Back after 10 months... and struggling

I honestly didn't think i would return as i really hated that game when i left during last autumn (i won 9/10 of my killer games without trying too hard but survivor became absolutely unplayable).
Well, let's see if i stay.

Right now i'm struggling as killer. Yes, part of this is that i'm rusty of course, and strangely (even though i thought they announced something like that?) i'm stilly playing against 3k - 7k hours survivors, so my MMR got not resetted or diminished. I also don't really know what many new perks are doing exactly as i didn't follow the dbd news for months. Survivor on the other side was quite cool, i escaped in my only match yesterday, but i'm currently more hooked to play killer.

Now my question, is there something like a killer meta? I honestly couldn't find one, i looked through all the perks and also the new perks, and there wasn't anything catching my eye as very strong. Which is… probably a good thing? I mean that's how you want to balance a game.
But i couldn't find a build that works for me. I tried CoB + Pop on Wraith and Surge + Pain Res on Spirit but it never felt like great (enough) value. I also used Sloppy on both which got nerfed as it seems (######### why?). So i'm thinking about only one slowdown and then go for a fast start + information build or a chase build. But maybe i missed some new perk that everyone is using right now?

No real meta anymore after they gutted all Gen slowdown perks a few patches ago. I personally do Corrupt, Pain Rez, Rapid and STBFL on spirit. But Iron Will is super common now that it got buffed so maybe bring stridor?

I'd suggest spending some time reading patch notes. That will help more than anything.

yea i already realized that, it was one of my favourite survivor perks so i'm not mad, but since Stridor does seem to add 50% to 0 again now i could really start bringing it (back then i never liked it, it made me misjudge the distance because every grunt was so loud).
That Rapid + STBFL combo sounds good on paper, i don't know if it will be useful with my Spirit gameplay (i never chase M1 with her, but maybe it helps closing the distance and STBFL is always fun to play)

Not sure if you know this but Spirit is considered an M1 killer. You can use any M1 perk on her and hitting a survivor after a Phase Walk is still considered an M1.

There isn't really a killer meta in the same way anymore, which is probably a good thing. Pain Res is still good, but Pop is definitely usually not it anymore.

Perks that grant undetectable like Trail of Torment and the Unknown's perk can be very good now, and several perks that used to completely suck like Oppression and Dragon's Grip are actually usable because their cooldowns got halved. Surge is still quite good as well.

Spirit in particular received some addon nerfs, so maybe that's what you're feeling.

as everyone said, there is not a defined killer meta currently. i guess full slowdown is still the best build you can go (pain res corrupt etc), but otherwise there is not a perk standing out. you can try weave attunement with franklin's, it's strong in your average soloq lobbies but will get nerfed in like a month.

hasn't it been a year since spirit's cooldown-duration interaction nerf? time went slow this time i guess.

Friends Till the End, Nemesis, No Way Out, Rancor is a really fun combo if you want a lot of chases. As Friends Till the End makes a new survivor the Obsession and gives you aura reading on the new Obsession Nemesis activates and make them Oblivious for 60 seconds. As well, anyone who blinds you and stuns you during the endgame becomes Rancorable. Unless it's a horrible mismatch in your favour the gens will get done so make sure to hook everyone at least once for the endgame.

Honestly I'd just say slowdown builds on poor chase killers, and aura builds on good chase killers seems to be what I face in most of my survivor matches

Feel free to ask for other killers, but for those two I mainly use:

    Wraith
    Surveilance, Surge, Oppression, Bamboozle
Make your choice, Devour Hope, Undying, Flood of rage

    Spirit
Spies from the shadows, Languid touch, Surge, Pop
Nowhere to hide, Eruption, Pain res, No Way Out
