I think it's disappointing that people can think of a giant laundry list of HUD improvements for survivors, but with killers it's "meh, they don't really need anything" or "let's just give them a hook counter, because it's such a minor thing that it's not really meaningful or impactful".

Maybe there really isnt anything more killers need to track in HUD apart from this.

Perhaps it was truly naive of me to think I could convince the devs to bring him back.

you have to understand old freddy’s mechanics were literally IMPOSSIBLE to convey to a new players. He was an absolute menace to players who didn’t know how he worked. “Why are my action progresses so damn slow” “how can he see me all the time” and on the flip side pro players would just bring self care and just miss skill checks basically rendering freddy useless

Well maybe not all hope is lost...
They did label this as a "killer update" and not tweaks, maybe they do have something thats still on a pretty large scale planned, but its just not what we had in the past.
One of the main issues with Freddy atm is the lack of identity. theyre not gonna bring what we had before.. but maybe theyll come up with something just as unique. BHVR knows Freddy players have been longing for some changes, and Im gonna hope theyve learned from their past mistakes (Sadako, Trickster, Merchant, Twins) and hopefully do this one right.

I hope dracula change only slight nerf to bat form like 2.5 to 3.5 and i hope they buff wolf form because it is terrible for tracking and maybe improve pounce.

Wake Up and Fire Up, sure. Remember Me, ok. They could also include Pharmacy. But what's wrong with Vigil? Or Deep Wound.

wake up is weak. fire up is pointless. remember me is under-tuned. vigil has no numbers. so i'd just assume straight buffs. i can't imagine them changing any of these perk negatively. maybe one of these perk turns into some meta perk. you never know with BVHR.

And almost made Corrective Action the strongest perk in the game.

He may need some help for his stalking ability, not being able to scan survivor past a certains point is awful for sure.
But I think thats it, and I speak from a killer perspective, because I really like him and I'm scare of what they could do to him

Maybe there isn’t anything survivors need added to their HUD either then. The latest stats already showed the gap between solo q and SWF is super low the vast majority of the time. Survivors don’t need anything else to bridge the gap.
Also, there are other UI related things killers could get. For example, Dracula shouldn’t have 2 keybind for 3 forms, because it’s just unnecessary confusing. There should be 3 keybinds, so each form can consistently have the same keybind. Or just give him the Vecna spell wheel, so each form can consistently have the same button inputs.

stats don’t tell the whole story and shouldnt solely be relied on. Thankfully the Devs are aware about this and have acknowledged this pretty much any time they show stats.
Imo survs need at least some comm pings - eg a Wheel with predefined messages (‚i am going for unhook‘, ‚need help‘, …) to Bridge the gap as good as can be. There will always be a gap whatsoever.

Fortunately, the devs also directly told us that info currently isn’t the main reason for the gap, and the main reason is the fact the solo q survivors don’t work together as much.
Which means that addressing the gap should involve ways to encourage survivors to work together, that don’t involve giving them more information.
Or it means discouraging survivors from using anti-teamwork strategies. Some survivors commit to an anti-teamwork strategy before the game has started, and that is a problem. For example, if a survivor picks wake up + sole survivor, and their game strategy is to wait for everyone else to die…that should be considered sandbagging their teammates, and should be reportable.

I don’t think these killers are so bad to face. They aren’t at all common in my survivor games. But to that point Plague is slightly more frustrating than Pinhead to deal with. She shouldn’t have the fastest walking speed of any killer in the game given her insane power range. Beyond that she seems reasonably balanced. Pinhead too, although I understand both excel at destroying solo queue players, which make up the majority of survivors.

Dunno why everyone's upset about this. It could still be something cool and make him actually fun. Anything's an improvement over what we have now.

I liked Old Krueger and felt it was a thematic kit but wasn’t his win rate very high? Approximatelt 70+% or some such? I remember he was nerfed because he was incredibly oppressive.

Not fair. Extremely sad story.
Then you can actually keep him as terrible as he is. We want OG-Freddy with Incapacitated-Effect in the Dream Transition and some minor QoL-Changes.
Example (!):
- Incapacitated-Effect in Dream Transition
- Alarm-Clocks added to the OG-Freddy
- Dream Projection stays
We dont need something like
"Hey, here are Snares and Pallets together for you, but for that, we will nerf the Teleport" or something like this…6 -

While many understandably are lamenting this statement, I kinda didn't think we'd see any killer reverted to how they were back in 2017, regardless of how cool their abilities were.
Now that this is confirmed, it's a pretty solid bet Freddy is going into a completely new direction, as his other versions have practically no support for reinclusion. I suppose this is what I've asked for, but it remains to be seen on whether the rework will stick the landing. Regardless, it's clear how much this matters to the devs and playerbase, so it's safe to say January will be a big moment for the community either way.
Personally, I've got enough cautious optimism in BHVR to be excited. I just hope it isn't misplaced.

Agreed, although I didn't expect a full revert, it would've been nice to know the devs weren't taking this update in that direction awhile ago. With all the posts I've seen as of late, they took a bit too long to set expectations.

I don't think that's true. They can still learn from past mistakes without bringing back the original Freddy. I was around back then as well, and I did not have fun playing as or against him at that time. He was unique for sure, but not fun in my opinion. I'm glad they didn't bring him back. Who knows, maybe you'll enjoy the new Freddy changes.

I fully expect Chucky, Vecna, Wesker, and Dracula to get murdered due to survivors whining. After they murdered skull merchant survivors now have the power to delete killers by whining they are "unfun"

SM was nerfed so heavily because survivors disliked her so much that they wouldn't even play against her. This isn't the case for the other killers on the list, so she really shouldn't be compared to them. I anticipate there will be some nerfs, but I don't think it'll be anything crazy.

The hate was entirely unjustified. There were people coming to the forums and flat out saying they didn't care what BHVR did to her, they would continue to hate and DC against her.
And that is STILL happening. She is the worst killer in the game right now and people still refuse to play against her even though it is basically a free win if the survivors have more than two collective brain cells. If that isn't evidence of unjustified nerfs, I don't know what is.

to be fair, i don’t think anyone expexted old Freddy to return just like he was - He was pretty much by everyone considered as the weakest killer after all which is a Term nowadays used for like half the roster consistently
The question is, are some mechanics from old Freddy making a return..

I agree completely.
If I was, then I'd have never offered solutions to the problems I've found with Freddy, simply because being "blinded" by nostalgia would prevent me from ever finding those problems in the first place.

Which is the version I like: I like the one that you couldn’t see unless you were asleep. He was very strong but I felt that since he was technically powerless (I know he could hit you and make you fall asleep) unless you were a sleep it was kind of fair. I think making him that way again but speeding up the sleep timer would be a nice move. Make the snares and pallets base kit, give him hallucination or I guess dream images a la Doctor and Unknown, maybe the lullaby map-wide. I’m not sure how balanced this would be but it seems thematic.

Since you shared which four other killers will get a tweak in the next update, could you answer if there will be other stuff within the next patches that is not listened on the roadmap like reworking maps, items or addons?

These roadmaps were never revealing everything for these updates.
There will be more detailed dev updates shortly before the PTB. Though i guess you shouldnt expext anything Major (well.. November Update will be a chapter and iirc it contains original Killer, survivor and map)

My biggest hope is a rework of the Badham maps in January since with this update Freddy and many A Nightmare on the Elmstreet perks get a change/tweak/rework so it would be a good timing to also change the map. The developers also said in their AMA that they want to change Badham - primarily the mainbuilding.

it not being mentioned on the roadmap is definitley not confirmation that it cant be part of that update! Its also a midchapter, so at least no new surv/killer/Maps planned for this update.

I just don’t understand how he’s been the only killer to have his power completely removed from the match for the player using it too much. And how it’s stayed that way for YEARS

I'm hoping for just minor tweaks to Myers: unlimited stalk for survivors, perk tweaks, and fixing his shoes (they are too light). Some new masks (Halloween 2, 4, etc) would be nice too.

I would love for old freddy to return in a form of an add-on. I miss being stealthy and putting people to sleep manually. Perhaps make it at game mode in the future? 🤔

Numbers. I think they've always been heavily swayed by stats. Mikey's always had a very good pick rate (usually always in the top 10 most played killers) and kill rate. They looked at those numbers and probably thought he's in a decent spot. Even though the community has been asking for years to give him buffs.

I remember a video I watched where they had the theory that the devs have known for years that Michal needs changes, but they didn’t because of his supper high pick rate, that didn’t want a super influx of only Michal players, (since we see people complaining about seeing tons of blights and nurse) so they just never changed him so they didn’t have to deal with more people playing Michal.

I don't know why they would find that an issue. Selling more licensed content is always a plus for them. Look at Wesker.
