Rookie Spirit is a bad Perk | A rework idea
After completing 3 Skill Checks, the Perk lets you see regressing generators, why is this bad?
There are way too many things that actually can regress generators, so it's not a good Perk to locate the Killer, it can trigger from their kicks, but it also can trigger from their Add-ons or Perks, like Hex: Ruin or Surge.
What can we do to fix this? It's quite simple actually!
- Remove the activation condition.
An arbitrary condition that only serves the purpose of the Perk being scalable with tiers.
- When you interact with a regressing Generator, be faced with a difficult Skill Check.
- Successfully hitting the Skill Check will instantly progress the Generator by 3/4/5% of its maximum progression.
- Missing the Skill Check doesn't inflict a penalty.
Ever since kicking generators regresses them by 5%, I thought it would be fun if there was a Perk that could reverse it with a bit of skill, so here I present to you Survivor Overcharge.
Rookie Spirit
You keep a careful eye on objectives when they're slipping away.
- You can see the aura of regressing generators.
- You will face a difficult Skill Check when interacting with one.
- Succeeding the Skill Check results in an additional 3/4/5% bonus progress.
- Failing the Skill Check doesn't regress the generator.
What do you think?

What about keeping the condition, but you stop generator from regressing instantly when you start repairing it when Rookie Spirit is active?

Both of these are good ideas.

Its not a perk to locate the Killer, its a perk to find generators.
Its an alternative to DejaVu, Visionary, Detective's Hunch, Clairvoyance, Better Together, Still Sight.
All of them good for new players and each unique and good, just because you don't dig it does not mean its bad.I particularly enjoy Rookie Spirit, because it is extremely effective against loss of progress.

Oh I also thought about this idea haha, but I thought it would be more fun with the Skill Check, just to spice the Perk up a bit.

Glad you enjoy it, I think it could be better tho, that's why I haven't reworked the perk completely, just added onto its current effect so more people (like me) would find it more appealing and interesting.

I don't know about your idea, but I do question the idea that Rookie Spirit is bad because it doesn't show you where the killer is. It isn't supposed to do that, at least by my estimation, it's to help you know which generators are being targeted by regression perks.
It also has the nice side effect of helping newer players know where the generators are, which was very important at the time of its release because Resident Evil was going to draw in a lot of new players.
I think Rookie Spirit is fine. If anything, it's underrated.

No to gen progression perks.

underrated? it doesn't do its job well. you could legit buff this perk to stop over-time regression globally across entire map as active ability with 40/30/20 seconds when you work on a gen. this would be an extremely over-tuned version of rookie spirit and people still wouldn't use it.
It is niche counter-pick perk to Oppression.

It does, though?
Its job is to keep you updated on which generators are being regressed, and it does that pretty well. It's an info perk first and foremost.

that is worthless function. my impression is that this perk is suppose prevent survivors from suffering over-time regression. its current form does that by giving information on the regressing generators but it is wildly time inefficient for survivor to stop regression.
that is why i said my version would turbo buff the perk and i still don't think anyone would use it. Maybe it would become super meta if they ever buffed over-time regression for killer to 150% or 200% but that has not happened yet.

Why do you even assume it's there for you to see the location of the killer? It's supposed to show you regressing gens so you can stop it.
Yeah idk about the bonus progress, it's basically like gentabing before especially because many people don't have much of a problem with it (at least I rarely see overcharge work and with that it even is a surprise, so it's even harder). I see why you would take away the condition to activate, that would be fair.
