Tunneling, Camping and slugging should be punished.
If you tunnel at 5 gens, camp and slug the entire game and run a 4 gen regression meta build (or some other op BS) you should be punished for it. Bannable even. Nothing more to say.

"If you play in a way that I don't like, you should be banned."
Let's make such a list for survivors as well and then we can all enjoy getting banned together.

If you do gens, open the exit gate, and leave you should be punished for it. Bannable even. Nothing more to say.

Look. I roll my eyes at players who sweat like their lives depend on it when their opponents are obviously outmatched, and I roll my eyes harder at the ones to stop to gloat about it afterwards. But playing to win should never be against the rules.
Not only is that punishing people for the high crime of playing the game… it's impossible to police consistently, or in a way that wouldn't backfire onto you eventually. "Trying too hard" and "making an experience that isn't fun for the other side" are incredibly subjective. It's pretty rare that all five players in one game of DBD are having fun at the same time and don't have any problems with how the other players are playing. If you start to go after players for playing hardball, where does that stop? Are four toolbox lobbies bannable? SWFs? Nurse? Map offerings?

They are never going to ban people for playing the game. Killer is supposed to kill and survivor escape. It's like playing FIFA and saying only your side are allowed to score goals lol
5 -
if you run the killer for longer than 40 seconds, you're automatically put on hook.
if you down the survivor in less than 40 seconds, they're automatically healed back and given 150% speed burst with endurance.
both scenarios are ruining the fun and enjoyment for the other side respectively. they should be eliminated. in a case when killer downs survivor at precisely 40 second mark, the snake bites its own tail and forces survivor into an endless loop of being downed and picked up which makes the game kick both players out for being smartasses and replaces them with fun and fair bots.

OP, please take a few minutes to cool off and think about what you're saying before you come onto the forums to demand that people who are playing within the rules of the game be banned. Even better, try playing killer yourself so you can get some perspective. I guarantee that you will run into some survivor squads playing sweaty AF and abusing every possible thing they can to win and they'll stomp you and you'll probably be frustrated by that. But then maybe you will realize that players on both sides try hard to win, and they are entitled to do so. It's just a game - improve, learn, enjoy your wins and let it go when you lose.

Should gen-rushing also be punished?
"No, that would be ludicrous, gens are literally survivors only objective. Don't be silly, lad."
So whats the killers objective then?
"To kill survivors, duh. … oh… damn"
Jokes aside, I acknowledge that dunneling and slugging are unfun playstyles AND are getting out of hand, but they are more or less a symptom of an underlying problem and not a cause.
During the last couple of years both sides went through a lot of changes, and each change brought a phase of "fufufu stop crying, just git gut" with them - and being backed against the walls, both sides did: survivors ditched playful builds and fooling around and favored gen efficiency, splitting up and pressuring multiple gens at once, leading to the "3 gens pop first chase"-syndrom, while killers first concentrated on gen defense, which was subsequently nerfed, and so learned to prioritise to make the game 3v1 ASAP, or lose hard (in most cases).
Also, the increased hook timer weakend hooks A LOT. Coupled with the ever present danger of a flashlight/bang safe out of nowhere or a pallet dunked over their head of of nowhere (again), many killers opt to no hooking again, showcasing how strong this tactics has been since the games inception, since it was basically never changed. But it only recently got a problem, with killers all other avenues being blocked or made that much harder.
Now, once a certain portion of the population learns such a tactic and gets it down, its impossible to make them "unlearn" this. You can pull out the whip and FORCE them to play by your rules, but this will always meet with repercussions and bad moot, which isn't ideal.
People always say that the whip works better then the carrot, but I feel that we have never made spreading hooks and going for late kills attractive in any way, and THIS is the point where we should try to change something.
If the killer gets a suitable reward for spreading hooks, while keeping everyone alive, be it BP multilpyers, but also basekit gen regression or gen-speed debuffs or gen-blocks etc. and if all this bonuses would go away with the first killed survivor, then we would get the following situation: the games would get more tense, as more and more survivors get hooked, repairing gens gets harder and harder the longer the trial takes place, but there is always the hope and possibility of managing to repairing them all, as the killer can't risk killing off a survivor early, or they would lose all their defenses. Both sides players would stay in the game and we would get more interesting matches instead of matches where on side steamrolls the other.

Can we make it a rule that you need at least 50 killer matches before posting suggestions? Please?
6 -
Even if you have 0 games as killer its doesnt mean youre too dumb to understand general gameplay.
Back to topic: People dont need to be punished. The gameplay itself shouldnt even have "strategies" like this. But devs just refuse to make gameplay enjoyable.

nice to see all the bad killers popping up here to say they have to slug because they can’t get a 4 k any other way..
they also cry about gen rush
I probably play killer 60% of the time and get a 4k 95% of the time. No slugging no tunneling. It’s not hard the game is designed for me to do it with ease.I play survivor 40% of the time and escape around 5% its hard because the game is designed to not let me out.
There is a huge imbalance in the roles and it’s undeniable. It’s about time people stopped with the fragility and ego and got together and said look we don’t want a death simulator we want a game that’s fun for both sides. Give survivors a chance and make killers work a little bit for their kills.
perma wall hacks and speed boosts and super human reach and teleport all combined are awful for the simulator.

Literally nobody in this thread said anything about slugging. Well, no, that's a lie. One person brought up slugging to acknowledge it wasn't fun and was getting out of hand.
I don't see anything about gen rush, either.
You understand that when you project that hard, accuse everyone else of being both biased and bad when they don't automatically agree with you, and throw around such extreme numbers… nobody who isn't extremely biased will take you seriously, yes?
I die in the vast majority of my survivor matches, and gates only get powered maybe one in every five or six games. There's a problem and I don't think it's entirely me. But fragility and ego? Right now, at least, that particular issue lies with your perception.

dude the topic of the thread is tunneling and slugging should be punishable.
Also all numbers are accurate.
And yes killers are fragile and full of ego.
the simulator has made 4k so easy killers believe they are really good. Most killers are mediocre at best (myself included) but still get 4ks with ease because the game hands it to them.Oh look that survivor escaped, here’s a speed boost and an aura reveal so you don’t lose!! Hardly a challenge. It’s creates a false sense of ability thats not in the game.
2 of the first ten comments mention gen rushing (which again killers who defend slugging often are anti gen rush because it ruins their game)
Do keep up hun

It's really funny to claim that Killers are the ones who are fragile and full of ego when the this topic is literally a survivor wanting to ban killers for playing the game.

I don’t dispute survivors are fragile too.
I’ve said numerous times there is an expectation last survivor gets the hatch or let out.. why? Fragility..
it’s on both sides but mostly killers and I play mostly as killer.
The game is an absolute mess right now because it’s so imbalanced. As I said it’s just a death simulator. It’s not fun or challenging. You will lose as a survivor and if you’re a mediocre killer you will get a 4k where’s the game? Where’s the challenge?

Is it possible for you to make even a single comment that isn't dripping with "us vs them" toxicity? You're contributing nothing to the discussion other than lobbing bombs at the side you don't play.

It's bizarre how you're talking about survivors and killers like they aren't the same players. Do I stop being fragile and full of ego when I switch over to solo queue for the day, or do I have to play a certain amount of killer before I'm suddenly a terrible person who just wants to power trip with my murder simulator?
Your numbers wildly conflict with my game experience, and more importantly, the official stats. You'll forgive me for wanting more evidence.
People brought up gens as a direct counterpoint to kills to illustrate how insane the OP's premise was, of punishing people for doing their objective as efficiently and boringly as possible. It's sarcasm.
Are you talking about Predator? I thought we were complaining about gen slowdown perks? Frankly that perk isn't an issue unless you're Nurse, and Nurse is already an issue in of herself.

I wonder how you read that into any of the comments here, least of all mine with a big explaination and several possbile solution.
This leaves only the most obvious option: you don't care to discuss at all, but just want to meddle and accuse the other side, no matter the arguement. Thats not cool, at least try to discuss.

At first I thought you said "2 of the first 10 commandments mention gen rushing."

Posts like this are so incredibly counterproductive.
I wish BHVR would make game changes to make tunneling less effective. But the idea that people should be required to play in certain ways, even though the game allows those styles of play, are counterproductive.
If something in the game is too strong / broken / unfun, reserve your complaints for BHVR.

I think that the best way to approach things like camping, tunneling and slugging is to understand what place those tactics have in the game. Why killers use them. They can be winning strategies and they aren't punished in any particular way. So one could say that a fairly good killer with adequate enough speed and a good build could easily down a whole team and dance over them for four minutes if they wanted to. Unless it's punishable, it's fully acceptable gameplay.
But this is what it is on paper. Beneath that is the danger that certain playstyles (ones that deprive others of the ability to play the game) could over time hurt the game by causing some people not to play it anymore.
Getting back to what I said originally, I think the only way to discourage killers from "certain things" is not through punishments but through heaps of rewards. Didn't stay close to hook? Get a haste during endgame. Didn't hard tunnel after hooking somebody? You get tons more bp. The entity could block windows sooner. The exit gate could take longer to open. There could be an exposed status effect or gen slowdowns or all kinds of things that a killer might find more rewarding than what they've been doing.
Yes, some killers just love to do "that stuff" but others do it because it's a high reward and low risk activity. Problems created by it being a win lose game can be solved by treating it as being a win lose game.

I think most people missed the point and immediately engaged defense mode for their power role fantasy role.
OP is stating survivor role is unplayable and unfun in a hostile manner. Its understandable.
2 -
And if OP did so in a non-hostile, non-aggressive manner, people would have been more forthcomming. Its not rocket science, really: be not a douche, don't lash out at innocent bystanders, get threaded respectfully in return. Other as in the game this works on the forum and in most encounters in real life, I vouche for it.
7 -
They're already punished, by smart survivor players. Just do what they do.
1 -
Definitely needs to cool off because you know what they said is an exaggeration of what they've seen. If a killer won at 5 gens, they didn't have to tunnel to do that, and in fact it had nothing to do with them and everything to do with the survivors not putting together ANY amount of pressure. Slugging, too. Why did the killer get 3 downs in under a minute? Do the survivors even loop, or like look behind them at all? Sounds like 1 side playing sweaty is being counted as a crime, while the other being expected to play equally sweaty is somehow unreasonable.
1 -
Impossible to police this. If you want to get rid of these playstyles, the only way to do so is implementing mechanics or perks (ideally mechanics) that heavily punish these playstyles. Facecamping has almost entirely disappeared outside of endgame since the introduction of the AFC meter.
