3v5 (3 killers) and 6 gens to complete-have the potential to be the ideal game mode for both sides.
Yes, you've read this right. 3 killers - BUT drastically nerfed in order to fit\be balanced out into 3v5 setting.
For example - All killers in 3v5 basic movement speed is going to be 4.2
- Nurse's blink max range distance now 6 - 6.5m. Chained (second) blink max range distance now is 3m. (To mention: Nurse's movement speed is also 4.2) The charge time remain the same as usual\current 20m blink.
- Blight's max amount of bounces now is 2. The movement speed increase during rush now 5.5.
- Wraith's cloaked movement speed is now 4.8. The speed boost after uncloak is now only 50%.
And etc-etc-etc. You got the point… The hooking system should be the same as 2v8 to prevent the tunneling scenarios as much as possible.
With how fast survivors can do gens in 2v8, I think it will be reasonable to do 6 gens as a main goal for 5 survivors before opening the gates.
In 3v5 - killer role will become highly team-based. In most of situations you will not be able to down a survivor by your self, you will need a help of your fellow killer player to down the survivor in a reasonable amount of time. Unless this survivor made a mistake.
Also to mention - 3v5 is going to drastically reduce the q-times for killers. I don't think I need to explain why. And for both sides - match will become less chaotic and be more skill-based.
The initial idea of 2v8 was just allowing the killer players to play together for the same goal. With 3v5 this idea still remain, or even getting better.
The only con of that game mode I see so far - if 1 killer player is afk - it HIGHLY reducing the chances to succeed because of a team-based setting.

2v8 mode is very negatively affecting the killer queue-times in general (both modes). I can't find any reasonable fix to that personally based on my experience other than making the killer's experience as bad as possible to make up for it.
I believe 3v5 (with nerfed killers) is a way to go, but need a lot of testing and thinking. I also believe that if 2 killers is fun, 3 killers will be even more fun + only 5 survivors = drastic reduce in q-times to find a match as a killer.

I don't think it will be even slightly fun, especially for survivors. Also 3 killers, even super nerfed, can easily stomp even 5 good survivors, I won't start about average survivors in a mode without mmr.

3 killers could slug 5 survivors very quickly

Without even mentioning the balancing issues that would need to happen in that mode - killers would have to be heavily nerfed for it to be remotely balanced, which is not fun to play. It actually will just move the queue problem to the other side, it wouldn't solve the problem.

Well, if you carefully read my post\idea, and still thinking it's not good or going to be bad - then I have no idea on how to fix the q-times for killers in 2v8, other than making the killer players experience as unfun and bad as possible to make the survivor role be more preferable or appealing.
The fact that 2v8 is affecting both game modes (regular and 2v8) killer's q-times is a big issue. People who like to play killer - don't like when they are being forced to play a certain role (survivor) in a casual environment. And no incentives are going to change that, unless the killer role in 2v8 is gonna be one of the worst experience for a player, to make survivor role in 2v8 more appealing.
You tell me what the fix is. Unless it's as simple as: "Just keep 2v8 as is and endure the q-times".

Nobody would play it because killer would be a boring powerless mess without help from soloQ teammates and survivor would be a slug fest

I'm curious.
To what level are you (not you specifically @Mandy ,but you know what I mean) willing to accept an unbalanced mess that is fun over a balanced experience that is less fun due to player optimization?

2v8 takes away the solo/duo players from the survivor role that want to play killer with someone. Making it 3v5 you now are also taking away the 3swf as well, that's not going to help the queue that is struggling to find survivors.
There's nothing in your idea for 3v5 that would make survivors want to play that mode. A killer in 1v4 has no problem getting a 4k, it'll be extremely easy for 3 to get a 5k. 2 taps will be easier. You can have 2 killers chasing/downing while 1 patrols gens with the other 3 survivors.
One of the few appeals to 2v8 for survivor is the fact there are so many survivors in the lobby. It's harder for 1 person to sabotage the team and there's more survivors to spread the killer attention. If you make it 3v5 it won't take much for one teammate to throw the match and the killers attention won't be spread that much. 2v8 is a casual experience because of the large survivor number, making it 3v5 will make it just as sweaty as 1v4, probably more so for the survivor role.
There are other ways to help the queue.
Give the survivors more classes, I've listed out several different possibilities in a 2v8 Feedback post I made. Giving the killers 3 new options along with 4 classes while not giving the survivors anything new/interesting in this iteration is part of the reason why the killer queue is still so rough. People keep saying that the survivor role is basically the same as 1v4, just more casual, while the killer role is actually different from 1v4. Survivors need something different and the main thing the devs can give them are more classes with more abilities.
Add an XP bonus to the BP bonus - obviously BP incentive isn't enough to get people to switch sides, they need to add something to it.
Have a preference system in 2v8 where you can set it to killer/survivor but you may not get that role. If there's less people setting preference to survivor they don't have to worry, but if there's more setting it to killer they may get sent to the survivor role.
Have an earned queue token system. Everyone starts with a few tokens. You use up tokens playing the side that has plenty of players, you earn them back by playing the side that needs players. Players with tokens get shorter wait than players without tokens.
