Killers with bad internet ruining my game experience every night.
Is anyone else getting fed up of not being unable to loop or play properly because of laggy killers?

I am, and there is no way to avoid them, BHVR don't give a single care about the Survivor experience anymore. Would rather favour the 1 than the 4 needed to fill a match.

honestly it’s extremely harsh but they should just start booting people with high pings I don’t care anymore

Yeah just came out of a game with a killer who's ping never dropped below 160 and spiked up to 300 in chase….

I was playing killer a bit a few days ago and there are normally no problems, then suddenly in one match all four survivors had 300 ping the entire time. It was unplayable.
Not sure what that means, if it even means anything. It sure was strange, though.

Yes am sick of vpn users or burger king connection killers its disgusting.

Sometimes it can happen that all Servers in your Region are full, so players get connected to a different Server. Usually this means that all players are from the same region, but on the wrong Server. E.g. 5 EU-players who play a match on a US-Server.

Ah, okay. Thank you for informing me. :)
But also… yuck, how useless. The survivors got to play gen repair sim. It should've just left us all in the queue.

The ping works horribly for both sides. You're getting hit by hits that never should've touched you and they are also missing hits that should've hit you multiple seconds ago but you are already at the next loop. Either way there should be a fix.
8 -
This is literally the only game where having bad connection is beneficial. You shouldn't be able to queue for matches if your ping is consistently higher than something around 160ms+.

Terrible take honestly. Someone who bought there game should be able to play it.

As someone who uses ExitLag to play survivor in other regions I don't want high ping banned, at least for survivor.
However I do fully acknowledge that playing killer knowing you have high ping is a pretty scummy thing to do, as it most definitely does give an advantage.
However as survivor I find when I ExitLag to other regions (NA in particular) it puts me at a distinct disadvantage, as I cant greed pallets, perks like Head On or Dead Hard are very difficult to time due to ping and I frequently get hit 10 feet from a vaulted window or through a pallet I dropped long before I get hit.
So to sound like a completely biased survivor main - I am fine with blocking high ping killers but not survivor lol

Like the lunge attacks with 10 meter range, which clearly should never hit you.
1 -
exactly. And we can’t if someone’s basically cheating with lag.
4 -
That's not fair at all, I have to constantly play with 120ms ping because BHVR can't be bothered adding an East Canada server

So players who VPN, which gives you gameplay advantages, should be able to play?
1 -
Should survivors be allowed to use Discord, which gives them gameplay advantages?
People VPN because Bhvr can’t protect your IP address. It’s well known that several big streamers have been ddos’es and doxed and now use VPNs. So yes they should be able to play.Stop crying and play the game. Unfair things happen in every single game ever, this is nothing new.

That’s the biggest stretch I’ve ever heard. You getting hit a few times a day when you shouldn’t have is not even close to cheating. And you can definitely still play the game normally. Don’t act like you haven’t gotten pallet stuns when you shouldn’t have or vaults without hits you shouldn’t have either. Getting flashlight saves you had no business getting either.
It works both ways.

That is really a bad take. First of all, it was already confirmed by the Devs that Discord is allowed.
But VPNing to get high Ping, because it gives advantages as Killer is really not something which should be allowed. And "protection"
is a really bad argument, since you can safely assume that most people will never be affected by anything which make them hide their actual IP. Because most players are not streamers.
This should only be a thing if BVHR can somehow figure out that a VPN is used. Which is probably not possible. Because sadly some players have to deal with high Ping because there is no Server nearby. And this is not the fault of the players, this is the fault of BHVR. And if BHVR cannot provide any Server next to a player (whether they dont want to or simply are not able to is not relevant), those players should not be excluded from the game.
(In general, Dedicated Servers were most likely a failure, because they dont really remove things which were present with P2P, but granted a whole lot of new problems)

It's not exactly a high ping killer issue.
It's a high ping player issue.
When I play killer and I'm sent against high ping survivors, getting a hit is more luck based than anything else.
Let's not group high pings with low pings. (My ping is about 35ms)
1 -
I often monitor the network traffic. If I suddenly get high ping in the game (e.g. 110ms when I'm usually around 35) I sometimes check where my game traffic is going to.
I've been sent to the USA several time as survivor. (And maybe also as killer, to verse other European players given everybody's ping)
I was event sent somewhere on East Asia at least once.

Not true at all I have been DDos’ed several times and I don’t even stream. It is very easy to do. Not to mention they can steal your steam wallet info and card numbers if you don’t VPN. let’s be honest nobody knows how many people are using VPNs or not and speculation that it is a lot is just blatant ignorance.
I lived in an apartment for 3 years and have very bad ping. But it’s the best I could get. And with how bad the housing market is, a lot of people might be in apartments as well.
While yes Discord is allowed it is a 3rd party app that provides an arguably unfair advantage. Maybe if Bhvr could protect peoples IP address then I would say no to VPNs.

This thread is s a living testament to how awful this community is. Honestly disgusting. Not everyone is privileged enough to have great internet. Some people are barley scraping by and still want to play a game they love to escape from the problems in their life.
2 -
It's not harsh. It is absolutely unfair for players to have their games ruin by other players who are either purposely abusing VPN or who just don't have a good connection. BHVR should do something about it, but they won't unless people start leaving the game because of this issue. Showing pings for everyone in lobby is 1) entirely normal for other PvP online games, and 2) is not difficult for the devs to implement. There is really no excuse for them not to do it.

I feel like part of the problem is the game's netcode itself has gotten worse with a recent update. Things have gotten way worse than before, more unstable.

I thought using a VPN actually is considered cheating in this game? It may rely on the honor system but I could swear the devs said using VPNs for an advantage is considered cheating.
0 -
I'm surprised a 150ms ping limit hasn't been implemented
0 -
This could entirely be possible, but I dont really remember that the Devs ever said that. It would make sense if they say that using a VPN to gain an advantage is considered as Cheating, but sadly I dont know of any forum posts or Dev Stream where it was mentioned.

I'm suprised too. Imo with 150+ ping you shouldn't be allowed to play killer
