DBD hit almost 100k on steam during 2v8's first day
The only other time we got close to that was Resident Evil's release which I think it got to around 105k or so maybe 110k, now that release was such a buggy mess there was nearly no retention from it not to mention how awful original RPD was I'm not surprised it left a bad impression on a lot of people.
I thought we would never see those numbers again but we hit them today nearly and it's nice to see. Do you think this is another flash in the pan or if in the future if 2v8 became permanent we could see numbers being sustained in the 60k to 75k range? It feels like BHVR got another chance here to get a massive audience and I've interested to see what happens.
Also I can't lie it is just hilarious to see with how often people come in here citing steam charts saying the game is dying.

it is potencial permanent game mode that might happen. it is not very customized at the moment. 90% of killer cast is missing. no perks for survivor or killer. no choice in what add-on or upgrades the killer gets for their power but the base game is neat. the only issue is…. the overwhelming queue times for killer. not enough survivors playing.

The real issue is the game is asking for survivors to willingly go up against a killer SWF.
Survivor SWFs that are using voice comms for competitive advantages, are pretty much the most unfun thing for killers to play against…. And now killers get to use voice comms for competitive advantages.
So of course we have a lot of people that don’t want to play survivor in 2v8.

It's a free slugfest for killers, no reason to queue as a survivor.

Tomorrow will tell us a lot more on whether people stick around or just popped back in to give it a try.
If we're just guessing: I'd say we will revert to the numbers that we've generally had over the next two weeks, probably be a bit higher for a few months, but we're not going to see a long term doubling of the player base. I don't think there's a chance that the numbers remain in the 60k+ range.

400% bp incentive on survivor, I'll tolerate anything for that lol

Smart move by behavior. They know survivors might get sick of pincer maneuvers so they stack them bloodpoints high. Something to wet the beak

Unfortunately it is still somehow not enough to get them to play..

I think day 1 having such lager number of returning killers made it look that way. once the hype die down in a few days the Q times will be fine. OF COURSE i could be completely wrong but with all those bloodpoints survivors will continue to play no matter what.

it's not that survivors don't want to play against a KWF pair, it's that everyone wants to queue as a KWF pair.

They have to give Auric Cells. We'd see people jumping queues immediately.

I don't think "everyone" is playing in a KWF pair. I think there are a lot of people queuing as solo killer in 2v8, because it is still a new game experience for killers.

It's more of the killers having more "fun" content than anything problematic for survivors, basically those who played survivors exclusively due to friends can now play killers too

I don't think those cells can be an incentive like that. They're tied to real money and in Japan particularly such things are regulated, and I think maybe on the Switch as well.

Peaks during events arent relevant towards life time of a game.

Please not permanent. The que is horrible and 100k people with imbalanced que means it makes DBD unplayable for killers. I waited half a hour for a 15 minute game and same for the next game...if this is permanent I'm gonna have to move to another game.

I haven't seen one of those "Look at this one chart which can only measure one small portion of the entire playerbase which prpves the game is dying" posts for quite some time. They were always funny because, despite it only ever being one small portion of the overall playerbase, they kept acting as if it were the entire playerbase. I'm glad they've disappeared.
It's a good showing on Steam though. I'd hasten to bet there are millions playing at any one time. It's definitely healthy.

Yeah, it's an exciting update. I don't understand why some people are so bummed out about this mode. I'd like the killer queues to be shorter, but that's about it. I don't have time to talk about balance much, like I usually do, because I'm having too much fun.

But it generates buzz, which gets more people interested. There's more buzz about this mode than there'd been for like Alien and Chucky combined.

That'll never happen.

If the game is reaching these numbers with only 5 OG killers available in the mode, just imagine what happen if they release 2v8 with all killers available along with more perks for survivors.
