Question for the devs: why the Billy addons?

I'm an avid Billy main due to my addiction to double drift addons letting me waste a solid minute of my time doing laps around Ormond, so seeing the addon gutting just does not make sense to me. The basekit nerfs, sure, Overdrive's a bit nuts and I don't really care if it's tuned down a bit. The addons though?

Why are the turnrate addons being nerfed? Why was Lopro gutted? Why not aim for his actually problematic addon combo, double iridescent, the one that lets you down someone on the opposite side of the map in half a second?

Do you guys want every Billy to just run the same exact build by getting rid of the fun addons or is that just an unintended side effect? Also, why? Just why? If it's because your spreadsheet said they're being used too often, that's because they're fun, not because they're busted. Nobody that actually cares about winning is gonna be using the turnrate addons, we just wanna get sick Mario Kart clips through Red Forest or whatever.

    Keep in mind that the straight buff out of nowhere they gave him made him even more horrible to play against. So now he's being toned down to offset those buffs.

    Billy's kit isn't anywhere as bloated as Skull Merchant's was. And last time I checked SM never could zoom across the map as fast as him either. Did you honestly expect that he wouldn't get nerfed after receiving a straight buff?? Since most Billy's just practically hump you with their chainsaw revved anyways I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for him.

    it is because they allowed billy to spam overdrive very easily. without the add-on, your more likely to bump into objects and overdrive farming is generally less time efficient.

    Aww man, I knew something felt "off" about him when I played a few Billy games earlier. I didn't know they nerfed the boots addons this patch, I thought they'd only upped the rarity of them.

    I'm by no means an expert and he still feels very, very strong to me. But up until now I've been playing him without any slowdown perks at all and doing OK anyway. I might have to start playing with some in my loadout if I start to notice a big difference in my ability to get quick enough downs. He was strong enough to beat most of the teams I faced without any before. I guess that's the eternal DBD arms race in a nutshell. BHVR nerfed this, so now I've gotta bring that, etc…

    Spiked Boots aren't required to turn in short range, I think they just allow you to turn more after a long rush (2sec).

    And the reduced Overdrive frequency/charges suits me very well.

    I think even the best players agreed that the boots were very strong, so I don't think the nerf to them was that unwarranted. But they probably also nerfed them because of usage rate, which is kind of dumb because the boots were by far his best yellow/brown addons, so of course they'll have high usage rate.

    It's sad that they made the boots so much higher rarity. It was really nice and comfy to have such strong addons as a common and uncommon. Sure it makes more sense now with them being high rarity and overheat addons that are weaker being low rarity, but still sad.

    I can say you did NOT need boots to farm overdrive. Simply going across the map would charge it up 75% of the way pre patch.

    Necessary nerfs. Literally every Billy ran yellow boots with either brown boots, Engravings or Lo Pro. That was the extent of addon variety. Maybe I can finally play some tiles against this still busted monstrosity.

    Wish they would've just put some of the power of the turning addons into his basekit, rather than gutting the addons with no compensation. And while they're at it they should replace the useless dissipation addons with actually fun ones, like the black grease and mother's helpers from pre-rework.

    He didn't even get compensation nerfs when they buffed him so this is a long overdue nerf

    a lot of maps have a lot of collision and the turning helped you mitigate map rng while also landing your chainsaw right next to the survivor which played so well into his missed cooldown that was nearly non-existent in overdrive. they increased cooldown and nerfed boot which in theory should make billy less oppressive.

    at least i won't get billy that zoom around the map with iri engraving and land right next to me with overdrive only to m1 or force me to win a m2 50/50 if i am in dead-zone from continuously hit & run gameplay.

    Honestly if a billy is able to do that in overdrive with engravings its 100% deserved on his part. The old 15.6 m/s saw is so difficult to get around objects since it's so fast and boots only made it slightly less hard.

    you should play against these top-tier billy that i play against as survivor. they make it real easy. they all use boot+iri engraving.
