Kill Switch update: The issue affecting Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater has been fixed and the cosmetic has been reenabled in all queues with this update.

The Dark Lord's Wolf form mostly hinders you

If you need mobility, use the Bat form, if you need a chase power, use the Vampire form, so what is the Wolf form good at?

As of right now, the Wolf is most likely supposed to be a middle ground between those two, a gap closer. You hit a Survivor, then catch up with the Wolf's pounce, there are however several issues with this approach.

Current issues

The Wolf has a very small hitbox compared to any other "pounce" killer, it is very difficult to hit Survivors with him, especially since you are forced to do a second punce right after you fail the first one.

Around loops that aren't in a straight line the Wolf is basically unusable. He has a very low movement speed in between the two pounces, making positioning really difficult for the second pounce.

The Wolf has this strange mechanic where going backwards drastically slows him down, even tho it makes sense, it doesn't feel good to play and no other killer has this mechanic.

Most of the Wolf's add-ons center around the Scent Orbs, it wouldn't hurt to have a few pounce related add-ons I think, since most of the Wolf's add-ons do the same thing.

How to solve them

For the pounce hitbox, either allow the Wolf to slightly curve in the direction he's looking at in the middle of the pounces, or just simply increase the size of the hitbox. Also it wouldn't hurt if the speed during the in between time of pounces was a little bit faster so positioning in loops was a bit easier.

For the backwards-speed penalty, either remove it or reduce it, I know it is realistic and looks nice, but during gameplay it is really annoying.

As of Add-ons, I think it would be fun if there was an Add-on that increased the amount of pounces by 1, yet somewhat hindered you, like longer cooldown, or less scent orbs, there aren't also any status effect add-ons, which is quite strange. Maybe there could be an add-on that would work like this: After the first pounce, all your other pounces apply mangled on hit.

I have came back to this game from my break just to try Dracula out, I must say I'm really happy how he turned out, other than the current version of the Wolf form, I think he's almost perfect!

The backstep on wolf form is perfectly fine. The wolf form NEEDS a weakness and being unable to mind game is fair.

I think i would do two changes to it.

    • A bit more help with the pounce. Its hard as hell to hit something with, between the short range pounce, the short hitbox and the short time where you can adjust for your second pounce.
    • I would love if the orbs could also appear when survivors are standing still or walking, even if its at a lower rate to compensate. This would solidify the Wolf as the "tracking tool". Travel with the Bat, and once you reach your destination, do you see the survivors? If no, then change into Wolf to track and find them. But right now it seems Wolf is mostly just for chasing instead of tracking the survivors.

Other than that, the Wolf has been massively buffed from PTB. Seriously, if you used it before, its like night and day right now. They did most of the changes we were asking for (faster movement speed, faster orb speed, M2 not cancelling while colliding and pallet breaking animation reduced), and they also did add some nice cooldown reduction on top of it.

The wolf form is his strongest form, as you can not only be smaller than most loops so survivors have no information on you, but you are also third person. So you have a massive information advantage vs survivors at most loops in the game. Furthermore, the scent orbs make you even faster than a normal speed killer without any perks, and we all remember how we felt about made for this right?

I could go on but if anything wolf form needs to be toned down a little. It just requires some practice. Approaching the wolf form like you are approaching another killer you keep comparing the wolf to is what is holding you back.

Nobody good is getting consistently hit by the wolf at a tile. The forced double pounce really ruins it for me. Unless there's a way to cancel it that I'm not aware of.

If your bar for a killer is always winning any loop, then you would be better suited to playing an S tier.

However, you can get fairly-guaranteed hits at a lot of loops as the wolf. I even asked one of the best NA comp players to confirm my experience after playing vs a great Dracula who stayed in wolf form the whole game and destroyed the team, and the player said that you can only predrop pallets and do really obscure pathing and hope the wolf mindgames to win if you can't see him.

So if you want to start referencing good players, there you go.

Also wolf can hug tech which makes even more loops free for it.

Wolf form is really fun, it does its job and it has a lot of fun build synergy with it!

I'm personally enjoying rapid brutality + STBFL with monitor and the lunar necklace for 20m TR and the increased tracking range for information, and surge for regression

my only complaint for dracula right now is the bat form is too loud on the killer side.

And not a single time I had a problem looping the wolf no matter the loop, so even if you play him as a faster m1 with a pounce and not a power-only killer it's completely useless, the vampire form is still stronger with less cooldown because he can hit you through a lot of loops.

You will play against more experienced players as people practice the wolf more. I looped plenty of wolves besides that one player I played against, so this is why relying on experienced players and testing matters more than just what has happened in a handful of public games in a couple days.
