Event (Rant)...
I took a break halfway through the event and Im going back to grind through all the stuff before the event ends… and it is absolutely miserable.
Ive had several games where the Killer hard tunnels out a player to remove them as fast as possible, often leaving us with 1 Dead at 3 - 4 Generators remaining, and then they just starting hard slugging the entire team or continuing to tunnel but with the next person they hook.
Earlier I had a game where a P100 Wraith hard-tunneled a Mikaela at the start of the game, and then proceeded to slug the entire team, bled me out while doing nothing but ringing the bell and nodding, but hooked me right before I fully bled out just to spend the rest of the time hitting me on hook.
The game before that I had a really good Dracula player but they ended up tunneling 1 player out, slugged 2 AFK players, and was hell-bent on killing me by any means necessary, only to crap-talk in the post-game chat despite the fact I had literally everything working against me.
Game after game after game it has just been miserable, I had been bleed out several times, hard-tunneled before I cant even work on my archive several times (I can handle being chased, just it interferes with archives), and while part of it is a skill issue, I really have no idea what to do, I just kind of feel hopeless.

Maybe eventually you'll get some decent people as killer and can get them done in time?
We'd offer some better encouragement but we kinda suck at it…
If your hell bent on grinding it, maybe a discord for swfs?
Apologies since we can't really help

Sadly it is what it is. I encourage you to just try to rush the challenges accepting that you're not going to escape. And any challenge that you can do as killer (you know, those that let you choose between a survivor action and a killer action), I strongly suggest doing them as such. It's much easier to get them done as killer, from my experience killers are more likely to sweat in the event than survivors, and as killer it's easier to control the match (not saying that playing killer is easy but at least you won't be tunneled or slugged for 4 minutes straight lol).
Also there's a surplus of the fragment thingies that you need to buy all the event cosmetics. So you don't actually need to get all of the challenges done, in case that's what you're worried about. I'm sitting with like 700 remaining fragments despite the fact that I have bought every cosmetic. Try to go straight towards the end of the tome if you want Yun Jin and Trickster's skins and you'll be alright!

Think it might be a location thing because i have rarely been bled out let alone slugged.
Been tunnelled a few but meh that is what decisive strike and a few other perks are there for.
The challenges are not that difficult you should be able to power through them just dont go in thinking you will win i usually just go in with the expectation to just get my challenge done if i die i die0 -
Play for chases. That's what I do on solo que.
Often time I do good enough chases and my team gets to escape. Of course if they are efficient on gens.
Maybe that's the way? I come into game thinking my teammates are gonna be 2taps, which is true for the most of time and try to take killer away from them, give them some breathing room to do the objective.

If you keep encountering tunneling, this is what you do:
Equip some anti-tunnel perks: Borrowed Time, Reassurance (if you have it), Off the Record, Decisive Strike (the last two for you, more than team).
And remember this tip: There's no harm in letting your fellow Victim hang on the hook during the first hook; it's 70 seconds these days, before it goes into the next stage, so just let them dangle a bit (and hope they're not mentally stunted and attempt to self-unhook).
Lastly, remember to not take the game too seriously. Go in there with whatever objective you have, it's what you're there for, and consider how you may best complete said objective. Do not worry so much about gens being finished, do not worry about escaping, if truly your only goal is to complete your objective, whatever it may be.

The issue is that bringing anti-tunnel perks only benefits myself… and I cant really shout through the screen at my SoloQ teammates to magically get them to put on anti-tunnel perks, there is the pre-game chat, but only PC players can see it. This being said, if it gets down to a 3 v 1, especially in SoloQ, there isnt much I can do.
Also this being said, I dont mind being chased, I can handle myself in chase decently well, the issue is that it can interfere with certain archives. There is an event archive to repair Event Generators, and I cannot really do that if the Killer decides to chase me the entire game. :/

Only benefits myself
It would appear you didn't read my post thoroughly, or simply don't know the properties of the perks I listed, so I'll explain:
Borrowed Time: Extends unhook Endurance and Haste on the unhooked Victim by 10 seconds (This benefits only them, sure).
Reassurance: Pauses the hook progress for 30 seconds + Stuggle skill checks if in hook stage 2 (Also only benefits them).
Off the Record: After YOU being unhooked, you gain the following for 80 seconds; Endurance, Killer can't read your aura, and no grunts of pain (This ONLY benefits you).
Decisive Strike: After YOU are unhooked, if the Killer picks you up within 60 seconds of the unhook, you can escape and stun the Killer for 4 seconds (This ONLY benefits you).
As you can see, there's 2 perks for team, 2 perks for you. You can make it just for yourself by replacing Borrowed Time and Reassurance with ex. Dead Hard and Overcome, or you can make your perks just team by replacing Off the Record and Decisive Strike with ex. 'We'll Make It' and Kindred.

Hey @Iron_Cutlass I wish I was someone good enough at chases myself to be able to offer better help but, if you ever need a teammate who can be a.. maybe not a sword and shield, but a twig and pot lid, let me know! I will keep boon exponential up and be at hand with for the people solely for the purpose of seeing your objectives done - I don’t mind dying or getting tunnelled (though it will be brief lol) if it helps you with time to do what you need to do :)

i don’t understand why players play like that in an event mode. I’ve seen this too many times as well, and it was obvious the killer was not going for any event BP. I don’t know why they even bothered burning the rod if they were not interested in getting the bonus points.
And this goes ditto for survivors ragequitting at 5 gens because they don’t like the killer or got downed first.

Some days on DBD are just awful, on those days I just close the game and play something else.
Sometimes I close the game for months at a time

This is what the devs and killer mains wanted, a game where killer is so easy. Giving one side a major advantage in a pvp game is toxic, especially when that side is a small minority of the playerbase.

You can get everything you need from the rift playing killer, so play that instead.
With any luck, if you never play killer, you won't get any decent opponent for a while.

The way people play this game nowadays has just been leaving me super burnt out on this game.

Sounds like the same experience as when there's not an event, barring the issues with the time-sensitive event archive challenges.

I only played the event to get the rewards, moment I had them I stopped playing. It just wasn't fun when people are playing like it's normal dbd or comp DBD.
Had killers down me and slug me in front of pumpkins or rifts that hadn't been opened, they weren't even trying to open/kick them instead for the event BP but just trying to sweat for 4k or make survivors miserable by slugging as many as possible. So many matches ended with killers not having much BP with a 4k in the event because they didn't actually care about event/event BP, they're just going in to have easier 4k matches against those just wanting to good off.
I hope that with events being separate from the regular mode that the devs make some extreme changes to make the event more of a good off/fun time and remove anything that is used to make the other side miserable/sweat. If you want normal DBD the regular mode is right there.

Pardon me for not clarifying, but most anti-tunnel perks benefit myself but there are perks that benefit the team, and I was moreso just focusing on the ones that benefit myself.
There are anti-tunnel perks that do benefit the team and I have used them and their effectiveness is decent but at the same time there is no way of me consistently getting the unhooks in SoloQ since sometimes it would get snagged and the Killer would get an easy down.
I tried Borrowed Time and Babysitter and while both are decent I found that Babysitter was just overall more effective at preventing tunneling with the raw distance gain plus the long effect duration. It did help, not to the greatest degree but it did something.

This has been my experience with the past like four events now. Blood Moon, Masquerade, Lights Out, and now Haunted by Daylight.
95% of the killer's I play against aren't engaging with the event in any way, and just using the mode to dunk on casuals who just want to have some unserious games in the event.

It's sad to see the event spirit slowly diminishing year by year. When I first started playing there were a ton of Killers who would have fun and play around more with the Survivors. All in good holiday spirit. Year after year the number of holiday spirit Killers has died out. This year I encountered maybe one or two Killers who would have a good time in our games. Most of them slugged, tunneled and camped the ENTIRE event. I don't get it. Yes, it's a game. Yes, it's competitive. However, is it really that awful for Killers to have a little holiday spirit?
