Will BHVR ever give Aestri the female model instead of the male?
Discussion in the title. Im sure weve all noticed Aestri has the male survivor model in game and im wondering if bhvr ever plans on giving Aestri the female model or was this intended by bhvr to give her the male model.

I am pretty sure it’s intentional that Aestri got the male body and her being the first ‚tall‘ woman.
It’s weird that they chose a DnD elf for this as they are (from what i gathered from others posting) smaller than their human counterparts but.. I guess it is what it is now.
Her and Baermar having the same base model will stay otherwise all cosmetics need to be adjusted for both types leading to way too much effort..

No

I would love if they did because I really don't like how bulky the male models are but I highly doubt it's ever going to happen at this point.

it’s strange how they gave her a big model though
I’m fairly certain elves are almost always depicted as being on the smaller side and lanky

i agree, i love Aestri but the male models feel so bulky

That makes sense, idk why they would do that with Elf lore making them smaller than normal humans but i guess they had to do something since that might not work in this game

they should have created a female human and male elf and used the female model

I doubt it. I think that she is that tall and has the male model and movement is simply due to technical reasons. They wanted to have two characters, but did decide against a Legacy Skin and against a second Survivor, so they instead just solved it via Cosmetics. And this left her with the male model and animations.
I think this is also the reason why she is an Elf (and the guy is not), simply because it would look more weird if she was just a regular human.

I mean they didn't even want to give Ellen Ripley the male model so I don't expect any changes. For the record Sigourny Weaver is like 6 foot something but the game's model is kinda tiny...

Elves are generally depicted as tall and thin, thats the majority of elvish characters in gaming / tv series or rp media i have seen at least

Thin yes but they generally are depicted as shorter than humans, actually.

since when?

At least in DnD and old folklore (where they originate from) they have been described as shorter than humans.
I think it was LotR that introduced Elves that are taller than humans (funnily enough, the German word is specifically different than the traditional word for Elves in LotR). Other modern media possibly have taken this over such as Elder Scrolls(?).
though in this very case, we should take the DnD description which afaik has always been shorter.0 -
Ok that explains alot XD I have so far only been playing Baldurs Gate 3, thats been my introduction to DnD. Have been in roleplaying groups before (online chat, not pen & paper) but we used a diffrent galaxy far far away as our playground. So not mutch DnD knowledge from my end.
And in Baldurs gate 3, my elves are also taller than humans because of the other media you mentioned ;)1 -
The elves in DnD are shorter than humans. I guess in other media they’re taller than humans but Aestri is based on a DnD elf, so she should be smaller than Baermar.

Hopefully she never does. It would be cool if she got the female animations though.

I mean that's just the 'average' height, there's still gonna be very tall female elves so it's not that odd.

Yeah, I think BHVR's been exceptionally cowardly when it comes to giving characters different body types. If they changed Aestri's model she'd lose something that makes her stand out a little.

True, you’re right. She should be much thinner though as DnD elves are very slim.
