Freddy Rework type
Freddy is getting a rework early next year. Rework can be a blurry word in what it means. After looking at prior reworks behavior has done I can only predict 2 different options that they will do. Killers like Trickster, clown, and billy, legion, and bubba all had massive number changes plus new things to there base kit in their reworks.
Some examples being-
Billy- Overheat and overdrive
Clown- Yellow bottle
Trickster- Number of changes to their base kit
Legion-5th hit down
In the end of the day the reworks did not change what there power was just buffed them and made a better version of themselves. Some trickster players don't like the rework they got but in the end of the day it didn't change that trickster threw knifes.
If they go this route with Freddy I can see Freddy getting the following changes that are in line with previous reworks
Snares placing speed from 4.0→4.4 or 4.6
Basekit pallets like how clown got his yellow bottle
Number buffs to Teleport
Addon pass
Catblock basekit
Of course these are the only ones i listed there could be more other players think needs buffing but a lot of killer and survivor just flat out don't like this iteration of Freddy at all because its boring and buffing a boring killers power isn't going to make them any less boring to them.
Skull merchant reworks changed her a lot in what her drones did but in the end of the day she was bound to her drones and what they did so if Freddy got a skull merchant type rework maybe snares and the dreamworld will remain and change effects in what they do im not too sure. I don't mention onyro since i dont know what she did before and after her changes since i didn't play her in either version so I'm not qualified to make any comparisons
I will be very surprised if they do an entire power change and leave nothing of the current kit but his original rework left nothing of old Freddy so there always that but with the amount of stuff the devs got working on right know i don't see them making a whole new power that can be used on other newer killer releases.
Only time can tell. What do you guys think.

I personally hope they give him a complete change from the ground up. Current Freddy doesn't feel like Freddy at all and is rather dull.
A lot of people want the original version of Freddy back. It was more interesting than what we have now. But I think they confirmed we're not getting that.

Unfortunately it has been confirmed, yes.
Maybe there is a chance one or two aspects of his old power will return, but we are definitely not getting a full revert. This isn't how I wanted my campaign to end, but I did the best I could. I swear to you I did.
As for the post here, @fixblitzskin , I think Freddy has a chance to get more substantial changes simply because and it has already been done to him, and very few players like his current power. Number adjustments and tweaks to his existing power, even if they are significant, will not fix the problem of Freddy being boring to play. Nor will they restore his unique identity.
But we will have to wait and see what will be done to my favorite killer this time.

As long as they add back the “pull survivors into the dream world” type power back in a way I’ll be happy. His old power suited him very well, the rework made zero sense, all he ever needed was just some good buffs, not a rework.

If I had to choose only a single aspect of his old power to return it would be the "Pull in Dream". That would already make him way more fun to play.

Look at it this way; the only way is up. What ever they have in store has to be better than where he is now.
In an ideal world they'd have contacted you to consult on it lol.

I agree. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to make him somehow worse to play than he currently is.
Ah, thank you, my friend! It would have been an honor for me to share my ideas for Freddy directly to the devs. To try and help make Freddy as fun as he used to be.

I just hope that they will make Freddy feel like Freddy. But track record kind of makes me think we will get some changes to his base kit, a addon pass. and that is it. But hey i can hope i get the killer that made me find and join dbd again.
