Is the silent flashbangs intended ?
After this latest patch landed, i have seen that flashbangs still have no audio when dropped. This makes me think that it is intended and not a bug.
Can anyone from BHVR confirm this?

It is a bug. Sometimes you will hear the drop audio and sometimes not.

It's crazy this hasn't been fixed yet as it is literally uncounterable when someone drops it around a corner

it’s a bug and they need to fix that crap

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to hear it if survivors drop them behind corners. The audio sometimes bugs when the survivor and killer are in the open.

No I'm pretty sure that's part of the bug, when flashbangs first released you would hear them around corners

You're supposed to not hear it around corners, makes mid chase flashbacks viable

So why can we actually hear it sometimes around a corner ?
The facts is: many sounds are often quiet when it isn't supposed to be & this since the Blood Event stuff…0 -
Sound behind walls has been awful since they added that "occlusion" effect years ago. It's supposed to muffle it but for some reason it can just make them completely silent or have no effect at all.
You can test it yourself - as a killer, go to a generator that is behind a wall and rotate your camera or walk around the wall slowly. The sound of the generator will random disappear and reappear. It's very obvious on certain maps like The Game.

Thanks for the explanation.
Funny thing: that is exactly what I did few days ago…
Is it sound occlusion ?2 -
Its sound occlusion in general that feels incredibly off right now. I play with a good headset and it becomes incredibly obvious when playing Spirit in particular.
Flashbangs seem to be completely silent though. This makes them, as @TheArbiter has pointed out, uncounterable not just around corners but in general when dropped outside of the killers vision.
This shouold be fixed or at least addressed.

Oh wow what a coincidence! Perfect demonstration!
It looks like the sound is cutting out when the position of the camera would cause the little edge of the wall next to you to block the generator from your sight. It's been like this for years though so I doubt there will be any update for it any time soon :/

I find the ones dropped at hooks so much worse, I've reached a point where I run around at least 50% of the time looking up especially while looking in the direction of the hook xD

I wonder why flashbangs havent been kill switched if this is a bug. It is kinda serious for some killers.

I mean it's not that bad, just look up and everythings fine. It's just annoying that you always have to predict a flashbang turning around, going around a corner or to a hook, it feels really silly that I have to look up randomly to counter that especially because I'd just hear it normally xD
Ah we're already talking about killswitching: I wouldn't even do that because of the soundbug but rather the bug where you can drop it in the killer to get impossible saves looking at the wall. This bug is so broken on some teams and except lightborn and bleeding out there's nothing you can do to counter it xD

This is DBD we're talking about. Bugs lasting months/years before getting fixed is the norm.

Sound Occlusion in general is absolutely ######### in this game and the devs haven't done a whole lot to fix it, Flashbangs being dead silent around corners honestly doesn't surprise me at this point
My recommendation is to just look up the entire time you are carrying people if you suspect they have Flashbangs, or run Lightborn
