Why The Unknown DIRECT hits do absolute nothing?
You should be rewarded for landing a direct shot on someone, yet it does nothing. No, I don't count useless "Hindred" effect that lasts less time than pressing light switch. I hope in that upcoming update coming soon this is adressed. It feels bad when you hit direct shots.

because you shouldnt be rewarded for direct shots with the power using bouncing projectile which is what gives it depth.
why would you be creative with your shots and use environment when you can just point and click?

I'd say that it's what makes Unknown unique compared to the other ranged killers. That said, I wouldn't necessarily be against a direct hit refreshing the Weakened duration.
6 -
We already have like four killers that get free hits with ranged attacks we don't need another.
9 -
Yes, something like this. I am not asking for damage per direct hit but at least reset or refund some portion of the weakend effect to at least give you extra chance to fire again if you hit at least directly something.
7 -
If you throw a granade the explosion is what does the damage not the damn granade
In all seriousness you should wait for the upcoming-changes, which will probably tackle his obnoxious cooldown.
5 -
it already works like that. you get 50% of weaken state back if you injure someone with UFX. the problem with unknown is that his weaken effect is does nothing. it is only there to increase required hit count for his range power. He has bouncing mechanic to his ability but he has no reward for utilizing the direct hit mechanic.
I hope they make his weaken state do something like actually weaken the survivor if they don't look at him. Maybe the survivor suffers 3% hindered so his m1 game is better. it would simulate the killer weakening the survivor. He also needs some add-on's base-kit like that blurry photo add-on.

I know it's not exactly on topic, but I always found his grenade launcher just felt really bad to use. It might be my history of playing FPS games like Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc., but nothing about it feels good or consistent. It bounces like a timed grenade, but has a variable time because it detonates on the second hit. But it also has a fairly slow and low arc which feels more appropriate for an impact detonation like the Flak Cannon in Unreal or the Grenade addon in Doom 2016.
I know this isn't an FPS but cmon that power is a grenade launcher. It should work like a grenade launcher not this weird half-measure it has now. If it has to be nerfed or adjusted in other ways that would be fine, but I absolutely despise how the "grenade" handles right now. Deathslinger feels great if you play any FPS games. He's one of my mains because of it. Unknown does not.

Because that's not the type of power Unknown was meant to have.
1 -
While it shouldnt dmg it should at the very least add some time for the weakened effect because right now even an amazing snipe as unknown is useless if it was a direct hit.
2 -
Give debuffs to the Weakened state repair penalty hindred exhaustion anything and make direct hits hindred last longer

Man has never gotten a direct hit kill with a grenade or noobtube in cod and it shows
1 -
this aint cod
6 -
Why should they?
1 -
either way getting a direct hit should be skillful and rewarding especially if its an arcing grenade
2 -
You should be rewarded more for sure
1 -
Anything that hit and injure is free in eyes of some people
1 -
no it shouldnt be & it isnt because the unknown's power isnt designed to encourage direct hits any more than it does now by slowing survivor down briefly. getting direct hits is pretty easy especially at close enough range and it has very little counterplay which is why it's not something unknown is encouraged to do.
being forced into bouncing the projectile makes you use environment which creates unique gameplay.
4 -
i think you are right but some effect like a short hinderance should be applied like .5 seconds

Others have beat me to it, but it's intended for direct hits to be insignificant for The Unknown and this is not something that we're looking to change at this time. This was done to a) encourage use of the blast zone & ricochet effects, and b) to differentiate this power from other ranged Killers.
If you're after meaty direct hits, a Killer like The Huntress or The Deathslinger may be more up your alley. It's not the intention for The Unknown, however.

Thank you for letting us know Peanits

No offense but if you read the other comments then why are you acting like he said he wants a direct health state to be gone when he said he just wants the timer to be refreshed or SOMETHING to happen other than punish you😭
3 -
if you want a killer with a projectile that deals a health state for landing a direct hit, mayble play huntress?

Is it intended that the Staring Down the Unknown mechanic doesn't actually require the survivor to stare at the killer? The staring mechanic starts almost instantly after the survivor looks at the killer, and has a 1.25 second buffer…
…this means that the survivor can be looking away from the killer, and can quickly flick their camera to the killer for an extremely small amount of time once per second, and the game considers that 100% uninterrupted staring. It also means that if the survivor sees the killer through a crack in a wall for an extremely short period of time, that counts as 1.25 seconds of staring. And if the survivor is using a decent DPI setting on their mouse, then flicking their camera takes a very small amount of time.
I don't understand why there isn't a much longer minimum amount of time the survivor needs to stare at the killer, before the buffer can happen. (i.e. if the survivor stares at the killer for less than 1 second, then the buffer doesn't happen after line of sight is broken). I also don't understand why the buffer is a whole 1.25 seconds, because that means if the killer tries to duck behind objects as they chase the survivor, it often feels like a waste of time, because unless the killer breaks line of sight for over 1.25 seconds, it's like they aren't breaking line of sight at all.

It's probably for the best that the buffer stays.
It feels rough for me when I don't realize that a survivor has me 99d but in the grand scheme of things I think it genuinely does a lot to help the Unknowns enjoyment for survivors.
I'm not against Unknown receiving help, I just worry that the wrong buffs will upset their balance as a Killer generally loved by both sides . I'm a console killer and Tricksters buffs making him 4.6m killed him for me even though I was desperate for a buff.
A Lil somethin somethin like basekit Monitor would be more healthy and appreciated than touching UVX or allowing them to see Weakened status in real time
1 -
Then why would we ever want to play a ranged killer that requires two hits to injure while arguably his TP a side power is stronger then his main power we'll stick with even trickster enjoy having made the newest least picked range killer see ya in 2 years when ya bend the knee like ya did with other killers

This is the scenario, where I think bHVR should use this opportunity to create more options for Killers. Ill explain it.
Ultra-rare Addons have often been considered as really good addons, but also addons that change the playstyle of the Killer.
Now consider that we have a player here which wishes to play in a unorthodox way, Surely that means you could make a specific Ultrarare addon that enables that, in addition to the two already existing addons.
The Player is asking for you to enable some unintended Skill Expression for this Killer, Surely your Game Designers wanna see it.
+ We often get people in here saying the game is too easy, I think you can give them a challenge here.1 -
agree. lack of reason for weaken state and that grenade mechanic to exist. The grenade in that case should explode on contact like regular grenades launchers in fps game with the classic bounce explosion mechanic. noobtubing is often labelled as very low skill mechanic in fps games.
2 -
I suppose a good way of looking at it is the shot has the AoE, so if you give the effect off the direct hits as well, it basically allows you to fire at survivors as you please, and if you miss, you've got an AoE to give you a second chance of landing the hit, making using the Unknown braindead and boring to play/face.
Imagine if Huntress hatchets exploded and still hit you, even when she misses... that would seem pretty BS and unfair, and would be exactly what the Unknown would feel like.
With it being only the ground explosion that matters, the Unknown gets to enjoy being a unique ranged killer, having to target terrain near survivors instead of the survivors themselves, giving it unique mindgames and engaging gameplay of its own.
1 -
I think the UVX power itself is completely fine, and is interesting once you figure out how the bounce rules work.
The main problem is the reveal mechanic is so survivor sided that it’s just really stressful and frustrating for the killer. The time window for two shots (or three shots) on the same survivor is way too small, especially if the survivors know how to use quick camera flicks to get a very high reveal uptime.1 -
every other ranged killer: B) it should at least infect
0 -
no it shouldnt, it's enough it applies slowdown.
1 -
A slowdown on the level of old licker tonge too.
1 -
this is just factually wrong
1 -
Lots of survs would say her hatchet explode with those hitboxes
1 -
they said the same with nemesis infect slowdown and look who got slowdown buffs it'll happen with unknown too
1 -
look above, it won't.
at least not another 4 years till unknown is powercrept, if unknown is powercrept.
