I think 2v8 works great as returning event mode once a few months (3 times per year maybe?). As permenent mode it rly does hurt regular que times and both modes suffer from it.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Like, I'm happy people are having fun, but I just want to play regular 1v4 without having to wait an eternity.
It's rough out here trying to play during off-peak hours.

I'd rather 2v8 was retired so they can work on fixing it's issues ready for the next time it comes out.
Larger killer roster.
Extra Survivor options when chased by 2 killers at once.
Those should encourage more to play survivor and ease the killer queues a bit.
Plus; some form of anti-8K-slug. Maybe everyone gets Unbreakable when there's 3 survivors left, or even just a way to bleed out faster.

They claim they are planning on making the mode permanent so they need to take it away and fix it up, add more killers, add more maps, and balance it out a bit more. I don't want to see it go but I do want more content In it so I'm willing to see it go for that reason. (But I also wouldn't complain if it stuck around a extra week or so, even with long quues)

Yeah it's been taking me up to 15 minutes just to load into a 1v4 killer match. It sucks.

I'm honestly very displeased that the regular gamemode has had to suffer to facilitate 2v8. I've never cared that much for the idea of 2v8 but after this I lowkey don't want it to ever return. We obviously don't have the playerbase for it.

We have enough players but too many killers. So they just need to make it more fun for survivors. If 1vs4 is having trouble in queques then it's just tells most players prefer 2vs8 over it. If you don't like it you don't have to play it.

Non sequitur. It has little to do with preference and everything to do with the fact that the playerbase is now split between two separate queues.
If you don't like it you don't have to play it.
No. I actually just can't play the game at all. I don't have the time to wait in 15 minute queues for 10 minute matches. So glad to see how quick the 2v8 crowd is to alienate the ones who've kept the game alive all these years in 1v4.

Killer, I said in the post lol. Pretty much all of my Survivor matches have been in 2v8 for the BP bonus.
I love 2v8 but the fact that they didn't allow for incentives to be on multiple modes at once in preparation for this mode is insane. Massive oversight.

The devs have taken away incentives from standard mode to funnel all players into 2v8. Survivor bp gains without a bonus are atrocious, so I am "forced" to play 2v8 instead of 1v4 (which I would rather play) simply because of the atrocious grind, and I assume there are others who feel the same.

It’s an easy fix. It really is. It’s not happening in this iteration, it’ll happen in the next.

Of course I'm hung up on queue times. The only role I'm able to play without an absurd wait is 2v8 survivor. Which is also the role I'm least interested in.
I'm not usually one to jump on the "X, Y, or Z will kill the game" train, but if 2v8 becomes permanent I actually truly think it'll put DbD on its last legs. I'm entirely ready to walk away if 2v8 is here to stay. There's other games out there that I could play that actually respect my time instead of making me wait 10 minutes for a match.

This isn’t a permanent issue. This is just the first iteration and again it’s a very easy fix.

It should never have been an issue in the first place. Having to disable 1v4 incentives and bribe survivors with unprecedented BP bonuses in the 2v8 mode shows a completely lack of foresight from BHVR and a massive lack of respect for those of us who just want to play the regular mode 👍
Not to mention just how horrendously buggy DbD has been as of late. I’ve always maintained that diverting players and resources away from the main game was a bad idea and I’m yet to be proven wrong.

Disabling the 1v4 incentive was necessary. It’s not going anywhere. Collecting data on 2v8 was necessary. Putting the BP incentive, was necessary. It wasn’t a bribe.
Is it a bribe when they throw up 100% survivor during the day but all I wanna do is play killer? No…bp goes where the traffic is needed to help queue times. It was just a means to help the queue.
People are taking this SOOOO personal and it’s not. Blows my mind.
Battlefront 2 had half the player base but could delegate multiple game modes Galaxtic Assault 20v20 Capital Supremacy 20v20 HeroesVsVillians 4v4 Ewok Hunt 20 players, Blast Mode. 10v10.Dbd with a bigger player base can handle 1v4 and 2v8.
This was a trial run. Next run they can work out the queue times among everything else they mentioned.1 -
Funny you should mention Battlefront. Can’t speak on the second game because I never played it, but the reason I left the first one is because I could never find a game 🤣
Doesn’t look like the second is doing so great either…
If DbD wants to go down that route, I wish them well, but they’ll be doing it without me.

You’re pulling old data..Those Stats are dead. The live service has been shutdown for a couple of years. I never played the first one, but played bf2 from the beginning since launch…during live service the queue times were very fast.

Live service ended May 8 2020. We had no issues with queue times. 🤷🏼♂️ I haven’t even included Xbox yet.

Dang. I haven’t tried killer in regular queue. Guess it makes sense though. I did have a few survivor matches where the 15 minute queue time didn’t stop killers from camping and tunneling into a quick match.

The game was cut off while it was thriving because they were forced to work on Battlefield.Not battlefronts fault. Not because it was dead. 🤷🏼♂️

I don't think they will and as it stands now they probably are reconsidering their intention to make it permanent, honestly. It's a great addition for casual players but it is way too detrimental to overall queues. Chaos Shuffle would work better as a permanent "unranked mode", at least until they ever manage to find the miracle drug for 2v8.

It’s not our fault that killers want to play with friends, the killer mains that have no friends is not our fault you’re load times are so long, they can add bots to speed up the queue times honestly, same for killer bots, like how the tutorial is or something but this game mode is amazing and should definitely be permanent

Sadly, 2v8 simply cannot be there for extended periods of time, even less so be a permanent fixture.
Queue times are horrible for Killers, even in normal 1v4 due to apparently not having the playerbase for it, because playing Killer coop is the mode's most appealing aspect and largely the reason why it's been requested for most of the game's lifespan. Barring giving people playing Survivor 1000% BP incentive, double exp and actual Iri Shards there's no way people will equally/mostly play Survivor.
Keep in mind the free weekend we just had, meaning during that time there were more players than normal (which should make queues shorter) and yet the Killer queues were still 15+ minutes (and god forbid the game/server crashed).
It might be worthy of a temporary appearance every few months (to leave time for important bug fixes & updates) but there's no way this mode can be a permanent thing and it shouldn't be there for longer.
The only "mode" that should be "permanent" should be Chaos Shuffle (just make it a setting you can toggle, no need to nuke queue times by having a separate queue, there's already challenges that do it so there's no reason to not do it).

The second most glaring issue (although not quite as important short-term as "I gotta wait 15+ minutes for a 6 minutes game") is the fact that due to the limited number of available Killers and the lack of perks, there's very little variety and the mode would become less appealing over time, especially for Survivors which would make the problem worse.
Until they somehow find a solution to queue times and make every Killer playable without making the game crash so hard you are sent back into the past, the mode simply cannot stay.

Unpopular opinion but 2v8 was not that great. It was mostly popular due to novelty, the ability for killers to play together, and the fact it was in demand for a long time. There are 2 main issues for me with 2v8 that BHVR needs to address.
- The actual mode has reduced survivor gameplay, in a game where many survivors already say the gameplay is stale. Removing the ability to get flashlight or pallet saves was a big mistake. BHVR should have had remote hooking but with a 1sec delay after picking up in order to avoid the issues of the anniversary event. The lack of killer variety isn't great either.
- The queue times are horrible for killers and the standard mode. I actually have mostly stopped playing dbd until the event ends because of how long it takes to get a match. I'm sure there are many others like me.
A lot of the issues with 2v8 BHVR can fix in time but they will absolutely need to address them, especially if they intend this to be a permanent mode at some point. I personally would rather have BHVR invest in 5v5 or VIP modes since those have always been the most interesting to me.

Unless then next iteration does nothing to solve the queue discrepancy and they're forced to disable the incentives on 1v4 again.
Oh did you also notice how page 2 of the challenge tome has zero killer challenges as well?
They have a lot to do if they're going to get more people playing survivor.
Survivors need something new and interesting, in 2v8 playing killer with friends is the new and interesting thing, and it's going to be hard to top that. At the very least, survivors need a way of dealing with being 'double-teamed', some bonus effect that procs when 2 killers are chasing you at once. But I'm not sure that alone would be enough.
They also need to drastically increase the killer roster. This will make games a little less stale for survivors, however it could also mean more people play killer once their favourite killers are playable, so it could have the opposite effect and make queues worse.
