I don’t like the new 2v8 sacrificial action.
I don’t understand why they changed from killers stomping caging survivors to hooking why didn’t they leave it as it is? I saw a gameplay on it and it looks slow they should’ve just left it with the cage sacrificial

They changed it because the stomp invalidated all save attempts.
I'm not sure what I prefer yet - I'll have to play it out to get a feel for it.

Flashlight saves, and Pallet Saves are why the change was made
2 -
see that shouldn’t be necessary in my opinion. Bully squads exist for a reason there was no need for them to change cage sacrificial to hooking sacrificial because it’s literally 2 against 8 and gens are flying too fast and u have to deal with flashlights and pallet saves? This is crazy to me I wish they change it to stomping cage again

Yeah lets just not balance the fun mode to the point survivors may even want to play the mode.
9 -
Should increase gen to be 10 after this change.
The generator is so fast in 2 v 8.

"More second chances are why the change was made"
Because as typical, BHVR's answer to making the game more fun for survivors is to make it LESS fun for killers. Not quite sure how they feel that's the best route, but I can assure them they are wrong.

8 survivor games so far and I haven't seen a single save attempt. This current version of 2v8 is so focused on efficiency that I don't think anyone feels free to mess around.
7 -
remember flashlights are only a 13% chance from a chest so you wont see a lot, and pallet only works if survivor is downed on it.

These are really weird takes.
The first iteration of 2v8 had virtually zero killer interaction unless you were being chased. So unless you were actively caged, or being chased, there was literally zero reason not to be pumping gens.
Now that there's some kind of killer interaction that actually draws survivors away from gens voluntarily, that's also a bad thing? This gives people a reason to go for chests, and possibly make an attempt at a save, which is literally part of the pvp game. All of that is right spent not doing gens. For free.

Strange takes.
That queue times were horrible during the first version of 2v8 (they are still really bad, waited 20 minutes for one game as Killer), was because the Survivor experience was bad. So the logical step is to improve the Survivor experience.
Removing any methods to make a safe boils down Survivor gameplay to just Chases (which can be ended quickly if Killers decide to double team the Survivor) and sitting on Gens. With that, survivor gameplay got more attractive.

I see you still live on these forums.
And no, not strange takes. I'm right. Period.

You know, what I do in my freetime is none of your business. And saying something like this when you have 0 arguments just shows that you are not really good at discussions.
You are not right. Simple as that. What the Devs did is simple logic - one side does not have fun in a mode? Increase the fun of this side to make it better. Simple. They are doing it for Killers for years now with constant Buffs in 1v4.
13 -
They changed it because the Devs want to have the a already Survivor Sided Mode easy for Survivor this is also why they increased the Gen Speed so Survivors wins more often

Yessssssssssssss the mode is so survivor sided that these are currently the incentives in my server. So many people who want to play survivor right now!
Enough us vs them narrative holy #########.

So what do you suggest?
On a somewhat related note, what's you take on the design of the Smokebombs from the prior event?

He’s absolutely right. The fun of the game mode was the insane fast pace and high intensity. The picking up to hook is abysmally slow and pace breaking. I slug very heavily now instead of caging immediately. In the past if you ran up to a group of survivors you would down one and take two seconds to cage them and go after the rest. Now you down one and spend 4 seconds to hook them is not worth it. I’ll just leave them on the ground and try and down multiple at a time.
An awful change for both sides in the long run.

Your point about the bonus is irrelevant. In my region it’s a 50% bonus for killers.

I don't intend to call you a liar but there's NO way lmao
4 -
2v8 is still very fast-paced. At least the one game I played as Killer (I probably wont sit in that many 20 minute queues to play). And well, that slugging was so popular and that Survivor gameplay was heavily reduced were pretty good reasons to change it.
1 -
It certainly is. It’s region based AND time based. It’s usually a killer bonus early in the morning and late at night and a survivor bonus throughout the day.
You can’t go off of those bonuses at all unless you know generally a pattern of when normal bonuses are for each side.
Killers only aren’t playing that much probabily because the 20 minute wait meanwhile survivor is faster.

I never ran into slugging that much in the first interaction because caging was so fast. There was almost no reason not to cage unless you were playing Huntress.
2v8 is fast paced for sure but hooking is so slow and clunky, you literally pause for an entire second after picking up and then hook. Even with the changes there is still almost zero interaction. Survivors never go for saves and just stick to gens.
And the new gen speed/ debugg mechanic just makes the game mode a sweat fest honestly. I never had a problem winning as survivors. I have a video where we got 7 6-8 man outs in a row. Now it’s even easier imo.

Conveniently omitting the fact that a 2v8 lobby requires 6 more surv players than killer ones, I see.

I have to admit, I cannot really say much about the current 2v8. I only played one game as Killer, which was a 7K with Hatch Escape and 1 Gen remaining (granted, it was Billy and Blight, so two very strong Killers). But in the first version I had a 7K or 8K in every game as Killer.
And I have had 0 Survivor games so far with the new 2v8. But in the end, they have to try things with the modifier, and if it turns out they are not popular, they will revisit it again.

The ratio is the same as for 1 v 4 (4 survivors per killer) so, following your logic, those 250% BP boosts to survivors should be happening in 1v4 as well. And yet…

i've only played 2v8 for a small amount of time so my post does not hold as much weight as those who have. however, i can confidently say that 2v8's current formula for gameplay is not suitable for either side and that i recommend the devs dial back on some of these changes they're making for the gamemode. OP's post is one of the few things i noticed with the modifier that reflects what i'm about to talk about.
the current main issue i find with 2v8 is that it steers away from the core of DBD's gameplay loop by introducing new variables such as the introduction of classes, changes to how hooks are performed, and killer passive abilities. this is far from what was (in my interpretation) originally asked for, which was simply double the survivors, double the generators, double the killers, and some map adjustments.
realistically, i can see why the modifier was developed the way that it was, and it was to account for the fact that so many survivors on the board can easily nullify pressure as well as create a scenario where normal perks can become broken and/or disruptive to the gameplay.
although while i understand why some of these things have been added, it makes it difficult for killers or survivors to enjoy the chaos of the match when they are being countered by mechanics that invalidate core gameplay. similarly, it's another scenario where the game suffers from the lack of player interaction with the killer in the match. what carries interactions is the abilities and linear options pre-programmed by the developers, not the actual players.with that being said, i propose to BHVR that by changing 2v8 to reflect regular DBD but with adjustments like restrictions and slight number tweaks, it can increase player retention by allowing all players to breathe and play with a plan. this can account for both casual and more competitive players in the modifier as a result.

Yes.
Because it's a PvP game. Generally speaking, what's more fun for your opponent is less fun for you.
In the original 2v8 mode, survivor gameplay was purely looping and generator efficiency. Rescuing allies with flashlights and pallets is one of the most fun things you can do on survivor and it was just totally absent from the mode.
1 -
Do you mean for 2v8? Could you give us a screenshot? I have a hard time believing it’s that low for survivors in your region. Killer queues across regions seem really high.
3 -
After reading about the new 2v8, it sounds like a good time to take a break from dbd after all. The mode to me sounds even more unfun with gen speeds and how sweaty ppl playing and add the fact killer queues are back to 20mins long… Sorry I just dont think 2v8 will ever be a mode I look forward to, it ######### with queues too much and ruins even the normal base game imo. I rather have Chaso suffer over this mode any day, at least that doesn't lead to me waiting 30 minutes for a 5-minute game.

I’m at work rn but I’m sure it’ll be the exact same way tomorrow, so I’ll do it then.

Did u ever played it ? It is heavly Survivor Sided Gens are way to fast u dont need even be good at Looping as Survivor to escape on this Mode
The Reason why more ppl want to play Killer is because playing Survivor on this Mode is boring and much easier than on the normal Mode also ppl always wanted to play Killer together whit a Friend they asked so long for this and now it is possible so for sure more ppl are playing Killer
