New update causing PS4 to overheat so badly the the console itself warns me to turn it off
For starters, the new inbox tab is really cool (unlike my PS4 lol).
I like being able to read patch notes in game very nice 👍
Unfortunately that's all I'll be doing because DBD overheats my console to the point where an actual ⚠️ warning screen ⚠️ pops up telling me to shut the game off.
This wasn't a problem yesterday, nor was it a problem for the past 7 or so years.
No other game I've played has triggered an actual overheat warning before & I'm very disappointed that all of the console optimization threads we've had here on the forums have been all for naught.

ps5 here and dbd has been the bane of my ps for awhile. A few patches ago it would heat up to the point id need a ice patch or something to cool the ps5 down while playing, was really effective and i think that would work with you
Later though the ps5 would just shut down naturally without it even getting hot, i realized it was from insulation and bought a ps5 holder with i think a fan on it to hep with it. If the ice didnt work this definitely would

You are aware you're using a 10 year old console to play an up to date live service game?

A 10 year old console that can run games significantly more demanding than DBD without overheating.
I could play 2v8 for several hours just a couple days ago without issue, the console is not the problem.

I don't remember the ps4 being that terrible, although it definitely had heating issues. It liked to turn into an airplane whenever I played anything.

In my haste to make this post I've failed to actually detail what the issue is & where it occurs, my bad.
The actual 1v4 gameplay is fine, the issue is in the menus.
- The main lobby where you select characters, use the blood web, etc.
- The pre-game lobby
- The store
- And the sub-menus available in the main lobby where you check daily rituals, look at the inbox, etc.
If I play survivor it's possible to avoid the console generating too much heat.
Attempting to play The Houndmaster is where I got the overheat warning.
Waiting in queue for too long at the main lobby is what did the PS4 in. The actual game itself is fine.

DbD is not graphically impressive enough to justify overheating a PS4 lol

Back when I had a PS4 I remember Dbd used to make my console sound like a jet engine. It was the only game to have that effect too. Started when they released the Nemesis chapter. That patch broke Dbd on PS4.
Haven't had any issues on the PS5 thankfully.

It works fine on my ps4 🤷🏼♂️ and mine is from 2012. lol
If it affected your ps4 it would be all PS4. I think it’s just your console specifically. (Which is why I prefer to play on the ps5 now and pc…I had to let the nostalgia go.)
