Why hasn't a killer released with a scourge hook in almost 3 years.

The last time a killer came out with an original scourge hook was The onyro in march 2022 thats 2 years and 7 months ago . I like the idea of scourge hooks and I'm no game developer but I've seen some interesting scourge hook concepts that people have made. They made Monstrous Shrine into a scourge hook in June 2022 and hangman's trick july 2023. Its not like hangman trick was any good it is the 2nd least used perk in dbd according to nightlight with only septic touch beating it. They added a Hex and a boon those being wretched fate and illumination which aren't very good but at least its something in the perk category so maybe soon they will add another scourge hook

Probably because it might be difficult to balance it. Strong enough to be worthy of being a Scourge Hook Perk but weak enough to not be overpowered and end up getting nerfed 20 times.

I came up with one where after a survivors spends 20 seconds on a Scourge Hook one of their perks change at random. That would be dope.

I call it, Scourge Hook : Pointless Choices

Not much point seeing as Pain Res is almost universally the only one ever used.

Strange how things seems new in the game and yet it is not. Time flies and we are all heading for that cliff were our lives end.

We have a few scourge perks so adding more would make it look like they are running out of ideas. They probably rather go for other perks at this point.

I'm kind of wondering about that too. It's not that hard, after all:

    Scourge Hook: Creative Slaugter

It's said that serial killers never change or adjust their methods of slaughter. That was never your case.

At the start of a trial, 4 random hooks are changed into Scourge Hooks.

Each time a survivor is unhooked from a Scourge Hook, a random one of the following effects applies to the survivor who unhooked:
    • 30/60/90 seconds of Blindness
    • 10/20/30 seconds of Exposed
    • 30/60/90 seconds of Deafened
    • 40/50/60 seconds of Oblivious
    • 5/7/10 seconds of Hindered (-10%)
    • 15/30/45 seconds of Exhausted
    • 30/60/90 seconds of Amnesia
    • 10/15/20 seconds of Incapacitated

None of these effects can happen twice in a row.

Amnesia causes the in-game HUD to entirely disappear, replacing it with a special filter (hazy, blue-ish edges of the screen)

    See?

No idea, invocations, "teamwork" perks, and boons are also left in the dust with few new additions to their roster, feels like these mechanics could be explored more.

Sadly, with BHVR's design style, both Invocations and Boons are unusable, they can't create anything for either.

Okay, I want that perk. If only for the chance to give a survivor that keeps bming me No Mither.

Same reason we probably wont get new boons/invocations unless they're absolutely horrible - it's a flawed concept.

High risk high reward perks are generally not very liked, because people always have confirmation bias with their experience against/with these perks - they only remember when these perks WORK or DONT respectively and it often leads to devs having to balance the perks around the idea that they ALWAYS WORK just in case they actually do and it doesnt feel too bad.

And that balancing kinda defeats the whole point so it's just better not to engage with the concept in the first place.

That is simply not true. I’ve seen a ton of gift of pains recently because of that new build killers have been running with leverage. I sometimes see floods of rage too but not as often.
