Furtive Chase should have a way to get a new obsession if they are dead.

I think Furtive Chase is an interesting perk and for the most part it is fine, but I do have one minor problem with it: if a death hook survivor becomes the obsession due to unhooking someone, and then you hook them, then that's your last use of the perk. Since no one ever rescues them, the obsession doesn't switch and you basically lose the perk for the rest of the match unless the obsession changes by some other means.

To remedy this, I want to propose one addition to Furtive Chase:

  • If the Obsession is dead, the next Survivor who performs an unhook action becomes the Obsession.
  • All other functionality of the perk remains the same.

Agree. Losing the Obsession makes the perk completely useless which is really sad because the idea of the Perk is really good and encourage the killer to not tunnel.

But in my opinion, the duration should get a buff to like 30seconds because finding, chasing, downing, and hooking the changing obsession is a lot of effort but the reward is rather mediocre. Undetectable is not that strong while other perks like Unforseen or Trail of Torment provide an easier way to active it. 5% haste is nice but not that much.

I honestly think whole Obsession restriction should go. 5% Haste and Undetectable on 18 seconds isn't something that crazy, what needs another condition other than hooking survivor. Maybe decrease it to 15 seconds, idk.
UPD: yeah, nah, tested it in custom again, it will be fine even with 20 seconds.

the perks design was suppose to be that you hook obsession many times and your base terror radius is lower after that. they reworked and nerfed old design and replace it with this design. so that is why problem occurred.

the perk is old. its obsession switch was there to encourage killer to spread hooks but this is way before pain or grim embrace or hex:plaything, gift of pain were invented. this is like baby child of spreading hooks which for long time was there but reward was so bad that nobody considered it.

This is a much better idea. Having more perks that rewards the killers in a good way for hooking survivors is always good, especially in a meta that has not good rewards for doing this. Maybe the Obsession part can still be part of it and be something like "If you hook a survivor, you gain 20sec but if you hook the Obsession you gain 30sec and +10 haste instead of 5% haste and the Obsession is still switching". This could also prevent the killer from tunnling a little bit. But I am okay if this would be not part of it.

And you did "much better idea" even better as always! It could be literally perfect perk. So:

Each time you hook survivor, you benefit from the following effects for 18 seconds:

    • Undetectable
    • 5% Haste

Hook Obsession will grant you following effects for 30 seconds:

    • Undetectable
    • 7% Haste (10% will be proooobably too much, taking into account that you can pair it with Nemesis)

Whenever the Obsession is rescued from a Hook, their rescuer will become the new Obsession.
