The Tameable Monster
So Im sure everyone has seen or experienced a game when a survivor was either amazing, cute, adorable, etc, whatever the case may be, and you just didn't want to kill them.
Why? What does it take for you to be tamed as a killer? If you need to post saying you're untamable, just move along please. Not really what this is about. :)
When I play, the first survivor to either make me genuinely laugh, or shows a different kind of personality will probably see the light of day. Then again, if the team submits during a beatdown, I already know I won, so I chill usually.

Dropping your item is usually seen as a request for mercy, and I'll always be happy to grant it.

if people are memeing around and enjoy chases without rushing gens and/or play without meta perks and items, i usually let them go… fun behavior must be rewarded somehow that's why

Be a good sport (don't teabag, animation spam or go out of your way to be a dick) and play well. That's usually enough for me.

If someone suicides early on, I'll probably let some teammates escape or just get 2 hooks on everyone and call it a day.
If someone is being harassed by their teammates and the culprit is obvious, I'll usually kill the culprit and let the victim go, then report the one commiting the harassment.
If one survivor is playing good while the others are throwing the match, I'll sometimes let the one good survivor go (If I'm in a good mood).
If several survivors give up early and throw the game, I'll sometimes let all of them go. No fun chasing someone who doesn't wanna be chased.2 -
I had an Artist let me go today for no reason that I can understand. She killed someone after directing me to stun her with a pallet, so she wasnt farming or anything with others. I stunned her nd she went off to chase and kill someone else. Only thing I can think of is another survivor farmed me off hook in front of her a couple minutes prior so I think she might have felt bad for me.

Same. This does it for me.

Nice! Survivors who do that always deserve mercy.
2 -
Only if it's the last one standing. Otherwise it's not very nice for the others IMHO.

In my experience they only do that if they are the last one standing.
But yes, I agree.

I let survivors go quite often.
If I get 8 hooks at 5 gens and they haven't given-up yet, I'll let them go. (Also works with 4 and 3 gens but at that time some of them are usually dead.)
If one or two give up early and the two others keep trying, I'll let them go.
If the last survivor is "all cute", I'll let him go (no offering needed).
If the last standing survivor isn't helping/unhooking and instead hides, I'll do my best to raise the slugs (and let them unhook) and kill the coward. Then I'll let everyone else go.
As a general rule, if a survivor is doing wrong to his teammates, he hangs and it's a free escape for the victims.
edit: I almost forgot: if I get a four slugs, I raise one and they are free to leave.
I have quite a bunch of screenshots of survivors leaving through the gates with 3 or 4 "offerings" at my feet. It always feels nice.

Playing well, doing something funny, and giving item are generally what prompts mercy from me. If I'm playing Pig, a snoot boop is an automatic hatch if you're the last one left.

Any particular reason these two would require a divine intervention to leave?
You don't like their face or what?
2 -
except when they take it back once your back is turned

I gave myself a rule that if I get a Rebecca Chambers I have to let her out. My other one is if I overwhelm the survivors I kill 2 and let 2 go like a Feng and a Sable were so adorable that I have one give me pallets and the other fix the last 4 gens

Final girl Jill on RPD will always survive my killer matches. Must exterminate S.T.A.R.S but... Must also respect the lore

If someone gives up immediately I'm usually nice to the survs. I'll still hook them and stuff, but never deathhook. Especially when one person giving up leads to another. Solo Q is already hard enough and I don't need to create more sweats.
Now if they're trying to flashlight bully and rage quit that's a different story.

It really is just down to whatever happens in a trial. What may work for me in one trial will not work in every trial. Below are the 3 latest trials where I let someone go, starting with the most recent:
- Belmont: He was an absolute soldier, taking chases, hits, risking himself for the sake of the team like an absolute champion! I could have gotten 2K, but with him I felt he had worked harder than most and therefore carried him to the exit.
- Steve and Nancy: Nancy was the most experienced, and it seemed Steve was a neqer player being introduced. He was easy to take out and Nancy kept beckoning me over. After I had 2 hooked Steve and knocked him a third time, I let Nancy rescue him. In turn, he played me the lute and we then befriended each other, ending in a slug race. The other 2 Survivors were good, but fell before this happened.
- Nea and crew: In perhaps the weirdest thing I have seen and been a part of, we went bird- watching! She kept pointing at crows, so I started going with her, pointing and watching crows. I think even the other 3 were confused, although they later caught on. A whole trial spent doing gens and bird-watching. Bizarrely one of the strangest trials I've ever done.

Oh gosh… There’s so many ways to charm me as Killer. Um… Having a special event item for sure gets you a free escape, not without a few scrapes though. Hm what else.. Oh! Whenever Survivors bring any anniversary offerings it means an 8 hook or less game.
Honestly, thinking about it Survivor charm is not very different than a charm spell in an rpg. Some people are susceptible and some are not, just like some bosses in rpg games.
I’m 100% susceptible 💐⚰️

A Survivor simply playing as Nancy always survives when I'm Killer.
I couldn't possibly sacrifice my future wife and mother of my children.
