Werewolf/Wolf-like Killer [Suggested Killer]

Imagine this, you are repairing a generator, glancing around, looking out for the killer when in the distance you hear an ear piercing, blood chilling howl. That chill runs up your spine and you can feel your hands tremble slightly, you have truly become the prey.

I think it would be really neat to add some sort of canine-like killer to the game. Horror movies have quite often been punctuated with the howl of a wolf, at least if they're in more rural/forested areas, which a surprising amount are!

A killer that plagues on this already ingrained fear would be an excellent addition to the roster I think. There are a few ways you can go about it.

A bipedal wolf with opposable thumbs would be the most obvious choice of predator, and one I would support.

However, a hellish hound could also make for a good killer as well, with the perspective of the killer player's camera being from the maw of the killer (See game Natural Selection 2, if you play on the alien's side your camera is in the mouth of the alien and you see the jaws snap shut whenever you attack, its pretty neat), but it could also just be a normal camera view too from the eyes.

Form doesn't matter so much but the powers such a killer would possess do matter. Whether its bipedal and quadrupedal killer that drags its prey to the hooks, its powers really give it its identity.

Some sort of lunge attack would be fitting as a power, a sudden burst of movement to close the gap followed by a snap of the jaws or swinging of the claws, however given killers are becoming more complex nowadays, some near features might be in order…

Honestly, when it comes to power/perk design I don't have a clue what I'm doing, so I ask the community their thoughts on a werewolf/wolf-like/canine killer. Do you like the idea? What powers would you ascribe to it? What would the perks do? Any unique mechanics around such a killer?

Share your thoughts below and thanks for reading! : )

    Interesting idea.

If it were me, I'd consider going for a sort of Shadow Wolf. Some kind of demonic ethereal wolf man shadow form, kinda hinting at the hound of the baskervilles type imagery. Gives lots of scope for potential powers. Something like an amalgamation of this sort of thing:

I imagine something that apply darkness around it's terror radius, having a blood scent to help its prey, and slinking through shadows to shadow as it hunts its victims down

I think it would be awesome to have this kind of killer be stealthy but then also ridiculously imposing, kinda like how Myers can be. Thing is, this is completely different.

Kinda like the guy above me said, maybe have it apply some kind of darkness for survivors and, while in that darkness, there's no terror radius? Obviously there would need to be some kind of counter to that, like maybe a killer-specific item (depending on what time this killer exists and is taken, I'm thinking something as simple as a torch or as intricate as a set of night vision goggles with a limited amount of battery).

No matter how they do it, I'm sure there'll be a werewolf killer eventually, and I hope its power matches the terror of the concept.

Exactly, its a silent hunter but when the chase begins its even more terrifying.

    Ok hear me out…

I think it was during the Vietnam War, US soldiers were being given night vision goggles that instead of the modern green were some kind of red. They began reporting seeing "flying demons" and would shoot at them (this is 100% true btw; most likely caused by some substance that was in the goggles leaking, making the soldiers essentially hallucinate). I know it's not the exact same, but what if it was something like that?

    A hallucinogenic killer?

Kinda just feels like Freddy at that point if I'm being honest. Hell, a killer being a wolf-like manifestation of the entity itself would be a pretty cool backstory in of itself. A predator molded by the entity, adding an extra layer of otherworldliness to it, but then again I think the point of the killers is to harvest the bloodlust from them as well… Hmmmm…

By the way I 100% support a sort of Black Hound approach, I like where your head is at with this :D

I mean yes but no. I was thinking something like the night vision is the only way to see the thing if it's not right next to you. Otherwise, there's that darkness if that makes sense.

Idk, I just like this wolf killer no matter what and I hope we see it sooner rather than later.

So… we kinda got a wolf killer… but its Dracula… I mean its not bad per say… but I'd prefer a more dedicated wolf lol

Dracula seems to chase 90% of the time as the wolf anyway.
