How does DBD mobile function with minimal lag?

I’ve played a couple Roblox games that run smoothly on my PS5 and PC yet are laggy on mobile. There is one in particular called Dress to Impress that has gained a larger following in the last 7 months and which everyone complains about having excessive lag with on their phones when playing.

The devs of that game are teenagers and relatively vacant from mature levels of interaction and professional engagement due to their being new in the scene; So, answers aren’t easily attained.

Another reason I’m asking on here is because this community not only has next-level wizards that understand all things tech, but also a more mature group of players older than pre-teens who can answer soundly.

Anyway, I’m wondering how such a larger scale game like DBD is capable of functioning on mobile so well sans the lag issues. Is it due to better servers? Would you think that Roblox game I mentioned lags from poor servers? Too much simultaneous playerbase traffic? Something internal, like too much memory programmed into the game itself? Think it’s their phone/ tablet tech that needs to be upgraded?

Just curious how so many mobile players of DTI complain about lag on their phones, when most all on PC or console have no issues whatsoever. Since DBD can operate as well as it does (and it’s got to be overall bigger than a Roblox game) how can it be so smooth and lag free while such a smaller game causes so many lag issues?

I am not familiar with Dress to Impress, so forgive me if I misunderstand the question and I only have limited expertise.

In terms of frames per second lag can be reduced by optimisation. This is achieved in various ways but it comes down to putting the least amount of necessary steps into a calculation or making it less complex. If we dive deep, everything that happens on a screen is determined by math. Similar to our brains, the processing unit can handle shorter algorithms much easier than longer ones. For example you could add a line of code that says that something should happen X amount of times instead of writing the algorithm X amount of times (this is just the most simple example I could come up with, not something that should be an issue). It is much easier to calculate 6×2 than 2+2+2+2+2+2, even though they are basically the same.

This can also be used to make animations more easily processable. If the Dress to Impress devs are still new, it is likely they still have some screws to tighten in that regard.

For server delays, I assume that DBD Mobile has better and more servers around the world than Dress to Impress. That means players have a higher chance to be physically close to the servers. Any information in the game would need to go from your device to the servers (and back, although that works a bit different), which causes some delay that can vary depending on the speed of your internet and the distance to the servers. DBD Mobile is likely to have servers with a higher capacity as well, which means that a higher amount of information can be managed simultaneously.

Excellent info, exactly what I was looking for n kinda what I imagined was the reasoning. Figures it would be you with a response so calculated, lol. Haven’t been on here in almost a year (or played DBD in about as long.. cozy hiatus:) and not sure if you were into him as much as GeneralV, LordGlint, or CountOfTheFog were, but it looks like you guys are finally getting your Freddy rework! Hope they make him as OP as he deserves to be, after all this time, but nowhere near as invincible as JVoorhees when they finally get around to adding him to the roster😆 …May be the only thing that ever gets me back into the fog🤷🏼‍♀️ Thanks for the reply🫶🏽

Bhvr developed the PC version of DBD and it's ports to the consoles, however the mobile version was developed by an entirely separate team. They recoded the game from scratch, something I wish desperately would be done to the main game, and this allowed them to clean up so many aspects of the code and a thorough optimization too.

The guts of the main game are the original 2016 coding, which has been built upon ever since, and was Blueprints with C++ added on later. That's the massive difference between the versions.

I'm happy to help. 😄 Sorry, if the explanation was a bit too technical.

I haven't mained Freddy for that long (only for the last couple months) but I think all of us just want this killer to be treated like the horror icon he is. He doesn't need to be overpowered or among the best killers. But the devs need to find a way to make him fun again. More than anything I hope that @GeneralV will get his favorite killer back.

    Thank you, my friend!

I must say it was heartbreaking to find out we are not getting his old power back, but I still have some hope they'll come up with something good.
