What is up with the hit boxes?
The hits are so wonky. It can't be my connection cause I don't lag while i'm playing DbD or any other game. I am also not lagging when it happens but I still get hit and you can clearly see the hit has not connected. Same with vaults, sometimes I fall so far from the window it's actually funny.
Someone please explain what is going on or what causes this.

It's not only your ping but also the killers. If the killer has a bad ping you're usually hit by hits that are super far off, this gets worse the worse your own ping is, so if you have a ping of 8 you're less likely to get hit by those than with 40 as excampel.
dbd is increadible bad optimized for bad ping and that's why things like this happen then.
(Ah it could also be buggy in some way I won't just dismiss this option, there's a bunch every version, so it wouldn't surprise me at all xD)

Since the ping of the killer is shown in the ESC screen, I'm pretty sure its most of the time a server problem and I'm pretty sure these hits looks odd on the survivor and killer screen.
Just watch Hens and count how many times he says "woah that hits?!" in his survivor and killer matches.

To be fair, Hens overly dramatizes his games in general.
Out of personal experience, both you and @KatsuhxP are correct. It's also nothing new.

Yes it happens pretty regulary and since I play this game, probably even longer. I hope they fix this someday, maybe at least synchronize it better so it look so brutally off xD

I just picked hens as easy to remember content creator with a lot of youtube videos. in the first 2vs8 showcase BHVR penantis had a strange hit as huntress on live stream.
The dead by daylight subreddit banned posts about strange hits because they are way to common. That alone should worry someone at BHVR, but it somehow don't.

2v8 is just awful with it, I think just because where is twice as many people connected.
Huntress especially is impossible to verse because her hits are so bad, sometimes on your screen it completely misses but it is still a hit.

Its not a hitbox issue (most of the time, looking at you crouching-survivor-hitbox). Its almost always a ping issue. Im sadly not that deep in the subject matter to suggest an easy solution. If there was any, I do think it would have been looked into a while ago.

I think some weird stuff is going on, some really generous hits.
I was playing a match earlier where I twice got grabbed at a vault after I hit the ground on the other side (I checked the killer's ping and it was like 60ms, so probably not that), which was really bizarre looking. Had never seen that before; hits yes, but grabs?
Got chainsawed by a Billy from the opposite side of a dropped pallet, without the pallet breaking.
And a number of other similar instances; even my wife who was watching was like "how the f- does that happen?" on multiple occasions. Lots of weird hits, dsync issues, and odd graphical stuff in recent weeks, and it seems to be getting worse.

Yup. I've stopped playing 2v8 because of the ridiculous hits the last few days. It wasn't like this last week.

Hit detection is just awfully off in dbd in general. Ive days with legit 3 out of 4 hits that visually did not connect. Not even close. And if i look at the ping at this moment nothing is off the charts, on neither side.
