[FEEDBACK] First Time Player Badly Wants 2v8 Mode To Not Go Away

I am a first time player. I only played for one day. I had gotten the game for free on Epic Games. I then tried to play it around a month ago, but the game had horrible lag. I found out that the cause of the lag was that EAC didn't like this really old windows utility program that I had. Once I exited out of the program, everything was fine again. I played Dead by Daylight for a few hours and liked it so much that I bought a copy for my Steam account because I prefer only using the Steam Client for my games.

I am really sad that 2v8 is going away and that it will be a while before I get to see it again. I searched online and found some Reddit threads started by people who also wanted it to stay and I was shocked and dismayed to find out that their threads were downvoted to hell. I saw one person post that BHVR will only consider bringing 2v8 back if they get enough positive feedback. That's why I wanted to create my own thread sharing my feedback.

I feel that there should be both a 2v8 mode and a 1v4 mode. That way people can play whichever mode that they want. If the wait times are too long for the 2v8, then the player can just switch to 1v4.

To me, personally, the idea of a 1v4 doesn't seem at all enticing. I'm a noob player and I'm a forever noob where my skill doesn't really increase that fast or by that much. In a 2v8, I have more opportunities to be helped and to help. If I get caught by a Killer, there are more chances of me being rescued. And the same goes for me helping whichever survivors I see and can get to. In a 1v4, I feel like my lack of skill stands out too much. I feel more ashamed and I feel more pressured and uncomfortable But in a 2v8, I'm with 9 other players, and as long as I can score next to last or better, I am happy. As long as I don't have the very lowest score. I feel like in a 2v8 that it is just a bunch of strangers creating chaos and I can blend in better and be happier. But in a 1v8, I feel like I'm locked in a closet with a few people who pay attention to my every move. It's like the difference of living in a large city like New York City vs living in a tiny town of only 200 people. Even though I only played for a few hours on one day, I noticed a few cheaters who were working alongside the Killers even going as far as to try to stop Survivors from rescuing other Survivors. It didn't bother me in a 2v8 because there were plenty of us left still working together to accomplish the goals of repairing the generators. But I feel like in a 1v4 where one or two Survivors are doing that, then it would make for a miserable experience.

I didn't read other people's comments on why they absolutely don't want a 2v8. But I just don't get why it's an issue to have both 2v8 and 1v4. I just want to play as a Survivor in a game with 9 other players (7 of which are fellow Survivors), try my best, and enjoy myself and hopefully eventually (but slowly) get better. I don't really care about all these Bloodweb stuff, Tombs, and all that other stuff. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I mean, I'm sure it will be interesting and add to the gameplay, but I'm mainly just trying to avoid getting caught, rescue Survivors, repair generators, and be around a lot of Survivors. That other stuff I can figure out slowly later, but it would be sad and boring if I could only complete those things in 1v4 mode.

Even on Twitch, when I watch games being played in 2v8, I find it more interesting to watch than watching games with only 1v4. I felt the same way back 8.5 years ago when the game was first released and I saw people playing 1v4. I didn't like that small number of players.

I think having two Killers makes it more interesting. It's interesting to see the synergy between them sometimes. And it's also amazing when I see a few Survivors somehow manage to hold out even against to pro Killers in perfect sync.

Honestly, I probably won't be playing Dead by Daylight again for a long while. Even if I can force myself to play, I probably won't be playing for very long. Only a few minutes. But if there was an addition 2v8 mode in addition to the 1v4 mode, I could see myself putting in a minimum of a few hours each week, maybe even as much as 20 or more hours a week.

Hey, I just have to accept whatever happens. If 2v8 won't come back, then I won't play. If it comes back but only once or twice a year for a week, then I can only play once or twice a year. And if it comes back permanently as a choice and option in addition to the 1v4 mode, then I will probably be playing it almost every day or other day.

Sorry to say, but this is a time limited mode. You won't see it for a while once it's gone, but there are many other events and modes available if you choose to stay.

1v4 is the core bread and butter of this game; if you aren't interested in it this probably isn't the game for you. :( But hey, if you like this game and like the idea of managing many people at once, try playing Killer! The whole point of being the 1 in the 1v4 is to manage many people at once and see how many of them you can take out. :)

2v8 is extremely popular and will definitely come back. There's alot of players who started in 1v4 (including myself) that stopped playing DBD but 2v8 brought us back. It was only 3 months between the first and second iteration which was actually fairly surprising how quick it returned but very welcome for those of us that enjoy this mode. We don't know how long until the next iteration but there's no way there won't be one.

This iteration is very similar to the first but the devs made adjustments based on their own plans as well as from feedback they received. Definitely be prepared to see some changes when they release the next iteration.

The biggest issue currently for 2v8 is the wait times - they are very lopsided. There are plenty of players for multiple modes, the problem is they favor playing one side - killer. Survivors only have to wait a moment to get into a lobby while killers tend to wait 10+ minutes. There has been a bunch of feedback for how the devs could help with the queues so hopefully something will be able to even out the queues. Until they can sort out the queues 2v8 will continue to be a limited time mode, once they figure out a fix to queue times I could see 2v8 becoming permanent.

2v8 is amazing but incomplete, i know its rough that your new and dont want to be judged if you do poorly. but its all in the learning experience, as time goes on youll get better!

Also dont worry, this game has TONS of events coming up and christmas is coming up to, it was my favorite gamemode back in 2023 im sure youll love it

also 2v8 may be permanent later on

I am new to the game too and started because of 2v8, it is a lot of fun. I will also stop playing until it comes back most likely.

As much as I enjoyed 2v8 I believe that it should remain limited time only as it has horribly affected the queue times for both modes, it means people, such as myself, can't even pick up the game and play killer in a short period of time.

In your post you say that you want to get better, the thing is, to get better you need to experience everythign this game has to offer, the depth of add ons, perks and different playstyles is what makes it so good, 2vs8 is a bit more of an arcade/casual mode.

MMR works to a degree, eventually you will get better and also, you will want to try to test out killer, which is way more balanced in 1vs4, allowing you to experiment with different builds and powers of each one of them.
