Respectfully, A important Question regarding royalties for the FNAF Chapter
I'm sorry but I have to ask, Respectfully, Will any of the money from sales of this new chapter go to the creator? Just because DBD is supportive of LGBTQ and Pride, but the creator of FNAF has put money towards anti-trans parties in the past, so it is a concern for me as a potential buyer. I'm not hating or saying this is bad, I just want to know before I buy the chapter.
Again I want to make it clear I don't judge anyone or care if anyone buys this chapter, and I am delighted for the many players asking for this for years, but I just wanna know exactly how this works out and where my personal purchase may end up going.
Please don't hate on me, or attack me, I just want to know.

The creator is still the owner.
It was mentioned in an interview that he still controls the IP, so I'd have to assume that the money will be going to him, at least at some level if not completely.

Considering the promo image had "Copyright Scott Cawthon" on it, I'd say yes.
Which is a shame.

Will any of the money from sales of this new chapter go to the creator?
I would have to assume that this will be like any other license chapter and the creator gets a cut from each sale.
4 -
He is the creator and deserves the money for his creation being used, so he will rightfully get it. And Putting his content in the game is not an endorsement of his viewpoint obviously.
22 -
The creator of into the rainbow got fired in the layoffs and the only lgbtq original character we have is david, who happens to be a free character.
Im sorry but we are never ever going to get more lgbtq representation, let alone bhvr isn't going to prive scott of money because of his actions.

Giving money to someone directly supports their livelihood and further goes to establish their viewpoints
14 -
Putting his IP in the game doesn't mean they endorse his viewpoint, it just means that his views and actions don't bother them enough to say no.
25 -
He has literally apologized because he wasn't aware of what the charity stood for. He hasn't donated to them since. You people just refuse to let people make mistakes or apologize for them.

We are not here to discuss the personal life of a developer, the money will go to him as it should.
If you don't like it, don't buy the content and move on, but wipe your tears first.10 -
Thank goodness FNAF is garbage.
Won't be a struggle to not buy the chapter.

Just a gentle reminder to everyone that we should all be civil, I made this post in hopes a BHVR person could see and answer, i Dont want us to turn heated before a BHVR rep answers.

What if the survivor has really good perks?
2 -
They shouldn't say no either. Every person is free to do with their money what they want. Besides Bhvr makes money for this that could go to LGBT causes.
6 -
A viewpoint he is entitled to have in the country he lives in. You shouldn't let someone's viewpoints stop you from enjoying things they have created.
11 -
I fully agree when it's not giving them monetary support. I'm a huge fan of lovecraft, but he was a nightmare of a person. I just can't justify giving money to a person who supports people fighting against civil rights
6 -
BHVR can do whatever, they just shouldn't make queer acceptance part of their brand, and then work with someone who contributes to harming queer people.
14 -
this is basically why i want BHVR to answer my question, and address this.
6 -
Well said, they can do whatever they want. Business is business at the end of the day and it's hard to say no to millions of dollars. Especially when you have to pay people so they can feed their families.

Then I'm extra safe you Silly Goose, survivors don't get good perks anymore.
7 -
you say that like i cant make Lara Croft whip out a musical instrument to seduce the killer now 😍

Got a source for that? Cos all I can find is him refusing to apologise for funding anti-queer politicians, and claiming that the LGBT community would be worse off under democrats than under The Orange Menace, so his donations were actually pro-LGBT. Which is genuinely laughable.
If he has actually acknowledged the harm that supporting bigots causes then so be it. But I haven't seen anything like that.

His response to the same flame he's gotten years ago becauseof stupid people blowing it up out of context. He's supporting what's he believes that will help the our country the most like any other American citizen giving his vote to the political person that he believes would be the best for this country.
12 -
There's a 100% chance he gets money from this. I can't imagine a scenario where he doesn't.

Tubarao (a skin for Renato) is transmasculine
1 -
Here make your choice.
2 -
I know… but he is licensed. All lgbtq representation is riskless… you get the point, we'll never even get something as close as a tome for tubarao.

I think BHVR should donate all proceeds they make from FNAF dlc to charities that support the lgbt+ community.
7 -
Yes, he is prepared to sacrifice queer folk, because he feels the country will be better overall. He should own that instead of pretending that he supports anti-queer politicians because it's what's best for queer people in the long run.

Oh God, it's half an hour long. I need to sleep, but I'll look this over tomorrow.

Fair enough tip the facts are at the end like the 15 or the 12 min mark I don't remember. but I recommend the whole thing because it helps put things into prospective

On the contrary, wilful association with hateful bigotry - acceptance of it and funding of it - is contemptible.
So yes, collaborating with Scott Cawthon and financially supporting him is in fact an endorsement of him.
Whereas if one felt strongly that LGBTQ people should not have their rights threatened, infringed upon, or destroyed, one would not do that.10 -
Not that it bothers me but this sure seems like a double standards on BHVR

They will be in the Shrine in the following few weeks.

The simple truth is, in this modern interconnected world, that you cannot buy anything (product or service) without putting money into the pockets of someone that disagrees with you. If any of you have watched "The Good Place:" you will also understand that almost every action you take has negative consequences as well, even when you don't mean for it to do so. Sometimes when you donate to a charity you find out that hardly any of the money went to the people you thought you were helping, and a lot went to people you don't like. Sometimes you put the money directly into the hands of a homeless person thinking you bought them dinner, only to find out later you bought them booze or hard drugs and they died because of it.
The world is complex. When it comes to intellectual properties there is always someone connected that you don't know about. Likewise, some of the greatest IPs are connected to people that had questionable if not downright horrific beliefs in their personal lives. If you feel better, get a satisfaction from denying yourself access to something to deny someone else money, that is a reasonable enough reason to do it. If you are able to divest the IP from the creator, then likewise that is a perfectly respectable reason to feel comfortable enjoying that IP. For my own part, I largely do not follow nor care about the creator's of IP (even those I particularly enjoy). I don't care about the creators, only the work. I think good people are quite capable (and have) done terrible things, and that bad people have, from time to time, produced good things. With that in mind I judge the the art, not the artist.
All that being said, I could care less about Five Nights coming to Dead by Daylight. It isn't an IP I associate with horror, a fun video game, or most recently a good movie. I consider it all B-Reel material at best. It won't bother me to run from a mechanical mascot, nor will it impress me. The new arrivals will join the ranks of many other Killers that are just kind of "there:" for me. I realize this is personal opinion, but I've never understood the excitement around this IP. I won't buy it unless the Perks seem so good that I don't want to wait on the Shrine. ;)

This. They (BHVR) have a pinned message at this very moment from about almost 2 years ago that shares a unique experience and the level of impact that inclusivity has on some of us. This was right upon when they revealed David was a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Which I think many of us shared a similar experience, and celebrated this wholesome moment.
It would be rather absurd not to take notice of the baggage and controversy that comes with FNAF creator's questionable choices. It seems odd but not surprising (as a company) that BHVR would want to embrace this brand as future collaboration content. It is a shame because it sort of diminishes their efforts and backtracks on their message, even if that isn't what they mean to do.
My personal opinion is that I personally don't care about the brand itself or it's creator. Even with his apology, his reasoning sounds like a single issue voter problem without the understanding the full scope of what's at stake (I have some of those in my family). We can dissect his history and go down that rabbit hole all we want, at the end of the day we are all free to make choices, even if those choices are wrong.

I am very sure BHVR rly took their time to check if they even want to license. They do try to not offend any communities. Remember when Unknown was being teased? Some people were worried it would borrow from Native Americans culture and BHVR directly responded that this isn't the case for sure. They allready many times said they have their team and experts or hire people to help them with this to not offend anyone.
You think PR team don't consider persons they want to colaborate with? They ofc do and that means Scott isn't anti-LGBTQ+. If he rly was I am sure they would just not take the license because it would be just fire pit and againts their own words and policy.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism but that doesn't mean you cannot make decisions based on the information available to you at the time, and the morals you currently have.
9 -
I don't disagree. I believe I said the same thing, i.e. if it is important to you, do so. I'm just pragmatic about it.

Keep in mind Terminus from Wesker has only showed up one single time in over two years and that was a whole year after its release.
1 -
Well its a good thing he is not a hateful bigot at all as addressed in a video from game theory; where Scott did not realize the charity he donated to, had that stance. He did not donate to the charity with the intention to stop LGBT people. He donated only because of his political stance. Just like people can like and vote for a president and not agree with every policy that that candidate endorses.
4 -
Idk why you argue with these people. They literally don't and never will care until it's them in the hot-seat because critical thinking and reading comprehension isn't something that can be spoonfed.
I'd just say redouble your efforts irl and you'll see that real people do care and progress is on a challenging but decent pace.
6 -
They almost always include recent perks in the Shrine when they release alongside a challenge tome for that chapter, to enable players to complete the perk specific challenges. This now happens for all original chapters and some licensed chapters.
Given how big a deal they're making of FNAF (for better or worse) I think there’s a strong possibility of a concurrent tome.
1 -
I mean its just indirect "he hates us because he is on this side of the political compass" he even openly said he supports the lgbtq but I mean thats fine if you can't seperate someone from their political affiliation but I can so im gonna buy it if its good.
3 -
I do think something has to be said about the single issue voter problem, and that there is something different when it extends to a wealthy public figure and large donations. It isn't quite the same thing as an individual exercising their democratic right to vote, votes which are after all private. We wouldn't be having these conversations if it were the same thing.
Much like how there is a difference between an individual "expressing a personal opinion", and a public figure using their vast fortune and social platform to soapbox an anti-trans agenda.
It ultimately comes down to an inequality of power, and how that power is weilded.

I am just hoping a dbd rep like Peanits or Mandy see this and address my concerns before this thread gets closed

Its a Horror Game, the people Like IT and where the many Go from the creator IS His Personal Thing.

This agreed. Scott gave to wrong charities, apologized. Its like hes a monster like the creator of Jeepers Creepers or whatever thats called. Scott is a good man
3 -
Agreed, you seem like a good and rational person. It has all been explained that Scott meant no harm
