she used her power for mobility.. So in my opinion he could get overdrive for hooking a survivor which would reduce potencial slugging and make downing more rewarding. The Lowpro Add-On is also something that could get a change because it feels akward that either the survivor drops the Pallet and you get the hit or the survivor does not drop the Pallet and you get the hit/down. It is a lose lose situation similar to old Scamper Chucky. As an exchange the crouch tech could be removed. He could get a build in Antifacecamp-mechanic because it feels so stupid that he can just stay with a 99% chainsaw at the hook and there is nothing you can do. But a similar issue has Bubba. Otherwise he is completely fine. 40 meter terrorradius would be not a big deal and not really a nerf that would make him less oppressive.

    You make good points.

I am fine with Blight honestly, he is considered strong but fair. He requires skill and his unhealthy components are removed.

My intention with Nurse, by giving blindness while blinking, is to combat the considered overpowered wallhacks she has. I do not think the Nurse should be balanced around beginners. I could be wrong though.

Billy should be encouraged to use his chainsaw in a chase, not with his mobility. For the anti-camping system, maybe increase his Charge Time to penalize this playstyle. Otherwise, Base Billy is fine in my opinion even though I liked the management of overheat. People like to use a killer's power all the time and do not like to be forced to be a m1-killer sometimes. I have scrapped my ideas because people seem to think I am insane for suggesting changes to him with how overdrive works.
