Question about Chemical Trap.
So I play a fair bit of Nemi and just had a game where a survivor used a chem trap. I broke that pallet at full length (teir 2) whip which is a fair distance but the chemical trap still affected me despite the actual cloud of the trap not being anywhere near me?
Is chemical trap just programmed to be "pallet break killer slowed" regardless of the distance?

Yes

Thats kinda sad if that is the case. I am curious though what would happen if a survivor broke the pallet while the killer is using the perk Dissolution

Every killer power that breaks pallets will afflict them with Chemical Trap's slowdown, with the exception of Knight's Guards.

Well, here is a perk I absolutely despise.
Both Chemical Trap and Blast Mine, now that I think about it.
Waiting for the effect to dissipate isn't always possible. Realistically the best and only counterplay against both of those perks is playing Knight, which is kinda ridiculous when you think about it.

and vecna's vorpal blade. i still think this interaction looks like a bug and shouldn't be a thing.

Iirc, they explained this before a long time ago and basically the logic was that Knight's guards are "more detached" from the killer and so the trap doesn't affect the killer. Whereas something like breaking a pallet with a chainsaw is still the killer breaking it.
I would imagine the Vorpal Sword pallet break falls under the same category as the Knight's guards since the Mage Hand is completely separate from Vecna and therefore it probably is intended that it doesn't activate the trap.

i just don't think that killer power should counter survivor perks for same token that i do not think that survivor perks should counter/affect killer powers.

From my testing, it seems to be directly tied to the "destruction" score event. Knight's guards award "pinesweeper" instead of "destruction", which seems to be the reason why he can't trigger chem trap even if he stands right next to the guard.

Interesting. Thank you

Pretty sure the basic logic for Chemical Trap hindering the killer was basically if the "Break" come's directly from the killer player. Anything that isn't attached physically doesn't transfer the hindered.
As for Dissolution and Chemical Trap, havn't seen the interaction in a long time or done it myself to confirm or if its changed, but from what i remember it doesnt trigger Chemical Trap, sort of creating a unique counter, that possibly only a few killer power's can allow for it to happen consistently outside of really good timing and luck.

To add to this: This is because guards are slowed down individually, and the hindered only comes to play if you are using the iri add-on that leave them in place and they detect a survivor.
