Dead by Daylight is just a tool that bad people use to be awful to others.

Killers that facecamp tunnel just to ruin one person's game.

Survivors that SWF as 2 or 3 so that they can bully the other teammate(s).

Whatever side I'm playing… I feel like more than 80% of my games are contaminated in some way. Solo Survivor without a leaver in the first 60 seconds? Good luck, friend. Killer game without some abusive map offering, with a bunch of synchronized GGEZ's in postgame chat? Fat chance.

The list of ways that people use this game for the sole purpose of being ######### to everyone else is truly endless. This game has more "People being ######### to others" YT content than any other game, by a large margin. And anyone that plays this game can immediately understand why - unless they are on the side of being the offenders, of course. Because, in this game, you either grief or get griefed.

And it's just so incredibly bad out there.

I firmly… firmly believe that BHVR should record all games & chats, and share all of this game's data with the FBI and relevant local police, because doing so would help locate a lot of legitimately problematic people, probably prevent a lot of bad things from happening, and overall we could probably clean up this world if we simply had access to DBD's data.

Convince me otherwise.

If you think the endgame chat is bad, you should've heard old COD lobbies. If DBD endgame chat should get the FBI sicked on someone, COD lobbies should be straight to the electric chair.

Don't hate the player, hate the developers for creating that environment. Don't complain about camping and tunneling, killers are playing to win.

It's the anonymity of the internet. Messing with someone in real life comes with the risk of a fist to the face. Hiding behind a computer screen is safe and people feel emboldened. Thankfully though, in my personal experience, most people are fine. Bad eggs are few and far between. I suppose it depends on what you consider griefing. Some things I don't take personally.

honestly I’ve definitely been guilty of doing this in the past

years ago the super overpowered ######### that could make a game miserable was way worse

I think you need a break, friend.

Why do I need a break because other people play this game to grief others?

Literally as I type this, I'm minimized as my whole team is slugged and bleeding out, with 4 gens remaining.

Are you saying the two people yesterday that sat at the exit gate for 2.5 minutes straight, while I ran the Killer the whole time, waiting for a protection hit…

Who then teabagged me as I died on my first hook, and then mocked me in postgame chat…

You're telling me that none of these players are playing to grief???

What kind of fantasy land do you live in??? Welcome to the real world. People are like this.

Why engage with post game chat in the first place? If there's a map offerings I don't bother with post game chat at all. The sweatiest players are the rudest and they often bring map offerings, they can hang out in post game chat while I get into another match. Doesn't matter if they BM or wait at gates, if you pick up a bad vibe from the match just dip.

Dead by daylight is a haven for bad behavior and intentionally ruining other players gaming experience without fear of major consequences. I think that's intentional because it's been like this for years and nothing significant has been done about it.

Just the cheating/hacker problem, which is rarely discussed and much avoided as possible. If you search for dbd and cheats on YT and filter for the last 24 hours, you can see how serious this problem is. Some cheaters even make money on Twitch and YT by showing how easy it is and have been doing it for years.

    This is just a topic.

DC's humping, slugging and hugely toxic after chats are very regular occurrences. It's similar in other games, but at least there it's regularly punished.

The best thing to do is simply not to spend money on it to not support it.

If all you see is toxicity, then it might be worth considering that your perception of other people might be the issue. It's quite easy to perceive toxicity where none is intended. I've seen plenty of people get tilted by something completely innocent, just because they were already in a bad mood.

There's plenty of toxic players, but it's not 80%. Not even close.

Imagine being so sensitive to video game griefing that you think reporting game chats to the ######### FBI is a reasonable position to have
If people are being dicks, you walk away, you do not engage with it, just make a report and leave

This game has let people be various varieties of pricks to each other for years, if that’s not something you can handle at this point in the game’s life, then leave, nothing is keep you here

Nah, some people are just douchebags, especially in post game chat. I think BHVR should ban people from post/pregame chat if they get reported a ton and are clearly being rude but that pretty much doesn't happen unless you fling slurs or make death threats. It doesn't even need to be a game ban, just a chat ban.

Either that, or just remove communications report completely, remove the filter, let all hell breaks loose. What's the difference anyway? The current system is stupid and lets people to be awful without repercussion.

Our views don't really conflict with each other. There are plenty of what the OP describes as "bad people". I just saw SpooknJukes most recent video, which shows just how rotten some people truly are. Genuinely, the depths that online folk will often sink to after losing a match is terrible.

But most players are just messing around when they troll. If the OP sees every slight as demonstrating how terrible they are as a person, I would say that's overkill. There's no way the OP is encountering the worst of the worst at a rate of 80%. Encountering that much genuine toxicity suggests to me that the OP might need to fine tune their perception of others. If someone intentionally sandbagged me (that's right Bill, it's been four years and I still haven't forgotten), I wouldn't view them as being a bad person.

Right, I've got an eight hour drive to do now.

Most of people, especially from the first world countries, live in the world of pink unicorns, believing that humans are generally good and not absolutely rotten and despicable. They are disconnected from reality. I've seen enough players acting toxic for the only reason — because they can. I've also seen what streamers actually say when they innocently "tbag" at the exit gate or sandbag their teammate when they don't play as they like. So, I agree with you — as multiplayer game, DbD is a tool for people to harass and bully others. Removing chat and introducing stricter punishments would have made the game a bit more tolerable, but Behavior is hellbent on building "a community" around the game rooted in sore winner culture and pro-abuse.

    It's not about me.

    It's about them.

If you know someone is a serial killer, avoid them, right? Sure. Good.

But now what? Who's gonna look into the serial killer? It's not about me. It's about them.
