The body-blocking problem needs to be raised up priority at bHVRs

Dear bHVR Team,

Thank you for your dedication to Dead by Daylight and for listening to community feedback. I want to bring attention to a significant issue: the abuse of body-blocking mechanics.

Body-blocking, when used strategically to prevent the Killer, adds depth to counterplay. However, it becomes a frustrating exploit when players intentionally stand in narrow spaces to trap others or when they go AFK in key pathways. This can disrupt the game for survivors, turning an otherwise great gaming experience into a source of annoyance.

While the current solution of banning players who abuse this mechanic addresses extreme cases, it isn't a sustainable fix. The root of the issue is in the design that allows this behavior to occur. Legitimate body-blocking should remain part of the game, but we need safeguards to prevent it from being abused or unintentionally ruining matches. To address the issue and make the current restrictions better I recommend this:

  1. if players hit boxes touch for 5 sec and not moving, they lose collision between each other for 5 seconds.
  2. Survivor players have a tinyier collision hit box but only for survivors, so they may slip by each other easier.

Thank you for taking the time to address this growing concern. I hope it provides some ideas for a more permanent fix or helps get this up the priority line, the status quo cant go on for much longer, I need to see this annoying part the game die. PLEASE

Nothing will be done about it sadly. BHVR is very stubborn, they love players griefing each other for some weird reason.

Well there are many reason I want to thank them for looking into the issue, first, being nice goes a long way and second bHVR isn't refusing to address this issue. They have never said anything to this effect. The reason is probably that its a very small issue and it keeps getting sidelined for more important issues. This is has been the case before for many features and likely what's up still.

Please spare me your negative strategy to providing feedback as that isn't something I can use for anything, I get you are frustrated but that wont help much, only showing support for ideas you think would help or features you want does and campaigning for buzz around a subject. It literally cant help anything you telling me that.

As far as BHVR not ignoring the issue, in one of their Q&A livestreams, BHVR was asked to add a fix similar to what you suggested and said no. They said that because it is a reportable offense, there's no need for them to fix the issue. Since then it has been radio silence. I'm all for being polite, but I have no positivity on this issue, seeing as BHVR has washed their hands of the problem.

BHVR telling players to just deal with this nonsense, because we can report the player is such a bad take. Sure, there's plenty of terrible garbage that happens in the game, but apparently it's fine because players can wait the match out, record it, file an in-game report, then go sign up for a BHVR account, fill out the form and upload the footage. BHVR seems to think that this is a much better solution to the problem, when compared to a suggestion like the one you offered up.

If in that Q&A stream they outright refused to address the issue then that is bad. I would need to see the context.

I can't tell you which one it was off the top of my head. It may have been on Reddit. A question was asked in regard to killers body blocking survivors in corners, and the idle crow suggestion was made to alleviate the problem. Someone from BHVR said they are not planning to make any changes, as players can report that behaviour.

I can't remember their exact response word for word. I just remember reading it and wondering why they wouldn't even commit to looking at a fix for later on down the line.

Yeah, sources are important for everything, not just politics.

I found this from December 13 AMA last year.

That response is not quite as bad as I remember, but it definitely doesn't sound promising. Just gotta keep bugging them about it until it becomes a priority I suppose.

To other Survivors. If you're standing there griefing to get crows to hold a match hostage, the Killer should still be able to down you. If you don't do that, you will get situations where people AFK in corners and the Killer cannot hit them, forcing the match to time out as a way to grief… particularly in endgame 2 Survivor 1 Killer standoff scenarios.
