Give Survivor indication of Aura Reading/Killer Instinct
At this point, a survivor could sneeze and the killer can read your aura from a mile away. There are aura perks for opening locker, breaking pallet, leaving a chase, seeing survivor across map, seeing survivors entering basement, vaulting, healing, EVERYTHING to reveal survivor aura.
But we are left with only Distortion. You’re required to be in chase to gain a token, but then what is the point of hiding your aura? I find most of it’s use at the beginning of match when a killer reads aura starting Trial.
I think a lot of frustration surrounding survivors, especially survivors who want to DC or die on 1st hook, is lack of clarity. Like cool, how was I suppose to know killer instinct was revealing my location in a damn locker just from a dog walk by?
There is the on going debate of “It’s killer sided! No it’s survivor sides!”. While I don’t think looping is killer sided, aura reading is HEAVILY killer sided — to the point I question whether a killer is cheating or just taking a 1/1000 chance finding my location across map. To the point, I’d honestly not care if my aura was visible 100% of the game as base kit to save me a headache.

having this in 2v8 wasn't really a big issue, it's a good way of helping new players learn what perks do etc.

This'd be a great perk effect, but not something that should be basekit. Aura reading isn't that oppressive at the moment since perk slots are limited and all aura perks have some kind of meaningful restriction preventing them from being active too often, and there are also more perks to answer them than just Distortion - Shadow Step, Off The Record, and in a different vein Object of Obsession all exist in this space.
That being said, I've wanted this to be what Spine Chill does for a while. If it just alerted you to the aura without doing anything about it, you'd get solid info on what the killer has and could, where appropriate, play around it, at the cost of one perk slot. Seems like a fair trade to me.
It being on Spine Chill would also ensure everyone has it, because Spine Chill is a universal perk, and it'd be pretty thematic to the perk too. Wins all around.

Yeah, I like that idea, you could also add the vault speed whenever aura reading procced back instead of proccing off of the killer looking at you, that way its like a small help to dealing with being caught by surprise.

Honestly, if aura was just always visible 24/7 the entire trial I wouldn’t even care. At this point, as a survivor player, I’ve learned it is pretty pointless to try hiding or avoiding killer to work on gen. I just stand near the closest pallet/window waiting for the engagement.

It's not like it's a bad idea overall. Did not feel like it hurt 2v8. At least as a survivor, you're like "oh crap, I gotta run", and don't just sit somewhere like a potato not knowing that the killer knows exactly where you are.

problem is, 2v8 is a chaotic gamemode, 1v4 is much more of a strategy.
Having an indicator that your aura has been read at the given moment makes autopiloting by prerunning to a safe tile as soon as you see your aura has been read so easy.

Killer Instinct is really unfriendly for newer players or players that don't know every aspect of certain killer powers. The Houndmaster killer instinct seems buggy (in a beneficial way to the killer) as I have had it reveal survivors in lockers even when the search should have ended

Killer Instinct should never be told to the Survivor, but Aura ABSOLUTELY should, however it can be difficult to suddenly nerf such an large part of the Killer perk roster, I imagine it would be a big risk from bHVR's side. I'm sure they have considered it many times.
But I think 2v8 shows it can be done.

Honestly, the games already spiraling out of control with constant DCs on both side and survivors going next on 1st hook.
At this point, might as well experiment regardless considering there will be complaints regardless

While distortion was very controversial I think it's nerf was unjustified because it was one of the only perks that allowed you to actually counter aura reading Nurse/Blight (which just got a buff with Houndmaster's new perk).
I think most people would agree against a Nurse who can see you through walls there's very little you can do.
